Interesting. Maybe our expectations where just too high, but our room really blew. It was by no means a suite. It was tiny.Maybe I got lucky but my room at the West Wing was fine, I think it was even a suite of sorts, I always do the $20 trick at the counter for a free upgrade. Also I got a friend looking at airfare right now for next month. I got 2 really good time slots for in and out of NYC area both non-stops for $349 incl. tax. To get the same flights I got today you need to pay about $1200 RT.
10 minutes tops. Can anyone tell me how long of a cab ride (and venture a guess on the price) it is from downtown Freemont Street to the Wynn/Encore area of the strip? The wife has a business conference at the Wynn in October, but it looks like what we'd pay for one night at the Wynn could cover our entire lodging bill downtown. Just curious how long of a taxi ride it would be and how much it would cost to do that.
My guess is the cab will cost 20 bucks. Cabs in Vegas are really expensive, I am guessing the rates are so high because everything is so close. Can anyone tell me how long of a cab ride (and venture a guess on the price) it is from downtown Freemont Street to the Wynn/Encore area of the strip? Nah, that's too high. Wynn is North Strip. $12 plus tip is more like it.My guess is the cab will cost 20 bucks. better then kayak.com?just tried it, looks like a kayak.com clone, but not nearly as good of resultsI just came across a website, (just like travelaxe that searches hotels though a number of sites) called fly.com
It searches a bunch of discount carriers, and finds the best prices.
So far I have not found any deals, but it is in BETA

It sounds crazy but try the steak house in Circus Circus.kaso said:Heading there on March 12th with my fiance and another couple.
We are looking for a really nice steak place, a place to play some cheaper table Black Jack, and some other spots that would be considered "can't miss"...
Since I haven't been there before we are doing a fair bit of research. But to be honest, I have read so much that I can't keep it all straight or determine which review should hold more weight. So I figured the FFA would be my best bet to having a great time... Whatchya got?!

Del Frisco's - PorterhouseIf cheaper blackjack means $5, those tables are more frequent due to lack of crowds lately. I was their for a playoff weekend and the town was pretty dead. Played $5 blackjack at Monte Carlo, Hard Rock, Tropicana, Excalibur. I'd guess you won't find it too difficult to find. If you want cheaper than that, head downtown.Heading there on March 12th with my fiance and another couple. Is this for the Panorama Suite?? If so that is a phenomenal price. We are going to TI and got a Tower Suite for $240 per night first weekend of the tourney. I'd actually like to try the PH Panorama Suite but the price they quoted me was more like $500 per.
No kidding. How the heck did you get that for $200 a night? On the website, you can't get it for less than $about $600.Is this for the Panorama Suite?? If so that is a phenomenal price. I think SW at the Wynn is the best of them all. Delmonico is great, but SW has food just as good or better, and a much cooler atmosphere. I think Toby Keith has a place down there somewhere mid-strip.If you just want to kick back and drink a few beers, a lot of casinos have a lounge with live music. It's going to be mostly standards (motown, 70's rockish stuff, 90's pop).Bally's has a little off casino lounge that usually has a nice little vibe going.I am headed to Vegas on March 5th. I have read all 8 pages of this thread. I took some notes. Anyone else have a suggestion for a bar (not clubs) where you can just kind of drink beer? I am not a wholly anti-club guy. However I am headed out there with a bunch of hunting/fishing types who won't take kindly to velvet ropes or "look at me" dudes in reflective shirts. These guys want to listen to rock and maybe country and drink cold beer. Any suggestions?
I'm interested in this too.I'll be staying at Bally's for March Madness. Is there a particular area I should ask ($20) the clerk for? North Tower? Is there a group that faces the strip?

Good call. Word of caution though, it gets LOUD in that pit area. It's not the ideal place if you want to kick back.Saw mini-KISS thereCarnival Court outside Harrahs on the strip..There will be clusters of women tourists and it is not a long stumbling distance to your strip hotel room.

