Julio trade netted #Browns Phil Taylor, Brandon Weeden, Greg Little, Owen Marecic and pick dealt to move up for Trent Richardson. Welp.
Taylor has 7 sacks over 3 years, 40 tackles last 2 years.

Everyone else is gone.

Richardson did net Manziel, so there's that.
Oh missed that part.

WRONG!

Richardson did not net Manziel.

Richardson pick was the Browns own 2012 selection not the Atlanta #22 selection.

We used the Atlanta selection, pick #22 on QB Brandon Weeden.

Richardson pick #4 was our pick. We blew four other piocks to move-up one-slot to #3 to land Richardson. So that dumb draft pick is even worse than originally thought.

The Manziel pick in effect cost us the #4 pick in the 2012 draft + the four draft picks it cost us to move-up from #4 to #3 + this year's 2014 3rd round pick that we got from Pittsburgh from last year's 2013 trade where Pittsburgh drafted SS Shamarko Thomas. So Johnny pick isn't a cheap #22 1st round pick. Its this year's #26 pick this year's 3rd round pick, plus the Trent Richardson pick #3 which cost us four mide/late round picks. Grand total is about six picks to land Manziel.

The Atlanta/Julio Jones trade was even worse than people imagine.

Did we financially benefit by releasing Little now? I know majority of you could care less and are glad to see him go, but I would have kept him around if the Browns gained nothing other than having one less WR on the roster in May.
he takes training camp reps away from udfas that might not suck. Now he doesn't.

Farmer trades down for a future 1st, but stays in the top 8.

Farmer>>>>>>>>>holmgrum and his idiot hires

Big picture.
What is your ####### big picture??? Teddy at 4???? Lol
would it make more sense to you if I drew a picture
Yes, cause you aren't making any sense.
If the franchise qb picked at 22 is a failure he would also be a failure at 4. As would the whole regime.

You not getting that is hilarious.

And sad.

If you don't like it stop ##### footing around and root for losses.

The leaders of the team you root for are failures in your kind. You rooting for them defines insanity.
Your logic makes no sense, I guess what you are saying makes sense to you. What don't you get about we got Manziel and we got a better player at eventually 8 than we would have been able to get at 22 if we had taken Manziel at 4?

Are you telling me Gilbert would have been there at 22? I seriously doubt it.

And no one ever misses on taking a QB high in the draft.

Ponder, Locker, Gabbert oh look ponder is not good but Minnesota still made the playoffs with him.

Yeah no team can be good with a mediocre QB, which by the way has not been proved about Manziel yet.

Oh wait look at who some teams have won the Superbowl with at QB.

What you are saying doesn't make sense and I'm not the only one telling you that.
I don't know how many other ways I can write if we pick him at four then the regime fails and the same holds true for 22. If you think he blows then this whole thing will get blown up again in three years. The Gilbert pick is then rendered borderline meaningless as his contract expires and new guys come in with no ties to him.

Weeden got just over a year. why would Manziel get three years if he sucks?

Weeden would have gotten more rope had here not been the ownership changefollowed quickly by a regime change. Either way if he fails the regime usually fails too.

let me re-phrase that.

if Manziel sucks, hopefully Farmer moves on from him quickly.

in that scenario, having used a high pick on Gilbert continues to help the team.

historically speaking I doubt that will happen. How many times has a regime moved on from a first round qb and had enough time to keep their job and be successful?

you're probably correct, it's probably pretty rare. i'd still like to have the additional high pick, all else being equal.

Weeden being drafted at 28 and Manziel at 21 is also a huge factor. You give Weeden 3 years to "get it" and it's about time to start looking for his replacement already. You give Manziel 3 years and he's just hitting his prime.

Weeden = horrible pick. Horrible.

No QB is given 3 years if they are sucking. Not anymore

I suppose if there is nobody else on the roster, someone has to play.

Gabbert, ugh. I dont condone bailing after one year on a guy, but he mighta been one of em.

Ponder and Gabbert say hi.Locker says yo I got four!
How is that working out for those teams?

It's why I keep writing big picture to you. You're so fixated with value in this years draft and not looking at this as if it will fail two years from now like you think it will.

And like I said before, you have no idea what you are talking about with regards to how I think.

I didnt even want a QB in this draft.

But now that we have our players, I have to talk about what we have...............right?

Sorry your boy teddy went 28 picks later than you thought he should have, get over it.

you keep deflecting attention to teddy when I don't bring it up. I preferred teddy but was never against Johnny. I got where people saw something special. I may not be totally on board, but I want to believe, and think there is reason to.You have been clear from the beginning that all of their guys blow. If they blow then it doesn't matter what else we did last Thursday. They are all getting fired and we are still looking for a qb after they do and will lose other players in the process because they don't want to play for a perennial loser.

