Has anybody stayed at the Quad (New IP)?
Kind of sucks the IP is gone. That was the place to stay on a guy trip and you wanted a great location with a cheap, no-frills room.
They are re-skinning the building, and removing all Asian themes inside and out, but the cheap, no-frills rooms aren't going anywhere. Booked March 15-17 (Fri/Sat/Sun) for a total of $146 on a Black Friday sale.

Stayed there in September and it was horrible. We were hardly in the room, but it was still bad. I'd rather pay double and stay at Harrah's or Flamingo next time. To each his own. Carpet disgusting, hall carpet a hot mess, and bed was little more than a spring with a thin pad on it.

Sounds like old IP.

Yep, it's still there. And I also passed out in it.

The wife and I are thinking of heading out in February. A tossup between the Aria and MGM Grand (where we stayed 2 years ago and liked it).

Every time I go I'm going during a huge convention week which limits my options for a reasonably priced room (April). Any suggestions? Not willing to go more than $140 a night. Anyone got any coupons or specials expiring they can't use? Hook a brother up!

DD... may or may not work, but PM me and I'll give you a friends and family code for marriots, which includes the Cosmopolitan. May be able to hook you up depending.

Try bidding on Priceline. I just helped a co-worker get the Venetian for $120 a night this Friday and Saturday.

:goodposting: If you can't find any coupons, definitely use priceline. Based on the buy it now prices, you can pretty much predict which casino you are going to get, and you can usually get a pretty good price. Go to betterbidding.com if you need help on using priceline effectively. Which week are you going?

Where are the good sportsbooks on the strip these days? My wife and I do an annual trip for March Madness every year and we used to be able to go to places like the Venetian early enough to reserve a seat and watch/bet on the games, but last year they had a new thing where you could only sit if you had a ticket and you only got a ticket after placing a minimum $500 bet. We ended up at the LV Hilton which wasn't bad because they opened a huge theater and put on a bunch of games, but it kind of sucks because its way off the strip.

Didn't stay there, but went to Hash House A Go Go approx 20 days ago. It was a big cluster#### with all the construction out front. Avoid..for now.
Was in LV again last week for wild card playoffs and the construction in front of IP was even worse than my November trip. They've shut down a lane and put up a barricade along LV Blvd and have displaced foot traffic out into the street in order to get by. Think NYC and those boarded up scaffold overhead walkways. Avoid..for now...still.

Hotwire is now providing a list of hotels when you do a search. Pretty easy to pick out which one you're getting. If it's 4 star south and price is too good to be true, it's the Tropicana. If it's 5 star south and no casino is listed, it's Vdara5 star north, no casino, Trump4 star north with a really good price, probably Treasure Island

Curious what you can get. I'm thinking a "good deal" at the Cosmo is probably still going to be outrageously high.

I find that you are usually in pretty good shape bidding about $50-70 per night below the "buy it now" rate for the 5 star hotels in Vegas. Betterbidding.com is a must. You can find the hotel lists and star levels, and that REALLY helps.

I got hosed once on Priceline because they used to have Trump listed under their five star north hotels. They have since moved Trump to its own category (I forget the name now), so that's good.

In a similar vein, I once accepted a 4 star (can't remember if north or south) and ended up about 2 blocks east of the strip at the Westin Causarina. Wasn't too bad, but I'm pickier now and I'd be pissed if I wound up there again.Lately I've found Vegas isn't worth Pricelining much any more if you hit the Vegas deals sites (Smartervegas.com, broadwaybox.com, etc) and/or Hotwire.

Getting to any place on the strip for March Madness is going to be rough. Before I lived out here, I remember we managed to get bleacher seats, but it was during the Sweet 16. I was also in the theatre last year. It's probably the best place to go tbh. Only downside imo is there not being a cocktail waitress. Positives are no smoking, and beers are only $2, I believe, plus they have $2 hot dogs. If I had to suggest any other places, would probably be south on the strip, like Mandalay. I'm sure you'd still have to get there really early. At least if you go to the theatre at LVH, you can arrive whenever and there will be seats.

For those of you who are Marriott rewards members, you can use your points towards the Cosmopolitan. It's pretty reasonable that way.

It's also a great hotel / casino. EASILY my new fav in vegas. The Marquee nightclub, depending upon who the act is, can be off the hook as well (though I prefer XS at the Encore, personally), although just staying at the Cosmo will not get you in on it's own right.

Unless it's changed in the last year, there are few gamblers at Cosmo.

