Great ep - love it when they don't wait until the finale to pull a shocker!
Didn't see it coming at all - thought Chris would flip
Comfortably numb theme throughout - got my excited to see Roger Waters in 2 weeks!

I for one will be glad when the series is finally over, due to the last couple of episodes. I think the scenes, the plots, and characters are losing their "edge". I wonder if HBO has something to do with the ruining of episodes before the end (like Deadwood). I can't really say that I am going to miss the Soprano's much after this season. With Tony's son turning out to be a head case, Carmella a head case (I wish Tony would get rid of her), Christopher gone, what’s really left? Maybe I am missing something that the rest of you get, but spending 20 minutes on the Christopher wake of a 50 minute show, means that they are running out of ideas. Good Bye, Soprano's, and I am sorry that the last season did not do you justice.

I enjoyed the last 40 min. more than the first 20, personally. So much going on there that harkened back to the Kevin Finnerty dream sequence last year. This is one of the first times that time has gotten away from me, and I was surprised and disappointed when the first credit flashed. Now, of course, we're left to wonder exactly how Tony "gets" it. Was this a reaffirmation of the Kevin Finnerty experience for Tony where he'll be more pragmatic and big-picture about life, or was the shot of the devil in the casino and his winning big thereafter a sign that Tony is now "selling his soul to the devil"?regularguy

There were a few other shots of him staring at lights. Also, when he was entering the casino with the girl and both of them high, he was looking up, heavenward almost, and then the devil image catches his eye instead. Also, the last AJ therapy session seemed almost exactly like prior ones we've seen from Tony. Interesting.

I think this episode makes it absolutely clear that Tony comes back all confident and ready to go after Phil and NY. Something is going to happen to AJ that Tony can blame on NY, giving him cause to go to war.
I think the series ends with Tony killing Phil and becoming the top dog in NY and NJ. A few surprises along the way, but that's how it ends and the Sopranos movie is all about how he handles being the big boss in the east.

Great episode. Last 20 minutes were sort of uneven, but I liked it.

This is how I interpreted it...
1. Tony's dream of him in Melfi's office telling her that he's relieved that Chris is gone etc, answers the question of why he killed Christopher.
2. Chris was his vice - he was Tony's bad luck. With him out of the way and his nervousness gone, he can revert back to his old self, his luck is back - it's like the monkey is off his back and he can function again.
3. What does he "Get"? He either gets that he must stand up to Phil and not back down or he now understands that what he really wants is to go to back to his fantasy place like his dream. I'm thinking the former.

With the Christopher thing, I don't care about the Kevin Finnerty dream sequence, or Tony's psyche, or Vito's son, or the Russian in the woods, or the Arabs. The rest of the series needs to be major action to hold my attention. There is a dead gorilla in the room; this is the biggest thing that's happened in the series IMO.

AJ crying to his shrink about why can't we all get along - what do you make of that? Is he thinking he needs to step in on his friends and not let them do the things they do - that he needs to take a stand (just like his father) or is it something else? If so, what?

I don't see how you can like the Vegas part more than the Christopher part, but thats me. The only good things that came out of the Vegas part was the hooch, and the call from Phil. "This is me hanging..(click)"

Speaking of that, remember the song that was playing when they were smoking a joint? Same song played at the beginning of "House Arrest", which was episode 11 of season 2... when Richie ordered the garbage to be dumped back on to the deli owner's property.
