1st year Money Keeper / Franchise league (1 Viewer)

New keeper league with contracts starting and I'm looking for active owners who are interested in playing and helping this league survive each year. This league will be through Yahoo PLUS (so you will have free stats). It will be a 14 team league with 2 divisions. I am also a web designer in real life so our league will have a fully functional website for the managers to interact on. The league fee each year will be $200.

The breakdown will go like this...

14 teams x $200 = $2800

$125 fee for Yahoo PLUS league

$1300 playoff champion

$500 playoff runner-up

$200 3rd place finish

$300 to each of the division winners

That leaves $75 for site fees and operations.

Each team will have 24 roster spots (but only 11 starters).

Starting roster:

QB

RB

RB

WR

WR

WR

WR/RB flex

TE

K

DEF / Special Teams

DEF / Special Teams

The initial draft order will be determined randomly by yahoo and will snake. For the first year each player will be allowed to sign the following contracts:

rounds 1-6

4 year contract

4 year contract

3 year contract

2 year contract

rounds 6-18

3 year contract

3 year contract

2 year contract

2 year contract

rounds 19-24

2 year contract

2 year contract

All other players drafted will be on a 1 year contract only and will return to the player pool after the season. In the offseason managers must choose one of their players with an expiring contract to franchise (keep for another year). All other players under contract will lose one year on their contract. No extensions are allowed and no player can be franchised consecutive years. After the initial draft each manager will be allowed to contract 4 new players:

3 year contract

3 year contract

2 year contract

2 year contract

All others will once again only be on a single year contract. Managers can assign their contracts after the draft has taken place; just keep in mind as you are drafting which players you might want under certain contracts. Also, managers can release players under contract at any time if they choose; however, the time remaining on that players contract is non-transferable...meaning you lose it.

If you need further information or explanation on any of this then please PM me and I will be happy to break it down further. I will have everything laid out a lot better on our offical website.

Managers are allowed the make trades with players during the regular season. In the offseason, once the draft order for next season has been determined, trades may involve players, draft picks, or contracts. For instance, a manager can trade Tom Brady and a 3 year contract for Philip Rivers, a 1st round draft pick, and a 2 year contract. Of course all trades are subject to league approval. Disapproval from 1/3 of the league will veto any trade in-season. Off-season trade vetos requires a majority of the managers (so at least 8 of 14).

Speaking of drafts, the initial draft will snake and the order will be determined randomly by yahoo; however, every year after the first, the order will be based on the standings of the previous year. The draft will not snake after the initial draft. The standings will remove any chance of teams tanking at the end for draft picks because the draft order will be based on this:

1st thru 8th picks: 7th place team to last place team.

9th thru 14th picks: 6th place team to league champion.

So even the teams that dont make the playoffs are still playing for draft position and cant afford to tank any games. The team that finishes in last place DOES NOT get the #1 pick; instead they get the 8th.

The last thing I request is that each manager follow this structure for a team name:

CITY NAME

For instance my name is Dallas Desperados. (the city does NOT have to be the city you live in...just pick one)

Also, I would prefer if each manager used their own custom image / logo and did not rely on yahoo's lame helmets or avatars. I think when managers take the time to personalize their team.

Here are the league settings: Once the league is full I will consult with everyone to see what works best for them. I am not stuck on these settings. If a majority of the league votes to change something then I will change it. This league is not mine....it is ours. Also, I will set a draft day and time that works best for everyone. Since we will have Yahoo PLUS we can set our draft to whenever we want.

I've been getting a few questions on the contracts so let me break it down more...say this is who I drafted...

1. Marion Barber RB

2. Frank Gore RB

3. T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR

4. Michael Turner RB

5. Donovan McNabb QB

6. Jason Witten TE

7. Dwayne Bowe WR

8. Jon Kitna QB

9. Donald Driver WR

10. Jason Campbell QB

11. Bobby Engram WR

12. Dallas DST

13. Lee Evans WR

14. Ahman Green RB

15. Santana Moss WR

16. Benjamin Watson TE

17. Tennessee DST

18. Donald Lee TE

19. D.J. Hackett WR

20. Josh Brown K

21. Isaac Bruce WR

22. Jerious Norwood RB

23. Shaun Suisham K

24. Leon Washington RB

Then after the draft I break it down like this...

