If Favre stays under 290 yards passing, I have a pretty strong chance to hang on to the #1 overall position for the ALL game...

No one in the top 10 has a player in MNF...and I have at least a 30 point lead on anyone below that....

:blackdot:

I appreciate your insights...you convinced me to change a few picks :)
Who leaves their QB in to throw the ball when they are up by 45 points? Brady would not have cracked 300 yards without that last drive and TD to Welker. That was the craziest thing I had seen in my life! Otherwise, my picks were decent this week. Too bad my player picks stunk. This was your last time on my roster Burress.Congrats Steve in Minny! Looks like you will be walking away with top prize this week!

I'm in the same boat, currently in 3rd in the ALL contest, but if Favre throws for 291+ I think pretty much the entire top 10 will fall out. Hoping to hang on tonight for the $1000. I also had a roster that was in a 3 way tie for 9th/10th, but I blew the tiebreaker question and cost myself an extra $150.

good luck... Based on your team name... you REALLY need the money...

Received (and cashed) my check today from week #5 overall winner. I cant believe I won 5K and I wasn't even going to play.

This is real money. Good luck!

It's been an hour and the site has not updated......This is painful.
The ALL scoreboard now reflects Mr. Favre's overtime heroics

Just curious but what is the normal clearing time on the checks?
Do you mean the time it takes to receive your check after a win or the time it takes after you receive your check? You'll typically receive your check approximately 2 - 3 weeks after we receive your forms. Once you deposit your check in your bank account it is entirely up to your bank to determine when you'll be credited. From our end, all funds drawn on our winner's account are available immediately.

Hey, question for ya Turf

With the 4 free credit program for signing up, plus the subleague winners getting more free credits, it seems that this game is ripe for people to sign up multiple accounts. If I recall when I signed up, I didn't have to give anything other than a name/email/town. What's to prevent this kind of fraud -- IE, someone wants to win free money, so they sign up 100 accounts at different email addresses for free credits. They then play until they win a big amount of money and at that point choose the one account with the big winner to submit personal info?

Seems like, to sign up, the user should need to provide some kind of ID-verifiable info. just like creating an account at any online "casino" or sportsbook.

Yea wachovia sucks ### then. Lady tells me i have to deposit the check, they won't cash it because of previous overdrafts ( which there are none of ). I asked how long would it take, she said it would be ready by the next day. So why not, I can wait a day. Well the crap is still in as posted balance. Called the bank, was told there is an extra holding period since it is an out of state check and won't clear until the 7th. ####ed up because 2 weeks ago I was able to cash the one check without a problem. Wasn't forced to deposit it.Oh the great part, its irreversible. So I can't even say no, undo it and ill take my check and cash it elsewhere.update 2: now i have to call back the bank tomorrow and friday to see if they can get in contact with your bank to get it to clear. Looks like i am closing my wachovia account as soon as this thing clears

We decided against ID-verified registration for a couple reasons we won't get in to. Secondly, we have additional ways to identify multiple registrants and have already deleted several accounts which have registered more than one account. Lastly, in order to claim a cash prize your registration information has to match the information that you provide in your winner verification form, name/address/email address/etc. That's another reason (in addition to the regulatory ones) we require SSNs.

This is a valid point, i have created multiple accounts myself. There is nothing to prevent this, buying credits at this point is foolish.

So you aren't concerned that you might win 5K and then they deny payment when you send in your verification form and they discover that you opened 20 accounts?

If discovered, you will get an email something like this...

We see that you're signing up for multiple accounts to get the free

promotional credits - that's simply not allowed. We would quickly go

broke if people abused this offer. Therefore we're going to have to

remove the extra accounts you set up.

I'm sure you'll understand our position on this. Again, if we allowed

people to do this we simply couldn't afford to stay in business.

will the chargers Defensive TD on the missed FG attempt count?
Perhaps we need to add more clarity to the D touchdown thing. Anytime a team is lined up on the defensive side of the line and they return the ball for a TD the defense is going to get credit for the score.

Hey Turf, did the week 4 winners get sent out? I know on the week of the 8th - 12th i got that email saying the checks were cut and sent for week 3 winners and i recieved my check last thursday for week 3 but i didn't get a email last week ( 15th - 19th ) about the week 4 checks. Which judging by the schedule of week 3, i should be getting my winnings thursday but should have recieved an email last week about itJust seeing if a mail was sent out this week
I didn't get my e-mail yet either for my week 4 winnings.
Because we didn't receive your form until Monday the 15th. You'll get an email when that group of checks goes out end of this week.
Hey TW, Any word on that batch of checks? I never got an e-mail.

Just received the following from Turfwar:

We need your help!

We know that a lot of you love to play Turf War every week, but in order for us to deliver this great fantasy football game for the rest of the season we need your help right now. Our investors have told us that we need to increase the number of users and the number of rosters played each week. If we are not able to achieve these goals in short order we will be forced to suspend the game for the rest of the season. :moneybag:

Here's how you can keep Turf War rolling:

1) Use any unused credits you have from previous weeks to play this weekend. FYI - If we are forced to suspend the game all unused game credits will expire.

