They put the first season of Raising Hope on there.

When this show came out last year I dismissed this show as just another cookie cutter sitcom about a blue collar family, and I assume many of my fellow yuppie dooshbags did the same. The wife and I gave it a try when we saw it on Netflix, and it's really an outstanding show. Hilarious, with just the right amount of schmaltz. Plus you get the consistent intrigue of trying to figure out if Martha Plimpton is attractive or not. Top five sitcom on TV right now I think.

I 2nd "Raising Hope," pretty dang funny. Kind of an updated version of Roseanne (that's a good thing) with the white trash angle ratcheted up without the silliness or over the top schtick that "My Name is Earl" had either.

I tried to get the wife to watch 9 Songs with me based on your recommendation. About fifteen minutes in, she said, "This sucks. We have better porn than this. Let's watch that instead if we're going to be watching porn anyway."

I consider that to be a huge win.

Just announced "Multi-Year Output Deal With Netflix for CW Network Programming."

Previous seasons of "The Vampire Diaries," "Gossip Girl," "One Tree Hill" and "Nikita" will be available to watch instantly on October 15, with previous seasons of "Supernatural" and "90210" beginning in January 2012. Episodes of all scripted series airing on The CW this broadcast season will premiere for Netflix members in Fall 2012. In addition, all episodes of future scripted series appearing on The CW through the 2014-15 season will be available to stream from Netflix through a commensurate window.
Not much to appeal to football fans, but Supernatural is actually really, really good and I would recommend it in a heartbeat. There's a thread devoted to it buried somewhere on the messageboard. My girlfriend got me addicted to Vampire Diaries. :bag: It's not nearly as "Twillight"-esque as you would think it is. :scared:

Yeah, I started watching it from the start, liked it but it didnt become 1 of those shows I made sure I didnt miss. Started watching it again this year and not only do I think it has gotten better, but I make sure I watch before I delete off the DVR. Definitely one of those shows that doesnt get the credit/publicity it deserves.Id do Martha Plimpton, and Shannon Woodward

Well, Shannon Woodward ... come on. She kills me. She falls right into that Alison Brie/Mila Kunis adorable petite brunette category that I always seem to go for.Martha Plimpton throws me though. I can never quite settle on my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'd do her in a heartbeat were I single, but I was a whore. I can't decide if she's "hot," i.e. could she ever play a role that was supposed to have sex appeal. I think probably not, but she seems to have an incredible body.Anyway, I'm trying to get the word out on this show now. I'm only halfway through the first season and I'm already enjoying it a lot, glad to hear you think it's only gotten better

I am having a hard time dividing my time up between the newly released 7th season of the Office and the 3rd Season of Parks & Rec.

I keep telling myself that Parks & Rec is the better series, but I can't stop myself from consuming the Office like crack.

Season 7 is on instant now?? Why wasn't I informed!?!

Sorry GB, its been on there about 3 weeks or so I would guess. I'm about 3/4 the way through.

The Bicycle Thief expires November 1. If you haven't seen it now's a good chance. It's simple and profound, and well deserving of it's classic status.

Bottom feeding entertainment, but I ran through Storage Wars in about three days. Kind of like Pawn Stars with more characters.

Kevin Smith's "Red State" is streaming right now.

Also went back and rewatched "Word Wars" last night (couldn't watch Red State with the kids in the room). This is still one of my favorite docs out there. 90 mins of total :nerd: fest.

Stir Crazy

Revisited. Still awesome. The whole prison rodeo is still kind of bizarre, but this is the funniest you will find Pryor outside of stand up.

5/5

 Going with hottish on Plimpton. Halfway through season 1. Nice recommendation.

Why only the first two seasons of Sons of Anarchy? Ugh, I hate that!!!
Loved seasons 1 and 2 and then lost interest during season 3 with the whole baby kidnapping thing. Does the show pick up steam again at some point? Season 4 recorded on DVR. Any good?
I don't see much difference between any of the 4 seasons. What you see is what you get. It's a soap opera type show where they like to stretch the bounds of realism. It's a fun but sorta goofy ride.

Season 3 doesn't pay off until the last episode, if that helps.

The Walking Dead was added today. I missed most of season 1, so looking forward to this.
Thanks for the heads up. Watched season one, ready for two
Agreed...started watching after the recommendation and through 3 episodes. Great show...
It only gets better (although the pilot might be my favorite)
I was going to say it only gets worse. I found--and find after watching SEason 2.1--this a very disappointing show.

Its my guilty pleasure. TBS (or TNT?) is playing re-runs of it in the mornings, and between that and websites (i think its watchsupernaturalonline.com) I've actually seen almost every episode now :nerd:

I love these shows. Great time wasters between changing subjects of study or when I've got half an hour and too much boredom + I'm tired but not sleepy. I wish they would put Auction Hunters on there too.

