WR Odell Beckham, Jr., BAL (4 Viewers)

Will Odell Beckham Jr. play this week on Monday Night Football in Rams-49ers?

Friday update: Odell Beckham Jr. will get in some practice time on Friday after he passes his physical, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The team doesn’t expect him to play this week, but are open to it if it works out that way

The Los Angeles Rams continued adding to their “super team” on Thursday with the signing of free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. The Browns released OBJ on Monday, and after nobody placed a waiver claim on Tuesday, he was free to sign anywhere. The Rams and Packers were the reported finalists and he settled on LA.

Beckham has dealt with some injuries but is generally in good shape to play. The Rams get an extra day of prep this week as they travel north to face the San Francisco 49erson Monday Night Football to close out Week 10. Is that enough time for OBJ to play in the game?

Jordan Schultz tweeted after word of the signing that OBJ “hopes and plans” to play on Monday against the 49ers. He will likely arrive in LA on Thursday to finalize the signing and get his physical completed. The Rams have their first official practice of game week on Thursday, but likely will be completed by the time OBJ is signed and checked out. We’ll then see what happens on Friday for their second practice. If he is able to get in a limited workout, that only increases his chances of playing.

Even if OBJ does not know much of the playbook by Monday, they likely could put together a package of plays for him. If he is active, we likely would not see him play starter-level snaps, but a 10-20 snap limit would not be surprising. Sean McVay will likely meet with the media on Saturday as the team closes things out and we’ll get a better handle then on OBJ’s status for Monday.

If he is available who would start him this week ? Quite a dart throw it being a monday night game. I think some will.

Did Woods choose to practice with a torn ACL on Friday to be part of this conspiracy theory?

Edit:  somehow I quoted the wrong post

Well, that settles it....I'm firing him up Monday night.

His last chance for relevance, Woods shelved, a strong-armed QB, under the big lights, and nat'l audience.

What could possibly go wrong?

Appearing on FOX NFL Sunday, Jay Glazer said Odell Beckham is hoping to stay with the Rams past the 2021 season.

Part of the reason OBJ chose to sign with the Rams was his ability to make money "off the field" in the L.A. market. Signed for just $1.25 million for the remainder of this season, Beckham took less to go to the Rams in hopes of winning a Super Bowl and furthering his brand away from the gridiron. With Robert Woods now out with a torn ACL and turning 30 next offseason, there could be a path for Beckham to remain in L.A. past this season. Los Angeles is obviously a big selling point to free agents, in both football and off-the-field terms.

Odell Beckham is active for Week 10 against the 49ers Monday night.

Von Miller (ankle) is also active after he was given the green light earlier in the day despite the questionable tag. OBJ was just signed four days ago but is expected to have a package of plays in for him. The Rams badly need him with Robert Woods done for the year with a torn ACL. Inactive for the Rams are Woods, QB Bryce Perkins, CB Dont'e Deayon, OLB Chris Garrett, OL Alaric Jackson, OL Tremayne Anchrum, and TE Brycen Hopkins.

Monday Night Football picks and prop bets: Are the 49ers playing for Kyle Shanahan's job vs. the Rams?

Excerpt:

Odell Beckham Jr. OVER 34.5 receiving yards. This is a total hunch. It feels as though Sean McVay will break in his new wideout similar to how Tom Brady was used in his debuts with the Patriots and Buccaneers. Stafford isn’t quite the cheerleader Tom Brady is for his veteran former All-Pro, but given the response the LA receiving room gave OBJ when he was making his free agency decision it seems reasonable they’d be OK with him taking a decent target share in game one.

Beckham will get his targets over a handful of plays. Will that be enough to get to 35 receiving yards? Sure, why not?

Odell Beckham caught 2-of-3 targets for 18 yards in the Rams' Week 10 loss to the 49ers.

Beckham got the start for the Rams in his debut with the team after signing four days ago, and he caught a five-yard pass on the first play of the game. Later on the drive, Matthew Stafford tried to hit OBJ on a deep shot, but it was a stupid decision thrown into double-coverage and picked off. OBJ ended up playing just 13 snaps total on the night and clearly didn't yet know the playbook. He now gets the Rams' bye to study up and should play a much bigger role the rest of the way in the absence of Robert Woods. OBJ should be viewed as an upside WR2 going forward.

