It is comical seeing Drea de Matteo trying to romanticize her character. I remember her saying in one of those books that Adriana was one of the few good characters on the show. Yeah, a woman with mob ties who runs a crooked club and uses hard drugs regularly and covers up drug-related murders sure is a good person.

Interesting how many characters changed actresses. From the early parts I can notice that Silvio's wife, Big #####'s Wife and Chris's mom are different actresses from the ones who we normally recognize as the ones who played those roles.

I wish some of the Soprano threads from Old Yeller were still around.

The one I remember most was from "In Camelot". The thread had three distinct arcs:

1. Boy, this is a slow moving episode. When are they going to get to the main story?

2. Wait a minute, this is the main story.

3. This is the worst episode ever (this arc filled up almost three full pages).

I thought everyone in the world was pretty much in agreement that "Christopher" was the worst Sopranos episode ever.

Total and complete SLOP! Michael Imperioli probably shouldn't admit that he wrote this episode.

Silvio, intensely proud of his Italian heritage, wants to take action against protests for the Columbus Day Parade by Native Americans, believing it to be an insult to Italian-Americans. Without Tony's approval, Silvio and Artie Bucco, along with a few others, attempt to break up the demonstration where a Columbus effigy is to be burned. Silvio threatens them not to do so and sends Patsy Parisi to take it down. As they leave after being warned by the police, Little Paulie Germani has a glass bottle thrown at him and several others are injured. Tony learns about this and blames Silvio for intervening. Ralph Cifaretto meanwhile tries to threaten the protest leader, Del Redclay, to reconsider since Iron Eyes Cody—a popular Native American figure—is actually an Italian-American (which is true). Tony tries to pacify the situation by talking to an Indian chief to convince Redclay not to protest during the parade. Although this fails, the chief invites Tony and his crew to his casino to gamble. However, they do not realize it is Columbus Day until they drive off from the casino. Both the parade and protest occur without mob intervention, which upsets Silvio. Tony tries to calm him down by telling him how proud he should be for being who he is and not just his heritage.

Meanwhile at a luncheon meant to enforce Italian pride in women, the "mob wives" are singled out when the speaker discusses the stereotypes of being an Italian in America. After the luncheon, Gabriella Dante lectures Father Phil Intintola on how much the wives, especially Carmela, have given to the parish, and that he had no right to bring in a guest speaker who intended to shame them about how they make a living.

If you fast-forward through the old hag's revolting rendition of "Happy Birthday," the rest of the episode isn't terrible IMO.Junior was funny, trying to get permission to go to funerals. And there were degenerates playing poker, which is always nice.

Uncle Junior, going stir crazy while still under house arrest, begins going to every possible funeral he can, even when he knows the deceased only slightly, just to get out of the house. Later, he breaks down and is very depressed, while attending the funeral of the husband of Tony's Aunt Concetta, Uncle Zio, who only passed away 15 days previous, the strain could perhaps be because of problems with his medication. No doubt, the strain of attending multiple funerals has worsened his physical state and magnified his depressive feelings, making him shout out ..."What's the point, I can't take this #### anymore.." while being helped away by Bobby and Janice.Christopher begins to spend a lot of time with J.T. Dolan, a friend he met in rehab, who is a television writer. The two offer to support one another when they get the urge to use. Christopher introduces Dolan to high-stakes poker, seemingly oblivious to the potential for his friend to channel his addiction problems into gambling. After Dolan runs up $60,000 in debt and starts missing payments, Christopher and Little Paulie Germani come to his apartment, and give him a severe beating. J.T. loses some writing jobs, further escalating his problems. He eventually turns back to heroin, which causes Christopher to help direct him back toward rehab (after taking his BMW Z3 as a partial payment and making plans to collect more money after he gets out of rehab and gets better work).

Throw in all the mistakes he made while high through out the series, he was neither book smart nor street smart (relative to the other wise guys). Obviously very street wise compared to the average Joe.

I was thinking more of the characters we saw across a season or two at least, but yeah, those guys were pretty dumb. I don't think Brandon had a lot going on upstairs either.
