Breaking Bad on AMC (6 Viewers)

Yep, the show is the best ever.  Magnificent in every way imaginable.

Back to the film, I thought the scene with Cranston was pretty underwhelming.  The dynamic between Jesse and Walt seemed off, like they wrote the characters differently than they did during that time period in the original run (had to be somewhere in the Season 2, or end of Season 1, timeline since Walt had just a mustache).  Their interaction and the way they were talking to each other just seemed...odd.
Assume this was right after the long cook and battery issues where they had said prior to the battery being dead that they were going to spend a night in a hotel, shower, and have a real meal etc.

Hank had Jesse's car bugged with a GPS.

When Walt was missing during his fugee state he figured he would try looking for Jesse who recently started "dealing" weed to Walt. The GPS led Hank to Jesse's car. Where jesse and walt had been kidnapped by Tuco, who went to his uncles house with plans to go down to Mexico and cook meth with Walt.

It's a pretty fun show. You should try paying attention some time ;)
No. Jesse had a low jack and Hank was able to access it.

Tuco was killed in that scene

Then when Walt got back to civilization and he made up the fugue state to explain his disappearance.

I think I have my time line correct
Yep. So he put an illegal GPS track tracker on some kid maybe selling a little bit of weed?

Nevermind, I see it was lojack

Agree on the consensus of the movie.

Basically just wrapped up Jesse's storyline, which was basically all that was left open of note.

Also agree on Saul. Not that the movie needed it but just seems like they missed a chance to give Saul a plug for his show by having him in a scene.

Hopefully they used this movie as a distraction to film some Saul scenes with Walt and Jesse.

Right, they found a way to bring back the ghost of his ex-gf but not Saul!

I thought the most interesting flashbacks were the scenes with Todd
The wife and I thought the scenes in his apartment with the dead housekeeper and the one where Jesse dumped her body from the 2nd floor were both comical and interesting all at the same time. Todd was so ho hum about the whole thing like it was just everyday life.

Yea, that's been Todd all along.  Just cold.

Also was distracted by fat todd. He reminded me of the fat kid from the 80s mini series It

So many awesome anachronisms for a show that's so recent.

Jesse calls walter at his home phone and the answering machine picks up so he pretends to be an At&t telemarketer leaving a message trying to get him to switch home phone services, then skylar *69s him, gets his answering machine which has his voice telling her to leave a message and she doesn't but he can hear her because the answering machine plays over the speaker so she looks up the number on the world wide web and goes right to his captain cook website and reads about his interests before asking aloud "MILFs... what the hell is a MILF?". Which was edgy and funny then but today for a kid Jesse's age MILFs aren't cool slang for hot women anymore they're a porn category with old ladies.

heh, "Man Mountain" from the BCS Mike/Trevor scene was the hookers' bodyguard.

I liked it. I felt it was good fan service, without being cheesy about it. And I'm happy Jesse got a proper ending, and it's the one everyone hoped he got. New life, new place, and some $$.

But yes, could have used more Badger and Skinny Pete, and agree bloaty Todd was odd looking.

But he was a low life junkie.  It wasn't like his life was going to be picture perfect if he'd never met WW.
I don’t think he would have gotten involved in murder.  Although, the first people they had to kill was result of Jessie’s #### up.

Total fan service.  Although, I could watch breaking bad paint dry, and this was a couple of steps up from that.

best part: it looked stunning in HDR.

Yep, I think that is correct.  And Walt was wearing the same shirt in the scene in the new film that he was in the 4 Days Out episode when Jesse dropped him off at the airport (at the end of the episode)...I just looked.

I thought that, too, about Mountain Man, but forgot to look it up after it was over to confirm it was the same actor.

And while the film did give Jesse a proper ending, so to speak, it is still hard to imagine him making a good life for himself up in Alaska. The money he has will only last so long, and he doesn't seem like a guy who can build himself up from nothing in a new city with no friends and no skills aside from being good at cooking meth.

No mention of Walts fake bald head that made him look like a Megamind wax statue?  So distracting especially with the centerpiece character of the show.  Wait til he can really shave his head.

Odd that Vince Gilligan doesnt seem to have an appetite to do something different.  Guy could get backing for whatever he wants.

Why couldnt jesse just kill todd and call police to protect brock?

Why didnt welder dude just knock jesse out in front of fridge?

Maybe im just picking nits but these scenes were the whole movie and they just seemed dopey.

I think jesse was emotionally broken and didnt want to risk causing Brocks death. Many people who are kidnapped fear running when they have opportunities.

Fridge dude I thought Jesse explained and sold him. If he causes any ruckus where nosey neighbor dude suspects anything, they're gonna have to kill him. It gets too dirty that way. It was safer to just do the split.

On further reflection, I think the "Todd" sequence was actually very good.  They do a nice job in that one of escalating tension as things progress, in a way that completely fits Todd's character.  The rest of the film is forgettable, but it's worth watching for that part IMO.

I enjoyed it but mostly for the fan service.

As a huge fan of Better Call Saul and all the "in the future" nuggets they throw into that show in the flash forwards, I was hoping this would tie to it but not to be.

One of the newscasts in a flashback mentioned that the wife of Walter White was found dead in a gang shootout.  Not sure if they said wife or family...
I missed this.

Although, I am not sure I understand your time line.  In all of the flash backs they showed, Skyler was alive, by definition, since every flash back was well before Walt sees Skyler the day he kills everyone and sets Jesse free.

Which flash back scene are you referring to?

I liked it. I'd never heard the term "fan service" til the El Camino portion of this thread and its existence is kind of a sign of what's wrong w popular culture these days, but it's appropriate here. One thing the modern age of TV has recognized is that the best thing the medium does is offer the opportunity to the viewer to make friends with unusual individuals while theyre watching the worlds which have been created for their entertainment. One of the best things about the BrBaverse is that it has offered me regular chances to reach out to these flawed folk and say "NO.........#### no" when they overbake their egos or roles or fear, cuz i love em and care about em and suffer their well-beings as a "friend". El Camino served my lingering hopes & fears for Jesse Pinkman and i'm thankful for that.

Fridge dude felt sympathy for Jesse for being held captive.

Nothing said his wife died. The report was confirming that Walt died in the shootout.

I am pretty sure he misunderstood. The report I heard said Walter White not Skylar was found dead.

Was a bit underwhelmed but still enjoyable as a BB fan.  Would love to see a Gus movie documenting his rise to power.  Better story IMO.
