And at the same time Stannis is coming that way as well. It would be pretty cool if Littlefinger has already been in touch with Stannis at the wall, and it's Stannis that helps the overthrow of Winterfell. At that point, Jon has to help somehow, meaning you have the Nightswatch, the wildings, Winterfell, Starks, all of Littlefingers holdings, all ready to start making their way to King's Landing.

...

Why would he have the support of the Nightswatch and the wildlings? I thought Jon made it pretty clear he was staying at the wall and isn't going to interfere with politics.

If I had to bet money, Jon isn't staying at the wall and he will also be able to get the wildings somehow on his side. It makes too much sense. And part of that is the sense that there is an ultimate battle that is world changing. It isn't so much just the small g game of thrones, but the ultimate end for the world. To me, that would include somehow a destruction of the wall and the acceptance that the people that live on the other side are just as much citizens of the west. I could be compeltely off base on that though but there is where I am coming from mostly with my ideas on how the long story is shaping up.

Yea, I like this thinking.... The Nightswatch as is will be a small speed bump against the White Walkers but if Jon joins up with Stannis and gains the Free Folk support then maybe he can actually fight against the White Walkers. I think the key here is going to be the sorry state of the Nightswatch. Whether he leaves it or leads up away from the wall.... that will be interesting to see. But this makes the most sense to me right now in as much as guessing the future.

I bet all those people who named their daughters  “Khaleesi” feel kinda dumb right now.

Why do people say the Arya thing is fan service? That’s so ### #### lazy. They spent 7 ####ing seasons working up to that. Pay attention.

Let's talk about danny. First, she was nothing without her claim to the throne.  She was raised by her ######## brother to think that was the only thing that mattered. Episode 1 he starts out by

Some other rumblings going on.

The Sparrows - What is Cersei's angle getting so personally involved? Does she realize she needs all the friends she can get at this point? She knows Lancel is now part of the group, she must see some benefit.

Jaqen - Here we serve the Many Faced God. There is only one god (lower case g) A girl knows his name All men know his gift. He's always cryptic but what, or who, does he mean? Is the Many Faced God someone that gives them power to shape shift? What about the rest of what he said.

The woman preaching in the square that Tyrion and Varys see. She preaching about the Lord of Light but calls the Queen of Dragons the savior. What does Danys have to do with Melisandre's religion? Fire? Dragons?

Loved when the old priest sees Qyburn and doesn't know his name..."It doesn't matter"

The gift is death. The corpse they were washing was the guy who drank something Jaqen gave him.

Makes sense. I knew they were giving them something to drink that put them out of their misery. Should be interesting to see if Arya gets the chance to get revenge on those on her list.

Not only can the faceless men be any man, but their god can be any god. That's what I took from Arya's observations of the icons of all the different gods in the beginning.

They should have done a better effect when the old black dude transformed into Jaqen, instead of just panning behing Arya's head.

So he's going to be able to train Arya on how to become a shapeshifter?

Rewatched episode 2, and wtf did Arya do to gain access? Was told to present the coin and say the words' she did and gets told to #### off. She sits outside for what seems to be days and I thought it was some Fight Club thing. Nope, she just starts wandering. Then I thought maybe she had to prove her intent or skills on the street. Nope- dude stumbled across her and then just lets her in? Seemed pointless.
Yeah, they ruined that entire part IMO. It could have been different and so much better. I mean, not that I have anything to base that on but I suspect they could have. That was so weak.

There really is not a lot of fluff in GOT. They have had two major scenes now where Stannis is shown recruiting Jon. It is possible that it is just to show how honorable Jon is in keeping with his oath as part of character development or maybe to throw us off the trail of what is really going to happen but I suspect these scenes have real importance. (add in other scenes like the glances after Jon kills Slynt as well)

I agree with you on the importance. I think that Jon is going to bring the wildings into the fold.

Might have to kill Tormund to do it.

Honestly, it's a LOT of backstory and set up - I was ok with the first two, but this last one dragged big time. Needs to pick up, though that seems to be in store shortly.