This one should get some entertaining comments... The GF and 4 of her friends are headed out to Vegas in July for a Bachelorette Party. Girls are in their late 20's / early 30's and all single except for the bachelorette (obviously) and my girl. 3 are very attractive (solid 8-9s when cleaned up), 2 are decent but unremarkable (5-6's). It appears the maid of honor has a hookup with Palms and has lined up a 2 Bedroom Suite at the Palms for half price:http://www.palms.com/accommodations/las-vegas-2-bedroom-suite/The girls are not big gamblers and will be focusing on:• Drinking by the pool during the day• Late afternoon Nap• Going out to bars and possibly club or two at nightTips for drinking by the pool if they're trying to save some cash? Will pool security at the Palms give a group of attractive girls #### for walking in with water bottles (presumably loaded with vodka)? How tough to they police that ####. Couple of the girls are cheap and will be put off by $15 drinks. Yes, I know guys will buy them drinks or they can mooch off cabana dudes. What's up with the club scene out there these days? Girls get in free? Skip lines? Should they call ahead and get hosts/lists squared away in advance? Decent spots in Palms? They're not so much the shiny microdress and 5" heels types. Other good options? The Bride to be wants to hit Thunder from down under one night. Two of the single bridesmaids are straight up whores and insisting that if they're paying $60 to see naked dudes they want it up close and personal :lmao: ... and thusly are inquiring about male strip clubs or other options. I don't really expect the FBGs to be experts on this but ya never know. :P Bring on the jokes/advice ;)

I can't imagine anyone checking water bottles at the pool. Ever. Can't help you with the make strippers, though.

:lmao: Didn't think so. Thanks GB.Reviews on yelp seem to indicate that they won't let people bring water bottles in? Is this just for outside guests for events like Ditch Fridays... or do they enforce that for guests too? Reviews talk about searching purses and such.

Just got back this week from my annual trip. Stayed at Flamingo...nothing special but not bad (especially for free). The Quad is supposed to be renovated soon but it's still a little dumpy. I know it's not even close to the best but my favorite buffet is still man bay (the pasta stand is awesome). Tried to stick exclusively to poker but couldn't resist a little blackjack and sports book. Won an even grand. but would have been 1,200 had I stuck to the game of skill. Ran into Dennis Rodman at fatburger :lmao: . He's just as weird in real life. Also met Pete Rose and got an autographed ball........ . Had no clue that he lives in Vegas now and basically works 20 days a month doing signings. He admitted that he still bets on sports lol. No greater place in the world.........

I'm headed there on 1/30 for our annual Super Bowl trip. Great times will be had. Golfing the Desert Pines Saturday. Anniversary dinner with the wife @Paris overlooking the Bellagio fountains. Can't wait!

Aria is a great place. Didn't see any kids around when we stayed there. Pool has a 30-something set. Casino rules.

The pool at the palms is eh.If they really want a pool party go to: encore beach club and marquee day club. Rehab on Sunday at hard rock is a crazy party...the other two are fun but they're a little more uptight because they're where people go to be seen.Women can get by in Vegas just by paying for their flight and hotel room. If they are as attractive as you say they are they'll have no problems getting in for free either through the bouncers or finding some scrub guys.

I'd be surprised if they could get into the pools with water bottles. I've only been on the weekends, but they don't let outside food or drink in (even when the hot girls try to bring it). They will have no problems getting in free to virtually any club in town if they are as attractive as you say they are. And most likely with little to no wait. Although the microdresses and the stilletos get in quicker/easier. I would recommend they get there earlier rather than later, though. The two "big" clubs at Palms are Moon and Rain. Both were big during the Real World days, but have lost some of their luster. Marquee, XS and Chateau are widely considered to be the "it" clubs. They may want to check out HYDE at Bellagio. When I was there in September they had open bar (Vodka and Champagne) for the ladies on Friday.Know virtually nothing about male entertainment, but do know that Olympic Garden has male dancers upstairs and female dancers downstairs.

Yeah... Umm... These chicks are NOT into the 21yo annoying fist pumping guido scene from rehab. Plus, thats on sunday and theyre flying out. Once women hit about 23-24 they are pretty much over that type of over the top guy scene. :yes:I'm looking into beach club / day club but again, they're not the implant/attentionwhore/stiletto crowd so not sure they'll be into that vibe either... Looking for a fun party but nothing over the top either. I am looking into those two though. Thanks for the heads up. My guess is they will want one lively day at the pool (likely ditch Friday at palms), then one more subdued recovery day at the pool (likely Saturday at palms since its there)... Then Sunday will be loading up to roll.

Reno sucks. At least you're going in the winter and can snow board.
I have to disagree, Reno is a great seedy little town. Now, if you head there with Vegas in mind you will be disappointed but I've always preferred it to Tahoe. The Peppermill is a great spot. It all depends on personal taste but personally I like some of the down and out qualities of the city.

Good info here, thanks.... Yes I'm now beginning to realize the water bottle thing just ain't gonna fly. C'est la vie... They'll just have to shoot the locks off their wallets or smile pretty at some dip####s in a cabana for a couple minutes. I had read the same about OG on jack Colton's site. They have all sorts of bachelorette party packs (likely same as Bach party) where they send a limo. Is OG safe for a pack of ladies assuming limo in / taxi out? I've passed along the host name (Sophie) so they're on their own with that now. :lol:Thanks

Yeah...
The regular pool at The Cosmo is awesome and sounds like something they would enjoy then. Non-hotel guests.can get in but they just have to sign in. That's was two years ago in June so not sure now and in July.