Alright this may not be the best 'bar' option, but a small group can get pretty wasted and take over the bar/tables if no one gets tooo crazy..
Def helps to have a Harrahs players card with recent (6 month activity) on it,but here is a site of where when the $20 worked and I see Bally's mentioned.linkI'll be staying at Bally's for March Madness. Hinezer said:I just booked a last minute flight to join a couple friends March 11th-15th. One of the friends had a room to himself, so I'm just going to stay with him, but he doesn't get in until the 12th (I saved $150 by flying in early). So I'm looking for a place to stay at on the 11th.
My options look like this:
Imperial Palace: $25 (classic), $35 (deluxe)
Bally's South Tower: $40
Flamingo Deluxe: $45
Harrah's Deluxe: $50
Rio Delux: $50
Really the room is for one night, so it doesn't matter too much, but I guess my question is if it's worth the extra $15 or $20 to upgrade from IP to Bally's/Flamingo. Are there any perks to staying at the casinos that are little bit 'higher class'? I know with the Flamingo they've got the nice pools, but they don't open until March 15th. This is one the day that I might stay around the hotel since my friends won't be there.
I was also wondering about transportation. We're planning on making the trip to the Rio/Palms, is a taxi a must or is there a shuttle from the Strip? Also after being sheltered from In-and-Out Burger my entire life, I'm looking to stop by there. How far from the Strip is it? And we're looking to keep costs down so that we can gamble more, is there a convience store or so
mething on the Strip where we can get some beer for our room and maybe some snacks? TIA

If you are just going to be by yourself, it makes no difference, but I would not stay at the IP to save $20. You are going to gamble, right...20 bucks is nothing, you just saved 150 on the flight. I'd stay wherever you are going to be for the other days unless it's a great deal more money...otherwise you gotta haul your luggage and stuff around the next day...that's a pain. If not, for the price, Bally's and Flamingo are both good options.
You will need a cab to go to the Rio/Palms from the strip. Drinks are free while gambling. Sit as a group, while playing some penny slots and tip the waitress. If you all sit together and take turns watching each other spin a few times, you can play for quite a while and not pay for the drinks, other than tips.
Well the IP is where I will be staying the rest of the weekend. Wasn't my choice but I'm alright with it since the location is great. I didn't go into Bally's the last time I was there, how does that compare to Flamingo? If you are just going to be by yourself, it makes no difference, but I would not stay at the IP to save $20. Isn't IP scheduled to be imploded soon?ip isn't that bad, you aren't living in the room anyway....
Awesome! Have a great time.Leaving next Sunday for my first ever trip there. Wife booked us Sunday-Wednesday (Thursday morning red-eye) with flight, hotel at TI and 2 free cirque du soleil tickets for $650. I'm pumped and this thread will be read in its entirety soon.
I was there this past weekend for NASCAR. It was insane.....Ill be going back March 13th and 14th ill check back then since it should be a "normal" weekend. I live about 1.5 hours from Vegas so I am a regular.Has anyone been lately that can report on how crowded or not it was. I'm curious to hear a report from someone who goes fairly regularly. I go to small Indian reservation casinos and boats around where I live and there doesn't seem to be any shortage of players.

I'll be staying some place in Vegas on Thursday and Friday nights of March Madness (19 $ 20 of March). Anyone else gonna be there? I'll likely be broke by around 4:00 PM on the 20th, so that would be a perfect time to cornhole.
I booked the same 'free Cirque tickets deal' for May. $700 at Mandalay Bay. Which show did you get into? We were told 'O' wasn't avaialble, so we booked 'Love'. We called and got tickets in like row DD in the balcony, and the two other couples we are going with called later that day and got tickets in the 4th row. I called back and they said the tickets weren't exchangable, and that their must have been multiple cancellations for those seats to open up. Oh well, I guess they're still free.Leaving next Sunday for my first ever trip there.
