oukurt 77
How many times this season have we heard this may be the best episode of the entire run? I'm not seeing it. Don't get me wrong still a terrific season but a notch below any of the other seasons IMO.I agree. It's been a solid season, still better than anything else on TV right now, but it's definitely not the best season of the show's run yet. It might be with the second 8 episodes but I think that should be considered the 6th season. It's one thing to take a month or two off but to come back a year later and consider it part of the previous season is stupid, imo. This season has been a bit all over the place. Previous ones had a clear focus moving forward. Probably intentional this season to show how everything is falling apart but it takes away from the show for me. VamonosI wishI was curious to find out what movie Mike was watching during the DEA search and found this:the film Mike is watching is "The Big Heat," 1953 Fritz Lang film about a cop who takes on a crime syndicate in his city after his wife is murdered. The scene involved the follow-up to an officer's apparent death by suicide--but the investigator is subsequently contacted by the dead officer's wife, who explains it was not a suicide. Hank mimics suicide with an imaginary gun to the head in exasperation with Walter's crying scene in his officeInteresting.Looking back at the corner camera in Hank's office, it doesn't look like a surveillance camera since there was movement like they tend to use on regular camera shots. I'd imagine if Gilligan was trying to imply it was a surveillance camera, it would have been a locked shot.Great acting by Mike in the park knowing it's probably the last time he'd see his granddaughter."How could Mike use that clown of a lawyer" Especially right after showing the blowup Statue of Liberty on his roof.Keep in mind when I called it my favorite episode yet, I was enjoying the show with a percocet and xanax. I was dialed in. Maybe dialed in a bit too much. . There wasn't a wasted scene in this 44 mintues though. I was on the edge of my seat. Loved the Monkeys music in the cook montage and Walt's Muhammad Ali style to open the show. Standing by my call of maybe best episode yet. My top 5 1. Salud 2. Say My Name 3. Half Measures 4. Full Measures 5. Face Off Honorable mention: Crawl Space

BustedKnuckles 2,763
Have not read through the posts about last night's episode yet. Looking forward to that. I thought that was easily the best episode during the show's entire run. It was also the first time I disliked Walt. I guess Gilligan is going to try and force us to dislike him the rest of the series. I don't want to though. To be fair, Gilligan's made no secret of the fact that WW doesn't have so much of a character "arc" as a downward ramp.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NuN-70bICR4&feature=relatedBreaking Bad - The Transformation of Walter White - Tribute Video [HD]

Or sells the "steps/ingredients" to a competitor?mentioned that early....that he may not be as dumb as we think he isI don't think he's dumb. I think he is ambitious and willing to take orders and learn.I'm glad I'm not the only one. I think they're trying to make him look like not a bright guy (shooting kid, not handling the chemistry well/looking like a remedial student to Walt). It could be all a plan to infiltrate Heisenberg. Who knows.... He seemed really eager to stand out when everyone on that crew was told not to talk.

I thought he killed Mike out of rage for what he said to Walt and how he treated him, not because he wouldn't give up the names. You are right. I lost power Sunday night, did not catch this until late last night. I definitely believe Mike said what was on all of our minds the entire time and Walt kills him...essentially if you kill Mike, you kill a lot of the audience in a roundabout way. not saying the audience turns the tube off, not at all, but it really makes Walt the antagonist and takes him from a guy we were sort of rooting for and could rationalize a lot of his behavior early on but now I just keep waiting for Hank to discover it all, of course that may never happen but I keep hoping. Good Posting Judge 13,668
I seriously can't imagine someone getting into this show and thinking that the main character is going to be some sort of moral paradigm. He sells meth, which ruins people's lives. You know this going in. Tony Soprano was a mobster, who also ostensibly ruined people's lives. Both characters, despite some redeeming or human qualities, are engaged in immoral acts. People are strange with television. The whole disdain for Skylar is the other side of this coin that I just don't understand. I find both Skylar and Walt's characters fascinating, but I don't "like" Walt.
