Vegas (4 Viewers)

Haven't been in several years but going with some buddies in a couple of weeks.  Anyone stay at Aria? Is it on par with Wynn, Encore etc?  Best restaurants?  Thx

Nobu is a fantastic restaurant but very spendy.  Jalapeño Yellowtail  is to die for.  As is Black Cod Miso.

We were debating going week 1 of the NFL season but hotel prices are ridiculous. I guess because it's the Raiders home opener? Anyone know of anywhere nice that has reasonable rates for that weekend? I'm seeing 1k/night in the good places for that Saturday. Circa sportsbook wants $2500 for the day (10-4:30) for one of those 4-6 person booths.

All I will say after my trip two weeks ago is Get Reservations well ahead of time. Weekdays might be fine but it was a mad house by Friday. Only reason I got into one buffet was because of Casino status, otherwise with no reservation I would have been SOL.

Resorts World has its soft opening tomorrow, may not have everything open for a few more weeks. But it'll be new and pretty, and given that they can't exactly lure Asian high rollers right now, they would love to see chetcrew in there.

Yeah, went last month and even two weeks before the trip, every restaurant reservation on casino property was booked, and this is with diamond status at Caesar's. Didn't really care, found some amazing local spots and off-property places that were just as good if not better than what we would have had on-property.

Just got home from Aria, we love it but maybe a hair below Wynn/Cosmo. Many good restaurants including STK, Jaleo and Catch....

Only had a car for one day, but used it to go to a highly recommended, hole-in-the-wall type breakfast place off-strip that was awesome.

+2

wife and I almost always end up at aria.

oddly enough considering @chet comment we are going in 3 weeks and staying at Nobu.
TIL Nobu is a restaurant and a Las Vegas hotel
Nobu is great but I’m not sure I’d want to say there.  The booths a small and not great for sleeping and the morning crew coming in for the day to prep is inconvenient to say the least after a long night of gambling.

Great food and they actually built a hotel tower on top of it to boot.

Plus if I remember right it’s dead center in the property and near poker and sportsbook.

I went 2 weekends ago and it was packed, Vegas is back and they are still lacking in staff so food took longer than normal so have some patience.

I saw that even downtown raised their table limits now.  I was hoping to go sometime this year.

My wife and 16 year old daughter are going out the week of July 19th and staying at the New York. We are going to just Uber and taxi around as needed because of the costs of rentals. We aren't looking for a five star sit down place, but what is a good buffet that we should think about getting a reservation for now.  We will probably do Rain Forest Cafe as that is a tradition every time we visit and my wife is so excited to do the Zak Bagans Haunted Museum tour.

Any other tips you guys have would be appreciated. I haven't been to Vegas in years, so I am excited to see all the changes.

Neon Museum is awesome if you haven't been there before and some good restaurants in the Arts District nearby as well.

Bachanal.  Spendy but worth it.

I have a two week work trip to Seattle and Las Vegas coming up at the beginning of August. I'm going to have my wife and 16-yo son join me in Vegas on my in-between days (it doesn't make sense to fly all the way back to Miami only to turn around and fly to Las Vegas a day later. The time we are there together (Friday afternoon through Sunday) will be over my son's birthday so I want to find something really cool to do. All of my searches for cool things to do with teenagers in Las Vegas have come up kind of lame and nothing I didn't already know. I'm sure that some of you are privy to something exclusive, unique and because this is FBG and I expect some idiotic responses, something that is appropriate for a 16-year old. That's what I'm looking for. And no, he isn't quite ready for hookers and blow.

The Mac King comedy/magic show is great for all ages.  He's very funny, clean, and a really good magician.  He used to be at Harrah's but is now at Excalibur.  When we took our son at 14 he loved it.  Recommended it to our friends who took their 18 year old daughter and 16 year old son, and they loved it as well.  Also, King performs in the afternoon so you can get out of the heat, have a cool drink, and have some fun.