2) If you don't have game credits available, please purchase more credits at www.turfwar.com and play this weekend. This goes especially to the hundreds of you that have already received and cashed Turf War winner checks. Recycle some of those Turf War dollars this weekend - seriously!!

3) Take advantage of our upcoming they win/you win referral program. Starting tomorrow we'll be activating a new referral program that will reward you for inviting friends/family/colleagues/etc. I'll be emailing you tomorrow with details but basically if someone who you refer to the site (using our referral system) wins a cash prize, you will win an amount equal to a percentage of their cash prize! Cha-Ching! Again, more details coming by email tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for all your help, whatever form it takes. In fact, if you have ideas to help us spread the word please email us at info@gamedayinteractive.com with your suggestions. We know there's a lot of smart Turf War players out there and we can use your collective intelligience.

That's it for today, I'll be back in touch tomorrow. In the meantime www.turfwar.com is open for play right now!

Talk soon,

Jeff

That's not very encouraging, I've been depositing every week so I can play the full # of rosters, but if they are saying that they might suspend the game at some point and all unused game credits will be lost, that would seem to discourage people from depositing as you might lose any credits you acquire this week through winning your subleagues. Or are they talking about just losing the free credits people receive from signing up? Maybe Turf Warrior could elaborate? Also, if they suspend the game, will checks still be mailed for the winners of past weeks that haven't been sent out yet?

Suspending it doesn't make much sense.

They knew coming into it that they had already missed to boat on the season. Didn't they start in Week 3 or something like that? Just by virtue of not advertising in the hype leading up to the season, they lost a huge amount of potential customers. Plus, this lead to lots of suspicion as to the validity of the site - which STILL causes trepidation from FF players. As people find out its legit, and as popularity of the game grows, this game will certainly turn a profit. Although, from the model itself, I'd definitely cut out the whole subleague rewards and replace it with awards for people from 10th to 50th place (or whatever).

Also, why would investors pull the plug after only 6 weeks? If you have faith enough to make an investment, you should at least allow for the product to develop to give it a chance to give a return on the money. I bet a substantial amount of money went into the development of the site/software behind it - that cost was fixed and would only be recouped after a certain amount of time.

Sorry for the delay. Two things, in the event that we were to suspend the game anybody that had unused "paid" game credits would receive a refund for that amount. Secondly, we will continue to pay out winners checks to previous and current winners as usual even if we need to suspend the game at some future point.

Quite simply, our user base is not growing as quickly as we had expected primarily because most players don't want to decrease their odds of winning by referring additional players. We introduced a new referral program today that we hope will address this issue - check it out on the site. Thanks for the feedback, as always much appreciated.

Turf, here's a suggestion I think you'll like.

A few years ago, there was a not too dissimilar game to yours sponsored by BestBuy (i think 2004) and Bodog (2005). NFL players would get picked to form rosters, top scorers would win prizes. [Aside: their gimmick was that you could pick one player each week on your roster to get double points, but you could only choose a player once per year for this and once you did it you could never put that player on the roster again. This encouraged people not to use the double point players as guys like Manning and Tomlinson, since you'd never be able to use them again if you chose them to double up.]

Anyway, specifically when Bodog did the game, one of the awards was $50 in credits at their online casino which could be used for poker or at a sportsbook.

I think that you could run a similar promotion, by having a partnership with an online sportsbook, to have players win credits as some of your prizes at the sportsbook. So, for example, players who get top 10 get a cash check and players 10-100 get sportsbook credits in some amount.

The sportsbook gets HUGE advertising from something like this. And their profit isn't diminished if they require some kind of turnover of the credit before it could be cashed out. (usually 3:1)

You get more players because there are more prizes. And you could probably negotiate the deal so as to get some kickback of the new sportsbook players, increasing the profitability of the game.

Thanks a lot for the reply, but is there a distinction between "paid" game credits and those won through winning subleagues? i.e. if we deposit $125 into the site this week to purchase the 25 credits needed to play the max number of rosters, and win 10 additional credits through winning various subleagues. Do you get a refund of those 10 credits that were won using "paid" game credits or if you suspend the game next week, would those credits be forfeited? Sorry for asking so many questions, but the email didn't really make it clear which credits would be forfeited and I'm sure most people want to understand exactly what is going to happen if the game is suspended.

I could be wrong, but aren't online sportsbooks illegal in the US according to the UIGEA? Could a company based in the U.S. legally partner with them?

to my knowledge, sportsbooks are legal. things like online poker and blackjack are not.but, it's also likely that the law will be overturned shortly, since the WTO is about to levy sanctions against the US for violating Antigua's rights in the process.

Hey Guys, this is Sarah from Turf War.

If you haven't heard yet, we have implemented a new referral program. It's super easy, when you refer someone that creates a roster you not only receive a free game credit but you will also get a 20% cash bonus on the prize money that the person you referred won! For example, if someone you referred won $2,500, you would receive $500 just for referring them, and they still receive their full prize money!

Start referring people NOW! Just sign into your Turf War account and click on the "Refer & Win" button!

I really hope you guys take advantage of this!
