Vegas (4 Viewers)

Anyone has a good dinner out there lately? Looking to take the wife to a place in November that has good food, cool atmosphere. Thinking either Strip House @ PH or Botero @ Encore. Anyone have experiences with either of those places or any others? Ones we like from before are SW, Delmonico, Mix.

I just booked a flight to Vegas from NYC, only $239 - I don't remember it ever being that cheap (flying out of NYC).

I saw a few people asking for recommendation for a Sportsbook. Hands down, best place to watch games is Stadium at Palazzo. Went there last last weekend. No where else can even come close to the experience there. Really good food too.

It looks pretty cool. I actually like the pool scene they share with Venetian, particularly that center bar with the TV's. I think I'll end up staying there, Saturday nights are always jacked up an extra $200 though. I was thinking of staying at Red Rock Saturday night and then make my NFL bets over at Palazzo and watch the games there.

There must be some convention going on in Caesar's Palace, I thought I saw some deals for like $90 a night so I checked out what ONE NIGHT would cost on a Saturday, 10/3 - $600 :lmao:

How is Penthouse (formerly Sin)? I'm seeing mixed reviews. Apparently it is down the street from Mandalay Bay.

Can't wait, I will be there on Friday. Trying to figure out what restaurant to eat at (I like to pony up $$$$$ for 1 really good meal whenever I go).

I am thinking CUT ot Delmonico's.

Good to here. I planned on checking it out next weekend. It used to be the 40/40 club, I believe. When that tanked, they turned it into the sportsbook. I am also going to check out the Hilton book.

Going to be in Vegas September 30 to Oct. 3, (bachelor party and wedding). You going to be around?

I arrive Oct 3rd, so will probably miss you by a day.

It's a shame. Anybody else around let me know.I may have to hit up Assani. Or convince Woz to come, just to see if he is a real person.

I really like the NI9E Steakhouse at The Palms. Been there a few times and always had a great meal and excellent service.

I went to Striphouse last time I was in Vegas. Got a filet. Very good.

Just got back.....drink service at the Hilton Sportsbook was very good
Good to hear. Free drinks? Or vouchers? Or neither? I am definitely going to check out the Book, regardless, I have heard good things.
Free drinks...no vouchers required. was there all day sat/sun and rarely went without a drink in my hand.
Wow. Even better. I am staying at the Bellagio, but I am not a big fan of their sportsbook (even with their free drinks). Just not a good atmosphere for watching the games. I really liked Planet Hollywood. It was small, but there is always a lively cool crowd. Problem is, they only give vouchers for every 50 bet. Looks like I will be checking out the Hilton for at least College Football games on Saturday. If it is good, I will watch NFL on Sunday there.

Loved the M! Wife loved it even more!great rooms, friendliest dealers and servers i've run into in years! Veloce bar on the 16th floor has awesome view and happy hour (Sun-Thurs). 2 for 1 mojitos and martinis, and sushi for 2 for $10. left them some money on the craps tables but recovered most of it on video BJ and in the sports book. Sports book has mobile gaming machines, i didn't check them out but apparently you can be playing video poker while sitting in the book? Sounded cool.it was pretty dead thursday night but picked up a bit on Fri/Sat. Still not nearly as crowded as the strip. Dealers were happy to chat and point out things (wife wanted to learn craps and they were more than happy to help, even after she tagged the stickman with a die) :lmao:Highly recommend this place!!Went to mandalay for dinner fri with the bride and groom. Gotta say i was not impressed with the Shanghai Lilly or the casino/bar.Vegas had wind and a freak rain storm on Sat which dropped the temps. Made for a nice change from the 110 friday.
 Never stayed at M but was there opening weekend and loved the place. If you're not staying on the Strip, or you've been to Vegas 20 times and don't care about being on the Strip, this is the best local casino, IMO.

My wife is at the hilton as I type this for a convention. Yes she is alone. Yes this should be a Friday topic. We were at the Hilton a few years back to see a buddy play a show there and it was kind of a dump. According to her they must have renovated because the place "looks a hell of a lot better".

I'm probably going to go the Priceline route (will check hotwire first) for 1 Saturday night. Saturday's always cost +$200 more then any other night of the week (Friday possibly an exception). I'm not willing to spend $300+ for 1 night in Vegas when all of the other nights are half as much. Has anyone done this recently (specifically covering a Saturday)? I'll check out better bidding and see what my best options are.

http://www.betterbidding.com/

Damn Priceline has turned into a scam...

I chose 5 star Las Vegas (Strip North) which should narrows the choices down to:

5* Palazzo REVIEW

5* Trump International REVIEW

5* Venetian REVIEW

5* Wynn REVIEW

My bid was $150 (for 1 Sat. night), it said I would have to pay $27 in taxes on top of it, I looked up all of these hotels and the closest one was Trump at $249 a night so I accpet and enter in all of my billing information. Then it tells me it could not accept the $150 bid, but they would accept $208 (+$35.82 in taxes) for a total of $243.82 which is $5 less then what I could have gotten if I had just booked at Trump.

