Greg Olsen signs with Seattle; with rumors to start rap career with Macklemore (4 Viewers)

NY Post's Andrew Marchand reports Greg Olsen signed with Fox Sports to be their No. 2 NFL analyst when he retires.

Olsen has been fantastic in his limited broadcasting appearances, so this doesn't come as a surprise. This signing will not affect his 2020 outlook at all, but this very well could be his final season in the league. Olsen will be making just about as much in the booth as he'd be making as a 35-year-old tight end next year. For fantasy this season, Olsen slides into the TE2/3 conversation as a low-volume target who will be touchdown-dependent.

The only thing stopping G Olson is injuries. Witten was done 2+ years ago.
J Witten is in Las Vegas to school the other TE's. If he catches more then
20 passes in that offense something is seriously wrong.

Russell Wilson is as efficient as they come, but Seahawks aren't in same league as NFL's top offenses

Andy: Let’s not ignore the addition of Greg Olsen, one of the best tight ends of his era. Obviously we’re about a half-decade past his peak, but the tight end position gets plenty of attention from Wilson. Last year, Hollister and Dissly combined for 18 red-zone targets (and nine inside the 10-yard line). If Olsen can remain healthy-ish, he can finish top-8 at his position.

710 ESPN Seattle projects Greg Olsen for the third-most targets in the Seahawks' offense.

The Seahawks paid Olsen starter money ($7 million) after his release from the Panthers. With Will Dissly (Achilles) working into game shape, there’s not much doubt over his role. Olsen should be ahead of whoever wins the No. 3 receiver job, but it's possible he'll cede snaps to a healthy Dissly, Jacob Hollister, and rookie Colby Parkinson (foot, active/NFI). Targets are up for grabs behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, but a semi-retired Olsen is going to be more touchdown dependent than a high-volume option.

Greg Olsen caught 4-of-4 targets for 24 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' Week 1 win over the Falcons.

Olsen played a healthy 41 snaps as he made his Seahawks debut. His score was a seven-yarder near the end of the first half. Olsen has little ceiling left at this stage of his career, but he will have a consistent TE2 floor in an offense that never lacks for targets at the tight end position. The Patriots' opt-out depleted defense — including Pat Chung — is on tap for Week 2.

Greg Olsen caught 5-of-6 targets for 61 yards in the Seahawks' Week 3 win over the Cowboys.

Olsen's six targets were the third most on the team. He's not as bursty as before, but Olsen can be a reliable option underneath while DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett bring the fireworks. Olsen's upside will ultimately be tied to quite random touchdowns, although Russell Wilson will be throwing a lot of them this year. Olsen is a TE2 streaming option in Miami.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Greg Olsen (foot, IR) is a "longshot" to play in Week 15 against Washington.

Olsen was designated to return from IR earlier this week. He got in some practice reps but is unlikely to be activated for Sunday's game. Seattle will continue to go with a committee of Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister with Olsen sidelined.

Greg Olsen is retiring.
Rotoworld:

Greg Olsen is retiring after 14 seasons in the NFL.

35-year-old Olsen announced his retirement on FOX's NFC Championship Game pre-game show, and confirmed he will begin working for the network in 2021. The No. 31 overall pick of the 2007 Draft, Olsen was inconsistent his first few years in the league under Bears OCs Ron Turner and Mike Martz. A 2011 trade to Carolina and Cam Newton immediately turned him into an All-Pro-type player, one who made three Pro Bowls and caught a whopping 742 career passes. That total is fifth all time amongst tight ends. It would have been much higher if not for a spate of late-career foot issues, injuries that limited him to 41 games over the past four years. That, of course, is the nature of football. Olsen will probably end up on the outside looking in of the Hall-of-Fame, but he should at least generate some discussion.
