Amazon Prime (1 Viewer)

He confirmed that I was talking about an Amazon Prime membership, asked if I was paying annually or monthly, then asked how much I pay for Prime
  this should have been a huge clue...like a CS Rep wouldn't know this information

How many phones do you own?
I can't speak for him but I charge a lot more than just my phone using USB. I do own two phones(a daily driver and a travel phone), two tablets(a big one for around the house and one that's more mobile for travel), two pair of wireless headphones(small pair for working out, larger high quality pair for around the house or travel), a smartwatch, a mini remote control for the entertainment center, and a wireless keyboard.

I don't have kids or entertain a ton but if I did it's very convenient to have a station where a lot of folks can charge up all at the same time. An added benefit is when everyone is charging their devices the conversations are certainly less distracted(for instance at meals/playing board games/etc). My wife has guests more often than I do but her guests are always grateful to have a place to easily charge. Certainly not a necessity, but I would miss it if I went back to have a dozen USB chargers sprinkled around the house as was the case at one time. Still have a single charger next to my nightstand but this thing is the only other charger in the house for my wife and myself.

I'm not saying I would every pay that price for that device(I have a much cheaper/smaller version) but those things are extremely useful imo. If measured by how often it actually gets used, it's easily one of the better Amazon purchases I've ever made.

It’s all funny but this one made me chuckle.

6. Man then told me to sign in to my Amazon.com account, search “Google Play card,” select a $100 gift card and click “Buy Now”

:lmao:
Yeah, the video of the call is even better.  So sad that people are clueless enough to fall for it.

Received an order this morning (Black Battery Covers For Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller) and one was smashed, the other cracked. Getting return thru Amazon was NBD, I didn't want to have to go thru the hassle of returning it, since they were broken beyond repair (and not very expensive). They will just be crediting me the $$$ for the original cost.

I communicated with them via chat, and realized it would be smart for Amazon to allow me to send a picture of the item, then we don't have to worry about the cost of shipping back to them. The item cost $6.50, and them paying to ship it twice is a waste of $$$!

does anybody know if the Amazon Show can give you a full month calendar view on a single screen.

my mother always had a wall calendar in the kitchen showing all the family events which was very convenient but I'd like to get the same but automatically updated to my iOS and Google calendars

They have to keep bad people from scamming them as much as possible.

Buy covers.  Smash them.  Take picture, have them refund money.  Buy another set, send picture of the smashed set from a different angle, have them refund money.  At that point, you have paid for 1 set, have 1 set, and have a refund for 1 set.  It's like the NHL point system...

I haven't followed this thread closely, so forgive me if this has been discussed...maybe a slight hijack since this is not "Prime" specific.  The last couple things I have ordered have been shipped to my house in the product packaging, not in any sort of additional generic brown box.  They just slap a shipping label onto the product's original packaging.  I am not sure when they started doing this, but I don't recall it in the past.  Obviously, anyone can see what it is you have ordered, and it seems to me thieves could easily target certain merchandise.  When did this practice start?

I've had this happen a few times for a while now on larger boxes. Someone must have figured out they can save shipping costs doing it this way.

Haven't experience this.  If it's not at least "Fulfilled by Amazon" that means it's shipped by the seller directly.  Amazon is just acting as the store front in those cases.  I always try to get "Ships from and Sold by Amazon" even if it costs a couple bucks more.  If Amazon doesn't have it always get "Sold by XYZ and Fulfilled by Amazon."

Look for an option that says ship in an Amazon box. For some items the default is to ship in the product packaging but you can request an Amazon box.

I worked in a FC (shipping center) for a little over 5 years('09 - '15'). So its been going on for at least that long.   If the packaging is considered "thick" or durable enough, it can have a label slapped on it without being put in an Amazon box.  If you want it in a box, pick the gift option at checkout. Diaper boxes are mostly shipped with just a label slapped on them.

What a painful conversation.  The first 20 min was used to discuss how to stop the annoying and loud responses from Alexa when you turn off/on the lights.  FYI, this may be available in your part of the country, just not mine yet.  This is me trying to turn off the light ring.  It would seem to me a very basic requirement of having people doing any kind of support, is to have them at least have a basic understanding of what they are supporting.