No thanks.

I ended up doing Red Rock Resort for that Saturday night, Hotwire listed it for $119 +21 tax. Red Rock Resort website shows it as $160 (+tax I assume).

I think it is total BS that Trump is a 5 star on the strip. This is relatively new to Priceline, I think. It is not on the strip, and there is no casino. I got "stuck" with the Trump towers when I bid last time and was really pissed. I called Trump and Priceline and got it reversed and just booked directly with the Venetian.

it was a little smoky on Sunday, but that's probably b/c we were sitting in the back row of the nice chairs (closer to the slots)....but on Sunday they have the option of watching the games in the hilton theatre (no free drinks there , but $2 20oz draft).

Plenty of seating? Going on an NFL Sunday, what time should we get there? Sounds like they have plenty of TVs and lots of props. I need a sportsbook to spend all on Dec 6 at, and I'm hoping I don't have to spend the entire day before searching out the best. Thanks for the info!

Best night club to take the wife too? Moderate drinkers, she likes to dances, I hate it.
Coyote Ugly at NYNY.
good god does that place suck. you liked it there?
:thumbup:Disney version of Hogs & Heifers in NYC. Now THAT place is hardcore. Last time I went, this happened (place was jammed to the point of barely being able to move):Guy in front of me waiting for drinks : "Uhh... yeah - can I have 3 Buds.."Hot bartender in microscopic outfit : "And 3 shots of what?"Guy : "No... no shots.. just 3 Buds."Tender : "3 Buds and 3 shots of what? Whiskey?" (she grabs whiskey bottle and starts to pour)Guy : "NO ! No shots... just the beers."Bartender stops, gets up on top of the bar with a megaphone and turns the music offBartender : "I want everyone to look at this dork right here !" (points to the guy) "This guy's not drinking properly. Tell him what we do with p*ssies here...."The entire place starts booing him and throwing empty cigarette packs and napkins at him.. screaming obscenities.Bartender begins chanting into the megaphone : "P*SSY !! P*SSY !! P*SSY !!!" Entire bar begins chanting along. She hops down off the bar and sprays him with the seltzer gun for good measure as he slinks into the crowd with his beers. She then gets to me :Me : "Uhhh... 3 Buds."Her : "And 3 shots of what?"Me : "Wild Turkey. 100 proof if you got it."

yeah, they made a movie about it. there's a hogs & honeys or coyote ugly bar in probably every city these days. I think there's 2 in Chicago, definitely one in Tampa, and I'm sure a bunch of others around.

the place in vegas absolutely sucked the only time I went in there. one of the worst bars I've ever been to.

"Get down off the bar Slutty McHerpeson and pull my beer."

Most of them are a bunch of BS. They opened a Hogs & Honeys here in Orlando a couple years ago - I think it was open 3 months before they shut the doors. The Hogs & Heifers in the meatpacking district of NYC is the real deal, though. They make you drink until you're about to pass out then toss you out the door to make room for others. My brother got his finger broken there on his first visit because he had his hand on the bar when the bartenders got up to start dancing. One chick wearing high heel boots stomped right on his hand, cracking a bone in his finger and kicking his $5 beer over simultaneously. You have to be serious about getting wasted and keep your head on a swivel in that joint.

I used to go to Red Rock West, saw a guy's jacket catch on fire because he was standing to close to the bar when they light it on fire, good times. RRW is closed now though.

Unsurprising. I'm surprised Hogs & Heifers is still open - I figure they would have had to have been sued by now for either overserving on severely injuring someone. Or is that closed too?

Not sure, I just found this gem:

http://nycbp.com/news/index.html

They have a message board devoted to (nyc) bartenders (97% female or so they claim). Looks like a lot of the Red Rock girls are working at a place called Iron Horse by South Street Seaport.

2 of us got down there about 8-8:30am (games start at 10) IIRC. We ended up saving a seat for the 3rd guy. They have every game on a big screen, with one of them having sound. As I mentioned before, you can go sit in the theatre (plenty of room) if you wish...however no free drinks there (they do have $2 20oz miller lite draft) and $1 hot dogs and snacks. No smoking in there too, but you don't have the advantage of looking at all of the lines and whatnot on the big board.

Going to be in Vegas September 30 to Oct. 3, (bachelor party and wedding).
I'll be at Caesar's Sep 28 - Oct 1. Got plans for the 30th?
30th is the night of the bachelor party, which I think is the usual: dinner, gambling, strip joint. Not quite sure where we'll be yet for the gambling. Possibly starting at Ceaser's for blackjack and craps, to start. I usually end up going overboard with the gambling and ignoring the strip join, but hope springs eternal. You are welcome to join, if interested.

Doing bach. party in Vegas and have a q. I was thinking suite with multiple rooms. I'm on lasvegas.com and can't seem to find anything more than like one, maybe two rooms. How do I find these things? I was picturing a suite with 5 rooms. Is it just in the movies?