Rounds 1-6

1. Marion Barber RB

2. Frank Gore RB

3. T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR

4. Michael Turner RB

5. Donovan McNabb QB

6. Jason Witten TE

(I have two 4 year contracts, one 3 year, and one two year)

So I assign my contracts like this...

1. Marion Barber RB (4 year contract)

2. Frank Gore RB (4 year contract)

3. T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR (3 year contract)

4. Michael Turner RB

5. Donovan McNabb QB

6. Jason Witten TE (2 year contract)

That leaves Turner and McNabb on 1 year contracts

Then I go to the next group...

Rounds 7-18

7. Dwayne Bowe WR

8. Jon Kitna QB

9. Donald Driver WR

10. Jason Campbell QB

11. Bobby Engram WR

12. Dallas DST

13. Lee Evans WR

14. Ahman Green RB

15. Santana Moss WR

16. Benjamin Watson TE

17. Tennessee DST

18. Donald Lee TE

(I have two 3 year contracts, and two 2 year contracts)

So I assign my contracts like this...

7. Dwayne Bowe WR (3 year contract)

8. Jon Kitna QB

9. Donald Driver WR

10. Jason Campbell QB (2 year contract)

11. Bobby Engram WR

12. Dallas DST (3 year contract)

13. Lee Evans WR (2 year contract)

14. Ahman Green RB

15. Santana Moss WR

16. Benjamin Watson TE

17. Tennessee DST

18. Donald Lee TE

That leaves everyone else on 1 year contracts

The lastly I go to my 19-24 picks and assign my two 2 year contracts

19. D.J. Hackett WR (2 year contract)

20. Josh Brown K

21. Isaac Bruce WR

22. Jerious Norwood RB (2 year contract)

23. Shaun Suisham K

24. Leon Washington RB

So my roster looks like this...

My contract players (keepers)

Marion Barber RB (4 year contract)

Frank Gore RB (4 year contract)

T.J. Houshmandzadeh WR (3 year contract)

Dwayne Bowe WR (3 year contract)

Dallas DST (3 year contract)

Jason Witten TE (2 year contract)

Jason Campbell QB (2 year contract)

Lee Evans WR (2 year contract)

D.J. Hackett WR (2 year contract)

Jerious Norwood RB (2 year contract)

My one year contract players who will be released at the end of the season:

Michael Turner RB

Donovan McNabb QB

Jon Kitna QB

Donald Driver WR

Bobby Engram WR

Ahman Green RB

Santana Moss WR

Benjamin Watson TE

Tennessee DST

Donald Lee TE

Josh Brown K

Isaac Bruce WR

Shaun Suisham K

Leon Washington RB

Now at the end of the season all of my "contract" players will have one year deducted from their contracts since they played one season. I also have the "franchise tag" that I can use on my players with expiring contracts and who will be released. So let's say McNabb had a great 08 season and I wanted to keep him another year without the risk of losing him in the draft. I use the franchise tag to keep McNabb for one additional year. Everyone else goes back to the player pool for next season's draft. That draft will consists of the released players from all teams, free agents, and new rookies.

Season two draft will be 13 rounds and each manager will get to assign 4 new contracts (two 3 year contracts and two 2 year contracts). Each manager will only be awarded 4 new contracts every year after the initial draft. Managers can choose to use these contracts or trade them away.

I hope this helps. The league should be fun if we can get the right managers on board.

Here are our current teams:

Chicago Goodfellas

Dallas Desperados

Gilbert Arenas

Las Vegas FlaminAces

Miami Mercenaries

Montreal Machine

Toronto Aboots

....looking for 7 more!
