Carriers...pretty good movie, kind of post-apocalyptic about some disease thats spread across the country and people try to stray from becoming infected. A cool thing about it is it has a zombie movie vibe to it, but doesnt have zombies, negative is that they dont exactly explain everything. Starts off kind of slow, but the dialogue is solid throughout and running at about 80 minutes definitely helps it out. If it was 2 hours it wouldve been less enjoyable IMO.
Just watched it. Man the scene at the High school where the doctor was going to give the punch to the kids, gut wrenching. Overall pretty good, though the ending was just there

Portlandia is hit or miss for me but has some really funny moments. I've never been to Portland, but it reminds me of Austin. The cameos by musicians are an added bonus.

For anyone who doesn't already know, Carrie is a very talented musician herself. Singer/guitarist for

 And yes, those are highlights. YMMV. If it's not your type of humor, definitely steer clear of this series.

Holy #### this movie was terrible. Man, what a waste of two hours.

Really?? Ive seen worse than Carriers in the last week. It certainly wasnt terrible.Mojo - I dont recall that specific scene you mention.

Five Fingers...Papa G's last review reminded me of this psychological thriller I saw a couple months ago about a businessman who gets kidnapped by a terrorist organization and questioned/tortured as the viewer tries to figure out who is telling the truth. Pretty much non-stop tension from the get go and keeps everything tight with a running time under 90 minutes. Ryan Phillippe and Larry Fishburne were both very good. Great dialogue. I would put this in the category of movies I love that take place in essentially 1 location for the entire film but remain entertaining thanks to the dialogue. Loved the ending, I'll leave it at that...4/5
Posted this in the movie thread today, but noticed its on instant watch. Definitely recommend.

Just watched "Kill the Irishman".Best gangster/mafia movie Ive seen in a long, long time. Loved it.

I'm not sure I agree with all that. It is pretty deeply flawed but it is a fun film that I would watch again. Probably a guilty pleasure more than anything.
The acting was so terrible in this movie, I can't recommend it. Vexing, considering how much I like some of these actors. Blame the director, I suppose.

In the interest of total disclosure I was pretty drunk when I watched it.

Right on all accounts. There are flaws but a solid 4 out 5 stars. Not an epic classic, but good enough to enjoy. At this point, Ill watch anything not named Goodfellas, Heat, Casino or the Godfather.

Vertigo and a couple other Hitchcock films are set to expire on Feb 29th.

Also noticed that both Pyscho II and III are playing but set to expire Feb 29th as well. They aren't very good but I watched some of the better sequences the other night on my Mac. In fact it is pretty unbelievable that they would let Perkins actually go back to the Bates Motel and run the thing...it seems even more outrageous 30 years later.

Watched "Big" with my 11 year old son and 8 year old daughter last night. They enjoyed it. I did, as well. Been a while since I saw it last. I LOVED elisabeth perkins. Still think she is hot in that movie.

One question that is nagging: So Tom Hanks and Perkins do it in the movie, right? He spent the night at her house on multiple occassions. Starting with the scene at her house where he kept the lights turned on so he could touch her boobies. Plus, the movie did a good job of presenting the fact that she was a raging hooor before he came on the scene.

The only thing that *barely* touched on this was when he finally told her that he was a (just turned) 13 year old boy, and she's like "oh, that makes sense now," or something like that.

So. (1) Did they do it? (2) would that be statutory rape?

Fun movie. Now, it's been a long time since I've seen it, but wouldn't his personality be far too immature to even want sex?

Like I said, it's been a long time. But I remember him being very naive.

1) IIRC, yes. Least that was my impression. 2) Strict liability so yes.

Watching Season 2 (well not on Netflix) but very good show.Really enjoy it

Downton. Mother####ing. Abbey.
How is?
Recommended.
What is it about? My mom watches this.
What he said.
Absolutely solid show. I only watched the first season, but it is solid. When my wife first tried to get me to watch, she had to drag me kicking and screaming ("Hey, honey, let's watch a WWI-era movie about a languishing aristocratic manse in the English countryside, and the relationship between the servants and the landholders!!"). But as god is my witness, I enjoyed it.

by the way, has anybody mentioend "Zen" yet? I don't think it is streaming, but Holy Schikies that was an awesome miniseries. BBC is just KILLING it right now.

The DVD is in the mail today

Why does Netflix offer old TV series that are incomplete?? Kind of frustrated that I just started watching the old Star Trek Deep Space Nine, and am into Season 4 only to find out that virtually all of seasons 5 onward are incomplete. What the hell?

Downton is fantasitc.

Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret is awesome as well.

The "Helvetica" documentary is very interesting if you are interested in design.

"Senna", if you have even the slightest interest in racing you have to see this documentry.
Even if you don't know anything about Senna, the film does an excellent job of introducing Senna and what made him special.
Agree! Really good flick. Highly recommend
Forgot to mention this one. I loved it. What a tragic story. Racing is ####### crazy.
Just watched this and agree with above.