I know. I have never at any point disagreed with this.

Which is why I didnt want a QB cause I dont think they will be good, meaning we wont be any good.

But we picked one. What you want me to do, go root for another team?

Well, if you do, mind taking someone with you?

Hey Mac, if you somehow knew about Teddy's feelings right before the draft, would you have still wanted him over Manziel?

“I actually told my agent that that’s not the place where I wanted to be,” Bridgewater said of Cleveland.

Could the club hold on little for this Season...but how would have help his development has well the development of other WR's on the team? I hope by the team cutting hin, he can wake up and work hard to have the same HOF career as CC.The fans base here were not going to support his development any more....we all wanted "win now"...I wiah Little the best esle where, just not with my team right now.

No, but I don't think taking that as fact would be wise either. It's a good way to begin developing his rep in Minnesota.

So the browns threw away their draft board and all the work they did for months because a PLAYER texted them..
Yes, the text sent them into a tizzy. That's why they had already been trying to trade up for him for over an hour. Cuz they knew he was gonna text the QB coach who would then text the owner who would then mandate the pick.

I find this story to be one of the stupidest I have ever heard. If true, the GM should be fired.

The Browns are like my D student child who gets in trouble with the law every day.

He sucks.................but he is my son and I will never stop rooting for him
nature vs. nurture?

just watched JM's interview on ESPN from the rookie camp. glad it was "normal" (local focused) vs. something like his pro day. that's the first time i've listened to him talk for more than a clip on tv, and i came away impressed. i'm not sure if it's PR coaching, but he really sounds humble and ready to prove himself. I wasn't a fan pre-draft mainly due to his size vs. NFL level competition and athletes, but i'm coming around. This summer is going to be interesting and could have been more so if gordon wasn't a total idiot.

And the owner shot on site.

Yeah, dumb.

This is what we get with Johnny though, at least for now. Gonna bring the kind of stupid attention and stories that we just arent used to. Kinda funny actually though. No reasonable human believes that is what happened.

Most people reacting to "the story" have no idea what they are talking about. They didn't bother to look at all the quotes. They didn't bother to look a little deeper beyond "the story".Just like the people reacting to JFF being called "the backup" by the owner.

It's all hilarious.

Another interesting tidbit I didn't see posted in here...

Receiver Charles Johnson eager to catch passes from Johnny Manziel, but he must first get healthy

ALLENDALE, MI – Cleveland Browns receiver Charles Johnson hopes someday to catch passes in a game from quarterback Johnny Manziel. But, for now, he has to be patient and hope the Browns feel the same way.

The former Grand Valley State standout has not been cleared to practice following knee surgery at the end of October, shortly after the Browns plucked him off the Green Bay Packers practice squad and found he had a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

“I’m doing everything I should be doing and I’m on schedule - it was just six months ago - but I have no idea yet when,” Johnson said of being cleared to practice.

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Johnson, 25, drafted by the Packers in the seventh round in 2013, has been in Cleveland during conditioning and training since early April. He caught passes on the side when the Browns held their voluntary veteran minicamp April 29-May 1.

The Browns’ rookie mini-camp continues today and will be closed to the media with the first appearance of Manziel, who was the 22nd pick in the draft.

Johnson said Manziel on Friday appeared to be “a laid back guy.”

“He’s cool, he’s a regular guy,” Johnson said. “He’s always reading and studying and trying to learn the playbook like everyone else.”

He wasn’t concerned about Manziel or Brian Hoyer in the quarterback battle because he needs his health before he can compete.

“I have to be patient because I really don’t want to rush it and have something happen,” he said. “I’m fortunate to be here, and I know they got me for a reason, so I have to keep working toward that goal to be healthy again.”

The Browns have a new coach in Mike Pettine, who will have to sort through an interesting batch of receivers.

Originally, Josh Gordon was expected to be the main target, but he faces league suspension over a third positive drug test. The Browns did not draft a receiver, but on Friday signed veterans Miles Austin and Earl Bennett to join recent signees Andrew Hawkins and Nate Burleson.

There is also third-year receiver and return specialist Travis Benjamin who, like Johnson, is coming off knee surgery in October and also has not been cleared to practice.

Johnson, meanwhile, is part of a bevy of others without much NFL experience including Josh Cooper, Tori Gurley and Conner Vernon.

Johnson had 128 receptions and 31 touchdowns in two seasons with the Grand Valley State.

The Browns OTA schedule picks up again Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday next week, and then periodically through June 6.

They wrap up offseason work June 10-12 with a mandatory veteran mini-camp.
