Anyone stayed at The D before?  thoughts?
Haven't stayed but have played.  Love it for people watching, video poker at The Long Bar with college games on the nice tvs, and playing the sucker cards in the Will Hill book upstairs.  Easy to play those on Saturday and then cash at Casino Royale on Sunday night at their machine.  And actually, for a small book with just a few tvs it's a  pretty cool little book.

This year I'm trying this Sigma Derby thing.  Tips appreciated!

poker gods have turned on me.   blinds are 2000 4000 now.  action 4000 8000 and I can't flop a hand.   lost about 8 good hands this hour.  34000.  will grind it out.

Alright who's going to be out here for the WSOP? Let's post dates, and try to grab some drinks if they overlap. I know @FatUncleJerryBuss and @Getzlaf15 will be out there. Who else?

I'm arriving SAT 6/3 and leaving THUR 6/8
My wife and I are there 6/29-7/4. I'm playing either the $1500 on 6/30 or the $888 on 7/1, maybe both. Right now I'm leaning towards the $1500 and seeing how it goes from there.

10 am Collusus.  Cav has 40k.  I have 15k after level 7.  started with 5k.
Cav still doing very well. He's about to cash.  I had 8k in  the BB and shoved after a raise and two calls with 44.  Had one caller with kq and he spiked q on river.

I cashed.   Long story short.  Don't know where Getz is, tried to call rick james.  Been up 40 plus hours.  Guy was a #### when I wanted a drink at the casino bar.  I tip him 5 bucks, and he says.  It will cost you 16 bucks if you don't put 20 in the slot.  I already have the drink.  He wanted the Preds to win so, I threw a 20 at him I said I hope you lose your bet #######.

So had to find a place to drink.  So went to the high limit slot room.  All the games look like trash.  But a worker is making sure one slot is clean.  I put in 100.  Then it said, keep hitting. So I did for 5 minutes.  And cashed out.  It was on in credits on the machine but when I cashed out it was 850.  I don't know how or why but I got it.

I hope you find Getz. We don't need any FBG getting lost in Vegas...

Busted 740th out of about 2300 entrants for the 4pm colossus.
Knew it would be a fast structure but I really didn't like it. After the first three levels it was mostly shove or fold for half the people at the table.

Going to take a look at cash games and daily tournaments at the big poker rooms next.

Played in another Omaha 8 tourney at the Venetian last night.   Ran so bad lol.   Last hand topped it off....

I get qq34 and raise and get two callers.  flop is 7q7.   We then get all of my 4k of chips in.   Guy turns over 77.   Unreal.  Turn card was an 8.   So I can still split and take the low side if I catch a decent low card.   River is a 3.  comedy.

A tip for Absinthe tickets. If you head to Caesars, there should Absinthe promoters giving away coupons outside the tent that's a bigger discount than the tix4tonight kiosks. I found this out the hard way last summer.
If I go and get the coupons, can I buy tickets for a night or two in advance?  Also, does it matter where you sit for that show since it is a tent show and not as huge as others?  I'm landing Friday night and thinking maybe get tix then for Sunday night show so I don't have to worry about it later.

Have my reservation for brunch at Yardbird and I think we may hit up dinner at Momofuku one night.  What other "can't miss" meals/snacks/bars should I hit up?

I'm not sure if you can buy tickets for the future, although I can't see why not. I would say the only "bad" seats are the ones behind the poles/ladders. Pretty much everywhere is good.

I feel like I read somewhere (this thread?) that the high top tables in the back are good for a group of 4.  Hoping to luck out with something like that if true.

Question about hotel pools

Going end of September (hotel still TBD but somewhere on the strip…probably Planet Hollywood or Linq, maybe Venetian).  Wife wants to spend some time by the pool while we watch football but can she just stroll in whenever she wants or is everything like a crazy pool party with DJ’s and expensive cabanas and stuff.  Or do they have separate regular pools and party pools?

There are definitely more subdued pools

Varies by property. Flamingo is a club atmosphere. Caesar's is very chill, and imo a better pool.

36 hours from now I'm on a plane to Vegas with wife and another couple.  Plan for now is:

  • Land around 8:30, check in, get some eats and drinks and see what is happening close to the hotel (The Delano).  Good quick/cheaper eats (or drinks) near there?
  • Saturday - no real plan, maybe pool for the morning after brunch at Yardbird.  Slot-crawl through the various casinos in the afternoon, starting at top of the strip and working our way back.  Maybe dinner/drinks in the Fremont area since it is supposed to be pretty hopping on a Saturday night.
  • Sunday - more pool time, probably see AbSINthe that night.  Need to figure more out here.  My goal is to hit it pretty hard this night and recuperate the next day.  Maybe dinner at the patio place at Paris that overlooks the Bellagio fountains?
  • Monday - rent a Cabana at the pool all day.  Later dinner at Momofuku.
  • Tuesday - drive out to Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire during the day, not sure what else to do until we fly out that night.
Any other suggestions to fill in the gaps?

not sure if Yardbird takes reservations or note, but the wait on a Saturday for brunch was 1.5 hours when I was there a month ago

Momofuku was just OK.  The room was very nice but none of the dishes blew me away.   We ordered a variety of stuff off the regular menu and not the ssam or fried chicken specials.

Flying in solo Saturday night.  Checking into the Rio and I'll register for the millionaire maker.  Maybe play some PLO but try and get a good nights sleep.

not sure what I'll do Sunday AM.  Check out of my room and check my bags.  Play the MM and try and bag.  If I bust in the first 1-3 levels I'll High tail it to planet Hollywood and check in and play flight 2 of PLO $465.

If I strike out there I'll play the PLO 450 at Aria on Monday.

if I bust there I'll be taking the red eye home.  Needless to say I hope I'm still there on Tuesday.

What is you had a 12 year old kid with you?  Hoover worth it?
Not a chance IMO.  It's interesting, but go someplace like the neon museum.  Or go fly the Grand Canyon or something.