Well looks like the groom has decided on Vegas as well. As best man it looks like ill be planning our own visit here in late July - early sept. Any dates to EXPLOIT/AVOID? Prob looking to avoid madhouse weekends (ala Labor Day) to avoid any premium pricing. Assuming pool season is winding down / ending in early sept? Group looks to be 6-10 guys. We are more well funded / willing to spend than the ladies. Likely will budget ~1000/day walking money (over hotel/airfare). Have a contact for a host at OG that does the standard limo + table(s) + 2 for 1 bottle service + free round of shots + no cover. Say 6 guys with 2 bottles at 50+tip ea is a good deal considering cover is 20-30 no? Have only been to the now defunct seemless but reviews point to OG not being the shiniest gem but having a slightly more chill vibe and still attractive talent? Rhino seems to be the other option but word is the lappers aren't as good due to thev layout and is more about getting to the VIP. I see us spending more time out front and drinkin / lappers and maybe sending the bachelor back for a bit.

June 21-23 is edc weekend. A bunch of raver/people will be out.If you want to go to pool parties or clubs without buying bottle service all the time buy pre-sale tickets. Usually cheaper and separate line from general admission and sometimes faster than bottle service. Works great for guys going to the Wynn venues (Encore beach club/xs/surrender) as they are the 2nd most popular behind the Cosmo venues (marquee day club/marquee night club) but the Cosmo venues are pretty strict with the 1:1 guy: girl ratio to get in line if no bottle service. So ideally if you're a group of guys...get bottle service at the Cosmo venues and go presale at the Wynn properties. That way you get more bang for your buck if you're not doing bottle service the whole time.Never really into strip clubs in Vegas, since I had enough fun at the clubs.

I'm headed there on 1/30 for our annual Super Bowl trip. Great times will be had. Golfing the Desert Pines Saturday. Anniversary dinner with the wife @Paris overlooking the Bellagio fountains. Can't wait!
Ahhh.... Mon Ami Gabi..... Love this place. Best "Overall" Restaurant in Vegas Scenery, Value, quality and most importantly location. My wife and I go multipe times when we are in town. We have been for the super bowl a few times.... it's awesome.

Not sure what those EDC dates have to do with my plans for late july or august? These guys are all in our 30s and not interested in the rave scene (nor in going to vegas in June). Talked to the best man and it looks like his thoughts were:

Bottle Service at Night Club:

Not interested. The extent of his desire to hit clubs is to maybe drop by some of the 2nd/3rd tier joints and doesn't even want to screw with places like XS or Marquee). Just not his scene and I pretty much concur. My club kid days are about a decade behind me. More laid back/smaller places like GhostBar (been..had a good time) and such where getting in isn't a huge fiasco but there is still a good vibe/scene is going to be our likely stop ins. Suggestions for places like that?

Bottle Service at Shake Joint:

Definitely going to happen one night. Debating between Olympic Gardens or Spearmint Rhino. Word is OG has a better "out front" dance scene and SR hustles hard for the 200/30 and 400/60 dances in the VIP. Likely we will be sending the bachelor to the back room periodically while mostly just getting plowed and tipping / grabbing $20 dances out front. Looks like Free cab, 2 for 1 bottles (@350ea), free entry, private table/booth are pretty common for groups of 6-8 well dressed guys coming with cash to spend?

Cabana for Pool Party:

Since we'll be at the Palms, leaning toward doing Ditch Fridays. I know it's not the hottest party in town anymore, and No 16 will chide me for not going to Rehab or Marquee but frankly I like the idea of lower cabana minimums, and just being able to stumble down from our rooms. Looks like Cabanas have $1500min for Ditch... does that sound right to you guys? Would be a group of 6-8 guys so 200-300ea range should cover it. I guess the deal is to contact the host at Palms and arrange through them? Better tip to host gets better cabana location?

Bar Hopping....

Primarily we'll be spending a lot of our time bar hopping. Not opposed to getting bottles depending on cost / scene. Definitely looking for some more traditional BARS too though... less club/ultralounge and more bar/pub. Suggestions?

Thanks guys :banned:

I will be in Vegas Monday night next week. Basically an add on to a boys' ski trip in Utah. Staying at the Wynn. Quick hit.

Didn't see the July/August time frame in your original post. Just thought of edc as one if those sleeper weekends with higher rates. Also check for any upcoming UFC events for other non holiday sleeper weekends that could cost more than usual.Just not a fan of the palms property, probably because it does skew older. A smaller place I like is Lavo at the Venetian or Palazzo (?).... the allure there is that they usually have ladies drink for free until 11 (Sunday for sure, though I think Friday and Saturday too) so they idly end up with a solid ratio and bunches of chicks. Bottle service probably isn't as much as other places.

Wet Republic at MGM is a solid pool party, right below marquee and encore beach club. Last time my group of 5 girls and 6 were able to get a table by the bar, still ready access to the pool.for only $500 minimum.

If you've been to the Palms properties before and dig it, then can't argue with that. From my experiences there, is skip it and head to other places.