You can see some clips on mackingshow.com and get tickets here: https://excalibur.mgmresorts.com/en/entertainment/mackingcomedymagic.html?fireglass_rsn=true#/fireglass_params&tabid=a32ebcd731b7281a&application_server_address=isolation2-us-west-2.wss.prod.fire.glass&popup=true&is_right_side_popup=false&start_with_session_counter=1

played in a big hold 'em tourney at The Orleans last week. $200 buy in, 240 players. I was dreaming of the $48K prize pool.

When the payouts went up, the prize pool was $35K. The Orleans scraped off 13 grand to run the tournament. That's 27% juice. Pretty disgusting imo. I hope no one plans to make a living at these tournaments. Impossible to beat that kind of vig.

Or maybe find an ATV tour or something in of the parks/desert areas.

Can he drive? Last time I was there, we rented a Slingshot car thingy and drove around Red Rock Canyon park. That was fun.

Would he like any of the cirque shows? Zip lining? Houseboat on the lake? The facades of the hotels (Venetian/palazzo, Paris, nyny, bellagio, etc)

great restaurants and pools. Water park.

Was thinking about the ATV option. That would be cool.

He has his permit but was lazy about getting it so he won't have his license until next May (Florida requires 1 year with a permit).

Machine guns looks kind of cool.

Not really into shows. Zip lining At Fremont would be cool. Won't be there long enough to warrant a houseboat, And not sure what you mean by the facades of hotels. We have been to Vegas before so looking for something unique and different.

Anyone check out the new Resorts World yet?

How is the poker room?

Where exactly is Resorts World? Near other casinos?

If you hadn’t been there, the different themes might have been fun

My son turns 21 in September, we’re booked at Hell’s Kitchen, Gordon Ramsay Steak and the new Amalfi by Bobby Flay

:porked:
The Linq High Roller is definitely worth a half hour of you and your son's time. It's basically an open bar for 30 minutes with some awesome views. Book it for a time at night. It's actually a short walk to Hells Kitchen.

We went last night for the fireworks party. It’s huge and awesome, but it’s pretty far out of the way.  It’s even past Encore. We stopped and played at the Venetian and Wynn to breakup the walk. Dawg House had cool live music in a bar/sportsbook setting. Uncle Kracker was one of them.

Saturday night, McGregor UFC fight at T-Mobile at the same time as Garth Brooks sold out show at Allegiant.  South end of the Strip is going to be a poop show.

Considering a trip in the fall. Looking for a good location on the strip, modern rooms, good size sports book/casino. Would Aria be the preferred MGM property?

Probably Aria or Bellagio, but MGM and Mirage are fine and cheaper if you care about price.

ETA: Bardot restaurant in Aria is amazing.  French toast is incredible if you go during brunch.

I think you will be disappointed in Aria sportsbook. Any of the other 3 are better.

Has the Cosmo fallen out of grace?  Freaking loved that place a few years back.

eta - best pizza ever from that backroom place

I don’t know Cosmo that well, but I’m pretty sure they’re not an MGM property.

Cosm still has a good rep.....MGM overall kinda stinks.  If that is required, yes Aria.  If you want to be in a baller book, Venetian or Circa (taxi/uber ride downtown required).

Circa is the best sportsbook by a mile.

That is grotesque

I’m a wuss but if he has the stones for it the rollercoaster off top of the Stratosphere

Thinking about seeing Bruno Mars at the Park Theater later this month.  There are a few tickets left on TM (not re-sale).  Lowest is $720, very good seats.  $875 for better, near the back of the lower/front tier.  $1450 for seats w/ service.  And get this, $8K for front row (two left).  What's weird is the night before (Friday), there are almost identical front row seats (2) for "only" $5K.  WTF?

We'll be comped at the Venetian so I'll ask the host there but I highly doubt we're at a level that would get this done.  Do any of you ballers have any other ideas?  We just want to get in the joint but I don't see a thing on Craigslist, yet.

I've never even listened to one of his albums but I wanna see this guy in his prime.

You haven't listened to him and willing to pay those ticket prices?

Yikes. Ball out I guess. There should be a lot of women (not dry) in the crowd.
