FBG 2012 "How did I do" Thread (1 Viewer)

From the 5 spot:

QB-Vick(5), Locker(12), Fitzpatrick(16)

RB-Sproles(2), Richardson(3), Tate(8), Quiz (10), Gerhardt(11), Al Morris (14)

WR-Lloyd(4), Floyd(7), Little(9), LaFell(13), Smith STL (17), Vin Brown (19)

TE-Gronk(1), Pettigrew(6), H. Miller (15)

DEF-Bills(18)

K-Gould(20)

Out of the 8 hole late night draft-

QB: Newton (4), Peyton Manning (10)

RB: Johnson (1), MJD (2), David Wilson (8), Javon Ringer (13), Daniel Thomas (14), Alex Green (16), James Starks (17)

WR: Jennings (3), Stevie Johnson (5), Demaryius Thomas (6), Randy Moss (11), Jon Baldwin (12), Laurent Robinson (18)

TE: Celek, (7), Owen Daniels (9), Pitta (20)

K: Gould (19)

D: Baltimore (15)

Draft was wild. Jimmy G, Gronk and Hernandez went in the 1st round. Rodgers fell to 2.4 right before my pick at 2.5. I drafted a team last week in post #86 and think this team is a lot better.

First time doing the FPC. My co-owner and I were lucky and got the 1st draft position. Here's how we ended up:

QB: Rivers (8) / Roethlisberger (11)

RB: Rice (1) / SJax (2) / R. Bush (4) / R. Williams (9) / Mendenhall (15) / Pierce (20)

WR: VJax (6) / DJax (7) / Rice (10) / Collie (11) / R. Moss (13) / D. Baldwin (17) / Randle (19)

TE: Gates (3) / Witten (5) / Miller (14)

PK: Crosby (18)

TD: Lions (16)

Weakest spot is WR, which is concerning in PPR, but I felt like we compensated by nailing Gates/Witten early so we'll be flexing TE all season. Our RB strength is fairly solid and all RBs are pass-catching RBs, so we could start 4 RBs by mid-season. So what do you guys think?

thanks for your insight into the following picks. week 1 will be tough but week 2 is going to be huge for your team if mjd starts and mathews plays too. personally i would rather be weak at wr2 than rb2, hope it works out for both of us

nice foundation for a team. those are some risky rbs that will make your season or break your heart. also to nitpick, not sure why throw away a pick on bradford.

Yeah, I decided to take on some more risk at RB and so I can get some more upside at WR/TE. We'll see how it works out...definitely a different strategy from my other draft.

From 2-spot tonight. Let me know what you think. Hopefully gives some insight into very fresh ADPs too.

QB: Vick (7), Freeman.

RB: McCoy (1), AP (2), Gore (4), Leshour (9), D Thomas, B Jacobs.

WR: Welker (3), D Thomas (5), VJax (6), R Cobb, D Baldwin, D Moore (10), E Royal.

TE: Tamme (8), H Miller, J Thomas (total flier here).

DEF/ST: Steelers.

K: Nate Kaeding.

Unforunately, Toby was sniped in the 8th round, and Hunter shortly thereafter. Intended to grab Toby the 9th/10th. Other regrets are not snagging higher-quality depth at pretty much all positions, especially WR and TE. As often happens, people were grabbing guys I wanted right before my pick. I think I left value on the table there, but hopefully Cobb and/or Royal and/or Moore will pan out. Also, I wanted more fliers at TE... specifically Kendricks and Cook (8.8) and the stability of Olsen (7.11), but all went about a round earlier than I anticipated/wanted to pay.

I didn't really want Vick, but he was hard to pass up in the 7th round. AP needs to get healthy quickly too and Vick needs to STAY healthy. Manning needs to make D Thomas and Tamme threats. As noted above, one of my sleeper receivers will need to step up.

Team is high risk, but I believe it has tremendous upside - my goal in this contest.

Please let me know what you think... still somewhat new to FF and always learning!

Maybe its late but this team also looks like it could be in the running for a long time. A lot of depth on this team with players I like. Just think if he would of picked one of the two big tight ends instead of MJD in the 1st.

Drafted from the #7 hole last last night. Wasn't notified of the draft slot until about 15 minutes prior to draft time, but had prepared multiple strategies just in case.

1) J Graham (highest rated non-QB still on my board)

2) T Brady (#1 QB on my board)

3) S Jackson (love SJax and think he finishes top 10 this year)

4) H Nicks (still a #1 WR, and top 10, in my book)

5) M Wallace (wasn't crazy about Wallace pre-draft, but in the 5th...gotta grab him there)

6) V Jackson (see Nicks comment above)

7) T Gonzalez (I live in Atlanta and attend Falcons practices. Gonzo will be the benefactor of having Julio/Roddy on the outside)

8) M Ingram (upside vs ADP - hoping last year was a fluke and he's the 'main' guy this year)

9) R Helu (upside vs ADP - IMO he's the best RB on the team even if Shanny plays musical chairs. Talent usually wins out)

10) C Wells (upside vs ADP - see Wallace comment above - no worse than the GL back IMO)

11) M LeShoure (upside vs ADP - see Helu and Wells comments above)

12) R Jennings (not a fan of any holdout player producing so I expect Jennings to carry a bigger load than expected)

13) J Simpson (love Simpson and have him in nearly every draft. Great upside once he returns)

14) J Freeman (not sure why he's been falling so far, but I'll take him in the 14th round all day)

15) D Baldwin (see Simpson comments above)

16) R Cobb (easily worth a flyer here in the 16th round. Either GB starting WR goes down and Cobb will produce)

17) Bills (add best front four in the NFL to adverse weather starting around week 8 and I like them a lot)

18) M Crosby (#3 kicker on my board)

19) E Bennett (was hoping he'd be there. Grabbing him everywhere I can. Cutler's security blanket and IMO will outproduce all Bear WRs except Marshall)

20) M Goodson (worthy of a flier here with DMC risk. Don't see Taiwan Jones being a 3-down RB)

Probable starters in bold

QB: Brady, Freemen

RB: SJackson, Ingram, Helu, Wells, LeShoure, Jennings, Goodson

WR: Nicks, Wallace, VJackson, Simpson, Baldwin, Cobb, Bennett

TE: Graham, Gonzalez

K: Crosby

Def: Bills

Please feel free to comment on my draft and explanations. Looking forward to hearing what others see here. Let me know your post and I'll reply in kind. Thanks.

1st time doing FBGPC...would love to hear any comments.

Drafted from #2 hole

QB - Peyton, Luck

RB - Ray Rice, SJax, Spiller, Bilal Powell, Taiwan Jones, Bernard Pierce

WR - A.J. Green, VJax, Antonio Brown, Baldwin, Steve Smith (STL), Cobb

TE - Fred Davis, Celek, Housler

Wondering if I should handcuff SJax. Have a lot riding on Peyton's health. Hoping to get lucky w/ Powell taking over or the inevitable McFadden injury.