In my view, GOT's has spoiled it's viewers. For me, the show has earned some time to set up. Heck, we all need to catch our breath (though the 9 months in between seasons helps the viewers do that without needing it in the show).
I agree and was defending the first two episodes vehemently.

But this was one episode or at least a half episode too much and it just dragged.

It says a lot about this show that people can feel an episode that saw the "star" captured, a primary character handed off to wed a madman, a religious cult emerging, a mountain being frankensteined and a mans head cut off for good measure can be considered slow or filler.

How would the mountain not be totally decomposed by now? That had to have been a long time ago he died.

What makes you think he died? The lat time we say him he was still barely alive. I suspect the rogue Maester has been keeping him alive and "repairing" him through somewhat unnatural means

I don't think he ever died. Did he? I thought he was pretty critically injured and they didn't think he could be saved or would ever be the "same". Curious to see what Frankenmountain looks like now.

Correct. Poisoned by The Red Viper's spear. Qyburn is the "rogue Maester" that Cersei appointed Hand and has been working on the Mt.

I joked about it a couple of weeks ago but now I'm wondering if Qyburn really is going to put that dwarf head on the Mountain. He said it could prove useful.

This could be an awesome meme. What head is going to be on The Mountain.

My guess - Ed Stark.

So there is one thing that has had me cracking up for awhile about this show. All of the lavish names, like Tommen, Tyrion, Tywin, Bronn, Vaarys, Stannis, etc. etc. Then it was either this week or last, but we come to find out that Cercei's uncle's name is.......Kevin. Am i the only one that has found this really funny. it was like Martin was writing this book and literally just said, F it, i can't think of another name, this guy is Kevin. It is like a random "Steve" or something, for some reason just has cracked me up

I was thinking a bit about this season and what seems to be going on as far as themes go and what I think is going to go on with some of the main characters (predictions surely to be wrong!!)

This season or where it's heading seems to be all about our main characters having to make big choices about past vs. future.

Arya: This is setting up to be her having to choose her list and being Arya over the way of the life of these assassins. I think she will finally let go of her past (that includes ditching Needle too), but maybe as a reward or by chance toward the end she will cross paths with somebody on the list and get to take them out. Cersei maybe?

Cersei: I think she already made her decision - she will cling to wanting to rule but she was given the out of being able to go back to Casterly Rock. Her past relationships will come out, and probably public knowlege of Tommen's lineage.

Jon: Will have a big decison of Winterfell vs. Wall. I think he is fine for now, but I would guess maybe word of Sansa being there and in danger might tip the scales to that side. Prediction: He will head south, and that puts the wall in enough jeopardy that the White Walkers will get through somehow. He will have to head back but the brother's will not be behind him anymore. Probably sacrifices himself in battle?

Jamie: His past vs. future decision I think will come down to Cersei vs. his children. I think he finally goes along with the knowledge that Tommen and Marcella are his (Bronn has been prodding this along) and tells Cersei to #### off. Also in the end will soften his stance on Tyrion.

Sansa: Maybe this is a Winterfell/Starks vs. Littlefinger decision? He told her that she should avenge her family by going to Winterfell and I would assume deal with the Boltons somehow. I would also assume that he has more in store for her after that, and that is when she turns her back on him.

Dany: She has to decide to be the mother of dragons or not. She has been dicking around this town for too long sitting on her ###. I think the encounters with the dragons were meant to show us that she is not their mother. Maybe they can sense when she is 'back' and will be on her side? I really like the idea somebody brought up that she will sack up and head to the Iron Bank. They have been talked about enough and I am sure they are ready to turn on the Lannisters for good now and get behind somebody else.

Tyrion: Not sure how he fits this idea, but in the end I think he decides that he is good at ruling. I joked about Littlefinger rounding on the throne after a huge battle, but I think that Tyrion ends up there after all is said and done.

Brienne: Has to decide if she is going to give up trying to protect the Stark sisters or not. Knowing her, she will not, and that will be her downfall. I think she bites it this season.

Tripod: Decides against his past as a squire and takes up his new calling pleasuring every whore in Westeros.

Ahhh thanks, I don't know why I just assumed both of those guys had died.
