@Eephusshould we start thinking about protected lists? Looks like the draft was around early February last year. Do we have any owner turnover this year?

CBS charges $150/season including the $30 early bird discount, which is pretty steep for a $600 league.  If greedygoat's friend doesn't have Serious Biz on autorenew  , we're probably looking at a migration to Fantrax unless somebody has a better idea.

 
Fantrax sounds good to me.

My protect list is pretty much set so I’m ready to go whenever, though it probably doesn’t need to be until February at the earliest.

 
I’m pretty sure he put it on auto renew. I don’t have access to the cbs site anymore. Is it showing as not paid for 2019?

Next steps:

  1. Protect 25 players by Feb 4.  Google sheet in progress
  2. See if Greedygoat's friend still works for CBS
  3. FOUR round competitive balance draft in reverse order of 2018 standings (Non-snake).  Each team can only lose three unprotected players.
  4. Process any necessary drops to get all teams back to 40 man rosters
  5. Annual waivers cycle using waivers order carried over from last year.
  6. Open transactions (FCFS) for the remainder of the season
  7. Spartans Rule is holding the funds again this year (I think)

I'm away Jan 26 - Feb 2, so if it seems like I'm not paying attention or putting my protected list in, I'm actually in Mexico scouting super deep sleepers and/or eating all the tacos and drinking all the beer.

 
We still have 2 weeks but I'll go ahead and post my list. Might change it in case of major offseason developments but I'm pretty sure this is what I'm going with.

Open to trades but my best prospects are off limits for now. I have an excess of young-ish MLB outfielders and could move one for a prospect, a veteran arm, or maybe even a first-round CB pick.

Can we trade before the draft and can we trade these picks at all? I didn't think we could do either.

We can trade before the draft for sure, I did last year.

I know we can't trade CB picks in-season but I think they're fair game now. Eephus posted on it at some point last year, will see if I can find it.

 
Last year Kraft asked about trading a draft pick in-season and Eephus responded with this:

I think that's a bad precedent.  We've historically had some owner turnover and I wouldn't want to see an owner mortgage their future and then bail on the league.

I'd be OK if someone trades a pick for a player next February but not right now.
