2024 Detroit Lions: Getting ready for the draft in Motown. (7 Viewers)

Shes reading a typewritten statement...badly.
Lets see how quick your brain is at 91.
Little harsh, yea. sorry.

Point being..this is typical SOP for the Lions. "We know what were doing, no questions please". Such a pompous organization for never having won anything. Have lots of friends that are long-suffering Lions fans. I feel truly feel sorry for them.

Glad to see they finally made some moves that appear to be moving them in the right direction.

Sheldon White should have been the GM over Mayhew in the first place in a bit of irony. Whats even funnier is he may be the best man for the job now.

She's 90.

(sorry but that 91 has been misquoted in this thread 50 times this year)

Sheldon White? I remember him, DB on the only Lions team that won a playoff game.

Wonder why not Brian Xanders?

Hail no!! White has been with the Lions for 19 years of losing. Lions need a fresh start with everybody.

Well they had to name someone interim GM. White is VP of Pro Personnel so he's probably the best fit for the short term.

Lewand's dad was WCF's personal attorney & got the President position by virtue of kissing butt. Give Martha credit for getting rid of both of them - most thought Mathew would go but Lewand would have a soft landing.

Keep going, Martha.

This reminds me of a certain contest in a movie about real estate salesmen. 1st prize would have been a new car (owner). 3rd prize would have been to continue on as they have been. Looks like we won that set of steak knives.

Terry Foster reported that Lewand back stabbed JR in a power struggle after the old man died and that they have not spoke in 5 months. They used to be bro`s.

I'm a long-standing and long-suffering Lions fan going back to the mid-60's. As far as I see it the Ford family needs to sell this team to an owner who will create a new culture. Short term...Caldwell probably done soon enough too! Only reason he stays is because no one is left.

What a bunch of ####### drama queens

Irony: Martha Cleans House or some variant is the popular headline today.

Odds Martha Firestone Ford has ever cleaned a house in her lifetime?

Same odds as her ever changing a tire on her Ford.
Back in the '90s Michael Moore had a show called "TV Nation" where one of his bits was going to CEO's houses and getting them to meet him outside and use their company's products. Most of them stonewalled him (ie, the CEO of Phillip Morris refused to smoke a cigarette with him), but the one who played ball was the CEO of Ford (must have been WCF), who came out and changed the oil on his car. Of course, that might have had something to do with the fact that Moore had earlier made an entire movie castigating his counterpart at GM.

Per The Detroit News here are the top guys out there to be the new GM:

Bob Quinn

Director of pro scouting, Patriots

Age: 39

Background: Joined the Patriots in 2000 as a player personnel assistant and moved up as a scout on all levels until he was named pro scouting director in 2012. Considered about as comprehensive of a talent evaluator as any staffer in the NFL. Massachusetts native and Connecticut graduate (bachelor’s and masters degrees). Married, with a son and daughter.

Eliot Wolf

Director of player personnel, Packers

Age: 33

Background: Son of the venerated and retired Packers GM Ron Wolf, whose personnel wizardry beginning 20 years ago re-established Green Bay as an annual championship contender. Eliot, at age 10, joined his father in the Packers film room and began an apprenticeship that showed a son’s skills were not dissimilar from his father’s. Has had a rapid ascent as a scout and personnel director. A graduate of the Miami. Married, no children.

Martha & Sheila should lean on the NFL executive search panel.

What's the track record of Pats alums in GM roles? It certainly can't be worse than Belichick's coaching tree. The only one I know of is Pioli, who did not particularly distinguish himself in KC. I think Dimitroff may be as well.