I don't know who recommended it first, its been mentioned a lot, but Sherlock is outstanding. And this is coming from someone who has only read a few of the original stories. Season 2 looks like it will be awesome, each of the 3 stories they're basing the episodes on seem to be considered some of Doyle's finest work.

 big fan of this show.

OK Halloween weekend is upon us. What are some good horror movies I can stream? I little about horror movies as this is about the only time of the year I have any desire to watch them.

This is a good list but I would try to watch "Let the Right One In" which is the original version of "Let me In"...I tired to watch the latter last night and it wasn't as good IMO as the original. Not bad although already knowing the story might have had something to do with it. Both are well worth watching.

I'll add House on Hunted Hill and Theatre of Blood both with Vincent Price, a bit campy but a good throwback.

Creepshow, Return of the Living Dead, The Evil Dead-Sam Raimi, Thirst-foreign,

The House of the Devil for those that have not seen it yet. Nice tribute to 70s and 80s horror films. It takes place in like 1980-1982, somewhere in there just like "Let Me In" does as well. They do this so you don't have easy outs like cell phones and internet communications. Adds to the suspense.

I've seen both. I feel the original Swedish version, Let the Right One In, is far superior. The recent American version is essentially a shot-for-shot remake with minor twists. Let Me In isn't bad but it didn't measure up for me.

Glad you liked. I'm trying to spread the word. This show deserves more love.

I probably won't bother then. I've seen the original. It doesn't sound like there is a compelling reason to spend any of my limited movie-watching time on the remake.

Got a Crosstown Rollerblade Critical Mass and Wine Tasting this weekend?

This probably has already been recommended but Ong Bak 2 is awesome. If anyone liked Ip man, you will love this movie.

I'm really digging Intelligence

Smartly plotted and smoothly acted, this cops-and-criminals drama is set in Vancouver, where Mary Spalding (Klea Scott) is the regional director of the government's Organized Crime Unit, and cocky Jimmy Spalding (Ian Tracey) heads a successful pot-smuggling ring. When unforeseen events result in unexpected circumstances, the two supposed enemies become unlikely bedfellows to save their distinct but closely linked franchises.

Just a bit OT, anyone have recommendations for Concerts, Rockumentaries and the like. With the weather changing, I've moved most workouts indoors and have found that these help. Watched Kiss, Rock The Nation (DVD 1) while on the spin bike last night and will use DVD for another ride soon. I'm hoping Flight 666 with Iron Maiden makes its way to Watch Instantly!

One advantage of setting a show in Vancouver is they don't need to make the shooting locations look like some other city

:lmao: I once did four movies-of-the-week back to back in Vancouver, same crew, same sets... the locations they were playing were Montana, Wyoming, North Carolina, and Baltimore.

Red State

Settled in last night for my first horror film of the season, or so I thought. I hadn't seen a trailer or read much, if anything about this film, except that it was Kevin Smith's attempt at horror. What I got was unexpected, and satisfying. What we have here is a rare attempt of a genre buster. Films like From Dusk Till Dawn and Devil's Rejects immediately come to mind. This film starts as a Hostel type horror film and turns into a botched ATF Waco-style raid. It is unpredictable and fun. It isn't overly gorey, but there are of course a couple of fairly extreme scenes. Michael Parks is awesome in it. Smith's direction has come a long ways since the static shots of Clerks. I know the people that have commented on it say it was hack stuff here too, but I have to disagree, easily the best directed film shot-wise Smith has done.

Ok, now the bad, the storyline is very choppy, and the ending is stupid, tacked on, and awful in just about every other way imaginable.

If you are a fan of film and horror I think there is enjoyment to be found here. If you are just a fan of one or the other you may be disappointed in a big way.

3.5/5

2011 Indian film Delhi Belly IMDB is pretty entertaining buddy comedy. You've seen the basic plot mechanics a hundred times--a bag gets switched putting the good guys on a collision course with a collection of bad guys--but the modern New Delhi setting and an appealing cast of characters set it apart.

Delhi Belly came out of the Bollywood system but it's mostly in English, doesn't run too long (103 min) and drops the F-bomb more freely than most Western comedies. There's music but it's integrated into the story well and never interrupts the flow. It was a big hit and very controversial when it was released in India. It also has a couple of the more inspired poop gags I've seen in a while, so it's not some highbrow foreign film.

Fubar 2: Balls to the Wall. A low budget, mockumentary style Canadian drunken misfits epic. They're like Bob and Doug McKenzie on crack. I haven't sen Fubar 1, but it apparently achieved cult classic status in Canada. Dumb, stupid and moronic with about 250 F-Bombs. I randomly came across it on cable and I laughed my ### off at how utterly pathetic these guys are plus the accent added extra laughs. I have no idea if it's even exaggerated at all. I've downloaded part 1, but I don't think that you need to see it first.
