I'm not a huge Kaep fan, but if we don't have to give up #32, I'd gladly take him right now. Could the trade possibly involve the #2 and #7 picks? That's something nobody is really talking about. #2 for #7, Kaep, and a 3rd perhaps? Not sure to what extend this is true, but I heard yesterday his contract is voidable after 1 season. Regardless, I'd love to go into next season with Kaep starting, McCown backup, and a QB taken at #2 or #32 (might have to move up to get Lynch).
As far as losing the FA's go, Mr. Fancy made some great points above.
Mack took less to leave, not a lot, but still less. He rode the high horse out of town in his first interview, said all kinds of nice things about Cle and the org, and actually said it was a very tough decision to leave. I'm sure it wasn't so tough, but best of luck to him.
Schwartz, or should I say his agent, decided to play hard ball. We offered him a very fair contract, so fair it was actually an overpay based on what he was seeing once he started talking to other teams. The agent miscalculated his players worth. I have no issues with the Browns pulling the offer. I wanted Schwartz back because of his age, but I like that Sashi basically told the world we made a great offer, you should have taken it. They will get slammed nationally in the short term by people in the press who don't matter, but long term this will be helpful.
Gipson, this guy was overpaid and I'm really glad we didn't resign him. Very very replaceable. Then, unlike Mack, burns the bridge when he leaves town. But hey, he went to Jacksonville because he wanted to WIN. Now that's some funny #### right there.
Benjamin, replaceable. Have fun in the sun. Good dude though from everything I've read or heard.
