Michael Dyer (1 Viewer)

There's a roster spot there for the taking tho. Latavius and Helu make two (Reece at FB).

TRich seems like he's off on the wrong foot, training camp is short, and it sure seems like the guys that start out bad in TC always wind up bad.

I wish you people would stop talking about this guy.

At least until I am able to grab him in my leagues.

Grabbed him as a flyer in the 5th round of my rookie draft. Will probably have to cut him if you guys don't give me some reason to hold on. Any news?

I think he'll make the roster there (but that's not set in stone). Even if he does, there's a pretty deep depth chart and it may be a long road to meaningful opportunity. Murray is the clear starter and bell cow. Helu is the passing down specialist and perhaps the 2-min offense back. They seem interested in using Taiwan Jones in a pseudo McCluster role.

If Murray goes down, which isn't that outlandish a proposition, Helu probably gets a shot at being the bell cow. It's POSSIBLE that Dyer could earn early down carries with Helu staying in his 3rd down role and Jones as a gadget guy, but it's not necessarily likely.

I've read they also like George Atkinson too, so Dyer being ahead of Trent isn't a guarantee he makes the roster... could be a practice squad guy.

You also have to add Reece in there somewhere.

Just watched his carries/catches tonight. Stat line was ugly, but still better than what Helu and Atkinson did in the game. Raiders weren't blocking anybody on most plays. Don't know that Dyer will make the team though. Murray and Jones seem to be clearly ahead of him. He seems to be ahead of Atkinson.

Guessing that it will be Helu vs. Dyer for the final spot. Dyer has his strong points. He is stocky and has good north-south burst. Biggest weakness that I see is somewhat sluggish feet and below average elusiveness. He's a bit straight-line. Not hopeless in the open field, but incapable of making those decisive "plant your foot and explode sideways" cuts that are the hallmark of so many great backs. Once he gets his momentum going, he is not able to redirect it effortlessly without losing speed. He also has only average foot quickness behind the line of scrimmage.

Roster cuts are going to be a sweat for him. I think he will at least make a practice squad. To have any real FF value though, you'd probably want to see him make the 53 and then hope that Murray fails as a starter. Wouldn't bet on both of those things happening together. Still a slim chance.

Thanks for the analysis