Me:ok

Is there a way to disable the light/

?

Bippalav Kumar:Yes, There is a way to disable:)

Also, I am thankful for your your understanding.

Just to confirm you don't want to control your lights through Alexa. Am I correct?

Me:No

The light on the actual Echo

Bippalav Kumar:Just to confirm are you referring to the light ring on the top of the device when you give the command.

Me:yes

Bippalav Kumar:Are you referring to the light rings which automatically comes without any command.

Me:The actual lights on the echo

Blue Ring

Yellow for notification

Bippalav Kumar:You want to disable the yellow ring and blur ring.

Me:Yes I want to disable the light

the light ring

I want it off

Bippalav Kumar:In this case I request you to please disable the notification through your ALexa app.

You can use the Alexa app to turn notifications for supported features on or off:

1. Go to the menu and select Settings.

2. Scroll to the Accounts section and select Notifications.

3. Select a feature (under "Amazon") to view notifications options.

4. Use the toggle to turn notifications options On or Off.

Me:So there is no way to just turn the light off for everything?

other than hammer

Bippalav Kumar:Please allow me a moment to look into this for you.

In this case a member of our Echo Specialist team will need to help you with this. Please hold while I transfer you.

A Customer Service Associate will be with you in a moment.

You are now connected to Bagio from Amazon.com

Bagio:Hello, my name is Bagio. Please give me a moment to review the previous correspondence.

Thanks for waiting patiently.

Upon checking your previous conversation, I can understand that you want to turn off the light ring color in your device. Am I right?

Me:yes

Bagio: The light rings in the device are to notify the device state and used as a indicator.

Me:I understand what it does

Bagio:It is not possible to permanently disable the lights in the device while it is in use.

To help you in this case, I will take this as a feedback and will forward this to our Alexa development team.

Thanks for your understanding in advance.

Me:ok

Based on most of my customer support conversations (mostly with Spectrum, formerly Time Warner), I would say your experience went exceptionally well.

I got an email today apologizing about an item that should have arrived today but now is going to be at least a few days late. It's been a little while since that's happened, and my wife called to complain and got the usual free month of prime added on.

I appreciate that they do that, but it would be so much cooler if they would just tack it on automatically when they send the notice of late shipment. I really hate having to complain, but feel like a sucker if I don't when I know the free month is there for the taking if I do. Fortunately (in this case) my wife has no qualms about complaining.

Prime members get 20% off game preorders, so I picked up Mario Tennis.  I was curious if I could actually get the game the day it came out, so I upped the shipping to 1day for about $3.50..  says it's coming today before 9:00pm.  So just a heads up, if your looking for a title on release day, Amazon isn't the way to go.

You could just download it directly.

So I order from Amazon probably 5 days a week. I tried Google Express for comparison and OMG what a trainwreck. I canceled the minor savings I got on the Express order and went back to Prime and ordered.

With Express you order, then they automatically check promotional email boxes for them and the retailer. You then click support to ask them why and the recommended chat is not responsive. You then get an email that you won't be charged for a few days in case the price drops and product should arrive in 5 days. All good intentions but I felt like they needed to hire me to help them get going. ?

Does this massive company even know who they're competing with?

funny, i was opening up this thread and wondering to myself "myself, I wonder when there will be another Prime Day?" and as it would be, the video you had to watch to enter one of those contests was about Prime Day on July 15-16.

yep, got an email about that from Amazon a couple of days ago

They've had release date shipping on video games for like over a decade. Did you pre-order it like the day before it released or something?

This isn't accurate. I have bought many games using Prime and you have to select the option to get it on release day.

I forget where but you can signup to receive email notifications directly from Amazon for the giveaways. I try to remember to scan my morning email because there are usually 2 or 3 on their worth entering. Haven't won anything yet, but haven't been doing it until recently.

Entered a crapton off the aggregate list. No instant wins, but I'm sure I'll be winning several on the nightly drawings. ;)

I had to "follow" a bunch of people. What does this mean and how/when can I "unfollow"?
