Assani's Poker Thread (1 Viewer)

My pokertracker was having problems importing HH, so I downloaded V3 - very nice product. I don't think you actively use PT, but I recommend you check it out. This version comes bundled with a HUD - very very nice feature.

Assani, Did you ever buy a car?
I literally told the car salesman that if he went down $500 more that I'd take it. He didn't. I'm still driving my Pontiac Grand Am. May buy one soon though, not sure. Just seems like so much money to spend on a bad investment.
Every time you see a nice car that you know cost someone some money, just keep saying to yourself, "That's a depreciating asset. That's a depreciating asset." It works.

you are obviously doing phenomenal in your tourney play - have you bothered with cash games?
Been kinda taking it easy this week just playing a few online MTTs each day and not much else. Occassionally playing some PLO online, nothing live...no real hands or big action to report.

But as depreciating assets go, it's one of the best. I look at it as I'm going to keep the car 4-5 years. Is it worth spending X$ a year over that period to enjoy this automobile?

out in 5th in the $109....just got shortstacked and had to shove. Maybe misplayed one hand with 88 when I could've shoved but instead played smallball and lost a pot.

i was beginning to think things like this never happened to you. nice job, again.

I'm having my worst run ever the past couple weeks. Can I complain here and get a 50k score tonight please? OK, probably not 50k since I don't play tourneys, but any sort of turnaround would be nice. Thanks.

Good luck grinding it out today, AF.

Just try to be careful when playing too many tables at once.

Please let's keep this thread to Assani's exploits.
Sorry. Didn't want to start a new thread for that one post, and I figured he would get a chuckle out of that HH. How has the live play been going, Assani? I heard some pro (I think Steve Zolotow on CardPlayer TV) say that the beginning and end of the WSOP is full of soft cash games, with the middle being a rough patch. A ton of the players that came for the beginning of the series go broke early, and the new fish money doesn't arrive in full force until the Main Event.

today kinda sucked. Only that one small cash. I went from 10K to 40K within the first hour in that Sunday Warmup, but other than that it was a completely uneventful day. Oh well. Gonna try to get to bed early(by 2AM) and stay on schedule this week so I can plya some WSOPs this week. $1500 PLO8 is on Tuesday, $1000+rebuys NLHE is on Wednesday(maybe too big for me though), $2000 NLHEis on Friday, and $1500 NLHE is on Saturday.

Assani, did you know that we had Chris Moneymaker play with us in our friday tourney?

29 players entered including him. He finished 29th.

Maybe this might convince you to play with us peons on fridays?

I have to admit, I would have figured that we would be hearing more stories from the WSOP cash games out of you. Any reason as to why or am I missing something?

Yea, I kinda hate live poker now....just burned out on it. I can't sit there for more than a few hours now without hating it and being bored. Even live MTTs are a grind to me, but I can do them due to the excitement factor.

I guess I can understand that. It just sounds like your one of the worlds best Santa Claus and your taking the month of December off from going to shoping malls. Figured this would be your "busy season", as far a live cards go.Either way, I'm happy to hear your taking some time off instead of geting your head in a bad place ahead of the Main Event, but I am just being selfish.

busted on the 3rd hand of yesterday's PLO8 WSOP, and........it wasn't even my shortest WSOP tourney this year

Folded to cutoff who limps(lol), I raise to 225 with AA8K double suited, blinds fold, cutoff calls.

Flop comes 5TK with 2 spades(I have spades). He bets 300, I raise to 1425, he pushes, I call. He has bottom 2 pair and a gutshot(A5TQ) and his hand holds.

I was a 55/45 favorite, but thats not really the point: With my hand(the king is important) I am never a huge underdog and I should have huge amount of fold equity. His hand is at best a small small favorite and is dominated a ton of times. Its a horrible play by him.

Gonna play live at the Wynn today, may sign up for the Main Event tonight, may play the $2000 NLHE on Friday too

unlucky IP, save it for the ME - post # referencing the above?

Played poker and had several Guiness chugging contests with Lamont Jordan last night. He won the Guiness chugging, I won the poker. Real nice and humble guy btw. Brad Booth was in the game for a while too. Wynn is great during WSOP, actually enjoyed myself playing live for the first time in a while.

Must be I don't understand what you mean. If he has KT, KK, TT, 55 then you can be a pretty big underdog, especially if he also has the spades (or a straight draw like QJTT or even worse, both). Certainly the K puts you in good shape against bottom two but there aren't that many people that are that bad. Given the hands he should have, you have to expect to be a fairly big dog. Just against a set with no redraws I'm thinking you are about a 2-1 dog.

the kings makes top set very unlikely, thus increasing my fold equity tremendously because its very hard to call pot sized raises when you don't have the nuts or a draw to a nuts usually.

Wouldn't disagree with anything else you wrote, just the part I bolded about being a huge dog. Certainly it doesn't make his play any better and I'm not at all saying you should play it any differently. Just that it was possible for you to be a pretty big dog, depending on your definition of pretty big (in Omaha, I'd say 2-1 is pretty big for an all-in hand).
