guess I can't really complain with my recent successes but I'm running horrific today. Still alive in 2 tourneys, so hopefully I can make something happen here.
I think you cash in more than your "fair share" of MTTs, so just hang in there and keep your head up.guess I can't really complain with my recent successes but I'm running horrific today. Still alive in 2 tourneys, so hopefully I can make something happen here.
will usually do that when I'm not that strong because:1. It looks a bit more scary since it looks like I want action2. I have fold equity both preflop and on the flopI actually did have a weak king though...thought about checking it, but with the flush draw out there and wish the pot already pretty decent I decided to just shove.edited to add: I will also usually make a non all in raise in this situation with a monster. Its the average hands like AJ or 88 that I'd just push here.Assani, why would you raise to t4800 instead of open shoving in this handPokerStars Game #14542050922: Tournament #72648555, $100+$9 Hold'em No Limit - Level XII (600/1200) - 2008/01/13 - 22:04:27 (ET)Table '72648555 44' 9-max Seat #8 is the buttonSeat 1: Astrolux85 (12858 in chips) Seat 2: El Heffe (27256 in chips) Seat 3: DNA2RNA (45022 in chips) Seat 4: Reesy (20959 in chips) Seat 5: NitsK (18764 in chips) Seat 6: BrokenTPot (55275 in chips) Seat 7: jwvdcw (12811 in chips) Seat 8: jornxx (27738 in chips) Seat 9: tomgus456 (22314 in chips) Astrolux85: posts the ante 125El Heffe: posts the ante 125DNA2RNA: posts the ante 125Reesy: posts the ante 125NitsK: posts the ante 125BrokenTPot: posts the ante 125jwvdcw: posts the ante 125jornxx: posts the ante 125tomgus456: posts the ante 125tomgus456: posts small blind 600Astrolux85: posts big blind 1200*** HOLE CARDS ***El Heffe: folds DNA2RNA: folds Reesy: folds NitsK: folds BrokenTPot: folds jwvdcw: raises 3600 to 4800jornxx: calls 4800tomgus456: folds Astrolux85: folds *** FLOP *** [7c 3d Kd]jwvdcw: bets 7886 and is all-injornxx: folds jwvdcw collected 12525 from potjwvdcw: doesn't show hand *** SUMMARY ***Total pot 12525 | Rake 0 Board [7c 3d Kd]Seat 1: Astrolux85 (big blind) folded before FlopSeat 2: El Heffe folded before Flop (didn't bet)Seat 3: DNA2RNA folded before Flop (didn't bet)Seat 4: Reesy folded before Flop (didn't bet)Seat 5: NitsK folded before Flop (didn't bet)Seat 6: BrokenTPot folded before Flop (didn't bet)Seat 7: jwvdcw collected (12525)Seat 8: jornxx (button) folded on the FlopSeat 9: tomgus456 (small blind) folded before Flop

Just playing the $100-$300 online tourneys still. And yeah, I have no desire to risk anything big like I did last time. Once I get all my money out($5000 every week in a check is the max amount) I may look to put $30K or so in a low risk investment for a year or two. I will try to satellite into some bigger tourneys like the WSOP perhaps or maybe get staked although I'm not sure I want that tbh.So what are you going to do differently in terms of what you will play after your big score, Assani? You going to take a different path than after that last big score like 1.5-2 years ago?
The more fishy I am relative to the field, the more I want the FT double. The more skilled I am relative to the field, the more I want the starting double.Intersting question I saw on twoplustwo:If you were given the choice to either double your starting stack of every tournament you entered for the rest of your life or double the stack you came into a FT with for every FT you make for the rest of your life, which do you take and why?
Seems almost backwards to me. If you are fishy in relation to the field, then you are relying more on luck than skill to get to the FT and would need the chips early. If you are more skilled than the field, then you have a better chance at making the FT w/out the extra chips at the beginning and could then benefit from them once you reach the FT.The more fishy I am relative to the field, the more I want the FT double. I know we talked about this already, but I'm really glad to hear this bro.I just won a $55+rebuy satellite into the $1050 tourney tonight on Stars, but I unregistered and kept the T$...I dunno, just don't feel like gambling at all really. Techincally my bankroll could handle some shots at $1050s, but I'm a bit scared to be honest....wanna really play things safe.
How many rebuys did you use to get this ticket? If none or one, you have invested 55.00 to take a shot at a huge payday. I can understand not wanting to use real money to buy into these tourneys, but 55.00 is really ONE hand of PLO8 for you....I say take a shot...if you dont cash...you are out 55.00, not 1000.00Your tourny play has been unreal....I would ride it....But then again, I am a broke Low limit playerJMHOI know we talked about this already, but I'm really glad to hear this bro.I just won a $55+rebuy satellite into the $1050 tourney tonight on Stars, but I unregistered and kept the T$...I dunno, just don't feel like gambling at all really. there were 238 last weekHow many people normally enter the $1050 tourney tonight?
I completely agree. You had a $50K score at your level and would need to win this one to hit that number. Not worth the investment.I know we talked about this already, but I'm really glad to hear this bro.I just won a $55+rebuy satellite into the $1050 tourney tonight on Stars, but I unregistered and kept the T$...I dunno, just don't feel like gambling at all really. I agree. It's like the people who make 5k one day at blackjack, then lose 3k the next day on craps and tell themselves "well, I'm still up 2k, because it was the houses money anyway." It's just bad logic. The second you make that money, it's YOURS. It's not good once you start convincing yourself that certain money is 'house' money or that you can afford to take shots at big tournaments because you're playing with 'free money'.bought in for the standard 3(initial buy in, rebuy immediately, add on at break). And I understand what you're saying, but you're wrong imo: Yes I'd only have lost $150 on the day if I lose, but I'd be out of $1050 because I have T$1050 in my account right now. Its no different than saying that I should enter a $50,000 tourney because even if I lose then I'm still even compared to where I was 10 days ago....extreme example I know, but the point is the same. Basically I think people use satellites as an excuse for poor bankroll management.

Very responcible AF. You could always use this as a goal. I had no fold equity and the blinds were approaching me in 2 hands. If I had waited to push myself and it folded to the BB he would've called for sure. With a bigger stack pushing ahead of me, I'd have the added equity the blinds being in the pot and I thought 7Ts performs well against anything but AT or JJ-AA there. He obviously happened to have AA.edited to add: Not sure if it was the best move or not, but I'd rather give myself a shot to win a hand and actually be back in it than to win a hand and still be shortstacked and needing to hold on. But it could've been a bad play, I dunno.MrPhoenix said:Explain that 7Ts call to me.
