Tyler Eifert, TE (JAC) (2 Viewers)

Tyler Eifert caught 2-of-4 targets for 20 yards and one touchdown in the Bengals' Week 10 loss to the Ravens.

The offense was horrible, but fourth-round rookie QB Ryan Finley tossed his first career touchdown to Eifert in the corner of the end zone on a back-shoulder fade. Eifert has been a low-volume target for most weeks and his fantasy value has been completely tied to touchdowns. With the Bengals not scoring many of them, Eifert is a low-end TE2 even in good matchups like next week against the Raiders.

Tyler Eifert caught all four of his targets for 49 yards in the Bengals' Week 14 loss to the Browns.

The 49 yards were Eifert's second-most of the season. He has just two touchdowns. That tells us all we need to know. Eifert isn't a fantasy option.

Tyler Eifert caught 4-of-8 targets for 57 yards and one touchdown in the Bengals' Week 16 loss to the Dolphins.

Eifert finally had a productive receiving line. All it took was eight targets in an overtime game against the tanking Dolphins. Don't expect a similar performance in Week 17 against the Browns to close out the year.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Jaguars are "working diligently" toward signing free agent Tyler Eifert.

It's the first we've heard of the 29-year-old in free agency. One of the most injury-plagued players in recent memory, Eifert is coming off a 16-game campaign for the first time in his seven-year career. The Jags have one of the league's thinnest tight end groups. Eifert will need to remain a role player to stay healthy, but he will be a valuable presence in the red zone wherever he ends up.

Jaguars signed TE Tyler Eifert, formerly of the Bengals, to a two-year contract.

The story has been out on Eifert for years. Whenever healthy, he's been a rock-solid receiver, especially in the red zone where he can use his big frame. Last season, the Bengals scaled back his workload to help keep him on the field, and it worked as he played 16 games for the first time in his career. Eifert will be reunited with OC Jay Gruden in Jacksonville where he'll operate as one of the top goal-line targets for Gardner Minshew. Expect Eifert to be selected as a low-end TE2 in fantasy drafts.

Jacksonville Jaguars reporter John Oesher believes Tyler Eifert "has looked good early" in camp.

Eifert quietly looked healthy last season with the Bengals and earned a two-year contract in Jacksonville. He was expected to split reps with Josh Oliver, but the youngster broke his foot in camp and is not expected to miss some games. With the coaching change expected to bring more passing, Eifert could make his way into the low-end TE2 conversation for deep leagues. Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has featured tight ends before.

Sports Illustrated's John Shipley reports Tyler Eifert has shown a "strong connection" with Gardner Minshew throughout camp.

It's something that Jacksonville beat writers discussed during the first week of camp, too. Second-year TE Josh Oliver's (foot surgery) recent move to injured reserve ensures Eifert at the very least stay glued to the field out of necessity. The 29-year-old veteran warrants a dart as a TE2 in the later rounds of fantasy drafts after he played 16 games for the first time in his career just last year.

Tyler Eifert caught 3-of-4 targets for 16 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' Week 12 loss to the Browns.

Eifert still ceded four targets to backup tight end James O'Shaugnessy and his yardage total of 16 is less than inspiring. He has seen at least four targets in six games this year but hasn't topped 50 yards once. Eifert is a touchdown-or-bust tight end with Mike Glennon as his quarterback. There are worse streaming options at the position but there are also undoubtedly better options.

Jaguars TE Tyler Eifert (shoulder) is active for Week 14 against the Titans.

Eifert's status was never in doubt. He's a bottom-barrel TE2. Inactive for the Jaguars are QB Jake Luton, CB Luq Barcoo, LB Kamalei Correa, LB Quincy Williams, C Brandon Linder, TE Tyler Davis and DE Reggie Gilbert.

A CLOSER LOOK AT IRV SMITH'S WEEK 16 MATCHUP

Excerpt:

Tyler Eifert (JAC) vs. Bears

I refuse to go a single week without writing about how generous the Bears have been to enemy tight ends.

No defense allows a larger target share to tight ends than the Bears. Nearly 25 percent of targets against Chicago this season have gone to tight ends. That works out to 8.28 tight end targets per game. That, as we say in the industry, is significant.

Tyler Eifert's usage isn't nearly as spotty as I thought it would be. Just last week against Baltimore, Eifert ran 22 pass routes -- 12 more than fellow Jags tight end James O'Shaughnessy -- while drawing four targets and catching three for 51 yards. And from Week 9 to Week 13, Eifert saw at least five targets in four of five games. It's not much, but it's something.

Eifert should be considered a spot starter in deeper fantasy leagues in the best possible Week 16 matchup. Only Buffalo has given up more tight end catches than the Bears in 2020. Jacksonville should once again -- as always -- face a truckload of negative game script this week, forcing Gardner Minshew to the air early and often. That could work out just fine for a tertiary option like Eifert.

The Jaguars declined TE Tyler Eifert's 2021 option, making him a free agent.

The move saves the Jaguars $5.25 million against the cap. After injuries ruined a span of his career in Cincinnati, Eifert has been able to stay healthy the last two seasons, appearing in 31-of-32 games. In his lone season with Jacksonville, 30-year-old Eifert turned 60 targets into a 36-349-2 line across 15 games. His 52-615-13 year in 2015 was an extreme outlier. Eifert will likely have to settle for another one-year deal.
