Serious Biz Dynasty Year 17 - Plenty of talent on the come (5 Viewers)

If Hoos quits, which he isn't gonna do, I say we give his team to some high school chick from Rhode Island who knows nothing about baseball.

2017 dispersal draft vote update

Fer:  Eephus, Dr Detroit, Spartans, HellToupee, pik95, greedygoat, Kraft, RnR

Agin:  Hoos (!!!)

Abstain:  Cheese

Haven't replied:  NV, Arsenal, rodg12

Other proposals up for debate

  1. SV+HLD instead of SV
  2. Weekly lineups
  3. Restricting in-season pickups of amateur/inon-database players

We've made it through nine years without official league bylaws but I'm going to suggest a 2/3rds majority is needed to approve rule changes.  If everybody votes, 4 no votes would be enough to block a proposed change.

Dispersal has 10 total votes w/ 1 against so it's happening unless somebody changes their mind.

Weekly lineups already has 4 opposed so it's pretty much dead

SV + HLD and in-season transaction restrictions are still on the ballot.

ETA:  if anybody disagrees w/ 2/3rds voting, feel free to suggest an alternative.

Vote on the majority needed to pass a vote?

No on all 3.

I could be open to both 1 and 2 if we also added some flexibility in terms of the number of P spots available in the lineup.

That's four noes on SV+HLD.  Both it and weekly lineups don't look like they'll reach 2/3rds.

Two are against changing in-season transactions so far (rodg12 and Sparty)

Hoos is still the only one opposed to 2017 dispersal.

Next steps:

See if defending champ Hoos is serious about leaving

See if Greedygoat's friend still works for CBS

Competitive balance draft

one round add/drop draft in reverse order of 2015 standings

waivers cycle using waivers order carried over from last year.

Open transactions (FCFS) for the remainder of the season

Spartans Rule is holding the funds again this year (I think)

STILL IN

Did we determine staying pat on the other rules besides adding the dispersal draft?  We going to go reverse standings for that order?

These were the two dispersal proposals from last year.

I'll throw out my pre-season dispersal proposal again.

  • Protect 22 players (a full complement of starters)
  • 2 round dispersal draft in reverse order (non-snake) of season standings - 26 total picks
  • A team can only lose 3 players in the draft so the worst case is a team loses their 23rd-25th best players, but they can pick up somebody else's 23rd and 24th best.
  • A team may draft their own unprotected player
  • Teams that lose more players than they pick-up get an extra compensation pick at the end of the pre-season add/drop draft.
It'll redistribute the wealth a little while preserving the continuity of franchises

I thought a protect 30 and do a seven round dispersal would be cool.  Then the top teams protect their system but we still have a good deal of interaction.

But this proposal is good also, I just think some sort of draft every year keeps the interest as high as possible.

I'm indifferent regarding which proposal we go with, I'm definitely for some sort of annual draft though.

Do we have a final vote count for not allowing amateurs to be picked up in season?

We didn't get enough veto votes to reject the in-season amateur transaction ban so I guess it's still on the table.

Let's confirm everybody is still in for 2017 before finalizing rules.

Spartans Rule said:
I'm in again.

I never did get money from NV or PIK. I also never paid Cheese, but he just won $50 so that can be a roll-in for this year if he's back.
I'm in and totally fine with rolling winnings if I hadn't said so. Thanks for remembering

Let's see if everybody else is still in.

If someone else leaves we'll pool the teams in a redraft for the new teams like we've done before.

If only Hoos is bailing, we'll have to consider other options including contraction to 12 teams.

I'm for expanding  up to 14 or contacting to 12. Alternatively staying at 13 works for me also. Don't think 11 would work and 15 might make it a tad too thin.

I suxor.  Where and how much?  I'm in of course.  I also like picking up my amateurs mid season fwiw.

Everybody has checked in except @Doctor Detroit but I assume he's in for 2017.

Options:

1. Contracting to twelve teams.  Disperse Hoos' talent in a two round snake in reverse order of standings.

1a.  Contracting to twelve teams and do something else w/ the orphans

2. Recruit new owner and stay at thirteen.

I'm still up for the competitive balance draft in addition to whatever we decide wrt. Team Hoos otherwise all this drama was for nothing but first things first.

The only other business that needs to be decided is the in-season amateur ban.
