TV Deals Thread (1 Viewer)

Target has a 40inch Westinghouse LCD 1080p for 279.00.

Just bought this one for the bedroom, $302.02 w/tax.

Looking for a bigger one for the livingroom now.

What is Target's return policy? Take the Westinghouse back ASAP if possible.

I agree 100%.
Why??
Westinghouse TV's are usually the bare basic TV. You don't get a lot out of them. This particular one is priced right, though. It would be OK for a bedroom or kid TV but not much else. Most reputable reviews have poor sound ratings and average picture quality. Can't really expect much for a $300 40" though. Get some external speakers.

Thanks for the reply.

We're on ~year 6 out of a cheapo 1080p Westinghouse 37 LCD in our bedroom. I'm not endorsing them blindly, but the price is right and the one we got has been good. We do have sound running through a receiver and speakers there, so the sound may be a legit complaint -- can't really speak to that.

Why don't more tvs come with more than 2 HDMI inputs?

I want to feed my Apple TV, PS3 and DirecTV but with only 2 inputs on many tvs always have to leave one unplugged and get up and switch it in.

Thanks ACP, I will set the tv up tomorrow and post back.

I had AT&T Universe installed this morning and the WH looks a sounds great. I've read some of the online reviews and the negative review were in 2010 and the positive one are in 2012. With that being said it seems that WH's newer models don't have the same issues as the older ones. I love the look and the sound is not a problem with this WH tv. I have the HD package and all the channels look great...............time to find that 40+ tv, may go back up to Fry's and get that plasma I saw on Friday.:twocents:tex

60" Vizio LED 120Hz Smart TV for $998

Going to Wal Mart to buy this if they have it. If not, probably will order via Amazon for $1 more. Gets pretty good reviews for the price.
Couldn't find it at any Walmarts, but Sam's Club had one left. Just set it up and love it. Bye bye 37".
My local Costco just got a shipment of these, and are pricing them cash-and-carry for $979. Since it's a room with a lot of natural light that will not go into "home theater" mode, and I'm not patient enough to see who else will drop under $1K, I'm going to go with this one. Will Amazon (who had it at $999 w/free shipping last I checked) match the C&C price, or will they consider their price comparable to Costco's website, which is charging $100 for shipping?
Same price at Sam's Club, only had one left and one had been paid for and was in the holding area. Not sure if they price match a club store.

Sorry to leave you hanging. Ive never owned a WH myself, but from working part time at best buy I've just gotten a bad impression of them (most often returned, sales guys tell me to avoid). Ultimately what I've learned about TVs is that you get what you pay for, there is enough competition in this market that there's not much room for margin save for the latest features (smart, 3D). I do hope the WH works out for you!

Hey TT, thanks for the input. I hear ya on the "get what you pay for" and you're probably right. I needed to get one for the bedroom and this will do for now. I haven't noticed any flaws yet, but it is only day one.Anyway, thanks again for coming back to the thread to post.tex

My concern was life span in general, then ACP mentioned he got 6 years from his WH which is 2 more than I from my Samsung which I'm now looking to replace, so who knows (I did use the heck out of my Samsung though).

Any Black Friday predictions? Traditionally worth waiting for?
The week leading up to BF will likley hold some great deals for those who don't want to jump in the madness/wait in line. I will update daily that week. Should be some good internet deals then as well.

Expect some desperate moves from BestBuy this holiday season, including a full on price match of all online retailers (previously was just Amazon). They're not advertising this, would rather the customer not know about it and the sales guys use it as a last ditch effort to save a sale. They're on to the fact that more and more customers are using them as a showroom and are trying to change that. This online price matching does not apply to Thanksgiving week though. For reference Best Buy carries in store: Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Sharp, some smaller Toshibas, and Westinghouse. Also Dynex (BB's in store low end brand) and Insignia (their in store mid-tier value brand).

Quick question. What's better to have? A 1080p LCD with a 60 Hz refresh or a 720p plasma with a 600 Hz refresh? Looking for something between 42"-50". The room doesn't get much sun and will be sitting roughly seven feet away. Thanks
This answer is Plasma...everytime

Somewhat off topic but a question about a pre-black Friday deal my local H.H. Gregg is running..

I'm looking at a 60" Samsung Plasma Smart 3D TV model PN60E550. It's priced just under $1,300 and if I take advantage of the pre-black Friday sale, I'll receive an additional 11% off, which basically voids the tax, plus a $100 in store credit. Is this a good deal for this Samsung? I'm sure I could wait for a better deal but there is also the chance the deal will be gone before I can purchase.

Not a bad deal. Slightly better: it's $1298 on Amazon currently + you get a free 3D Wifi Blu-Ray player + 2% Amazon Rewards. Better deal if you need a Blu-ray as well. Regift option is free too ;) .