Speaking Tuesday, Rams coach Sean McVay said the process of incorporating WR Odell Beckham is a "work in progress."

Beckham played sparingly after signing with the Rams ahead of Week 10, hauling in 2-of-3 targets for 18 yards. The Rams' bye in Week 11 certainly gave Beckham some time to learn the playbook, but it sounds like the veteran wideout is still getting the hang of the offense. Once he's fully up to speed, he'll form a dangerous duo alongside Cooper Kupp, and he could return WR2 value in fantasy with Robert Woods out for the rest of the season. He's a volatile option in the meantime while he gets familiar with the system.

Odell Beckham caught 5-of-10 targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in the Rams' Week 12 loss to the Packers.

Playing starters' snaps for the first time since signing with LA a few weeks ago, Beckham fought through some sort of lower back injury to catch a 54-yard touchdown in the second half. OBJ blew past the Green Bay secondary and cruised into the end zone for the score. His ten targets tied Cooper Kupp for the team lead (Van Jefferson saw nine targets). Overall, it was encouraging usage for Beckham in his first game as a main part of the team's three-wideout sets. He could make good on low-end WR2 production in Week 13 against the Jaguars' burnable secondary.

did you watch the game?  most of the 5 balls were uncatchable

Its really hard to tell from the broadcast angle, but Stafford and him were not on the same page. Given that:

(a) OBJ is not a sharp route runner

(b) At least run route he clearly ran in the wrong area/depth and

(c) Just watching him play...

I think most of that is on OBJ.

Odell Beckham (hip) did not practice Wednesday.

OBJ is dealing with a hip pointer after playing 98% of the snaps in his second game with the Rams last week in Green Bay. Beckham went 5-81-1 on 10 targets. Coach Sean McVay expects Beckham to play Week 13 against the Jaguars.

Odell Beckham (hip) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice.

This could be part of a rep management routine, but it is a most unideal development. Now not even a "limited/questionable" tag on Friday would make it a guarantee that Beckham will suit up against the Jaguars, though we have yet to hear real concern from the Rams. It is also possible they make a business decision to hold him out against one of the worst teams in football. Stay abreast of the situation if you had been planning to fire Beckham up as a WR2/3. Even if OBJ plays, his latest injury could tip the Rams receiving rankings in Van Jefferson's favor.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Odell Beckham's (hip) Week 13 availability is "up in the air."

Rapoport added that OBJ's hip injury is not "considered a major issue," though it could sideline him this week against Jacksonville. Beckham struggled with the injury throughout the Rams' Week 12 loss to the Packers. He seemed to have landed awkwardly on his hip and stayed down for several moments before limping back to the LA sideline. He battled through the pain and caught a 54-yard touchdown from Matthew Stafford -- one of his 10 targets in his first game as a full-time player in LA's offense. Van Jefferson would figure to see more targets if OBJ is out against the Jags, and Ben Skowronek could join the team's three-receiver sets. Against a hapless Jaguars team, the Rams might rest OBJ ahead of their Week 14 game against division rival Arizona.

Odell Beckham (hip, questionable) said he expects to play Week 13 against the Jaguars.

Coach Sean McVay has already said he would be "surprised" if Beckham is not ready to play. Beckham graduated to a nearly every-down role last week, and it does not appear his injury is a major concern. He will be a boom-or-bust WR3 in a great matchup.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Odell Beckham (hip) is expected to play in Week 13 against the Jaguars.

Rapsheet added that Beckham "should be a bigger part of the offense," according to his source. If that's true, the hip issue is truly a non-factor. Beckham already played on all but one of the Rams' snaps and saw 10 targets last week so Sean McVay finding a way to give him a larger role would be impressive. After posting 81 yards and his first touchdown of the year last week, Beckham enters Week 13 on the WR2/3 borderline.

Odell Beckham caught 6-of-7 targets for 77 yards and one touchdown in the Rams' Week 14 win over the Cardinals.

OBJ has target counts of 5, 10, and 7 in his last three games with the Rams after playing very sparingly in his L.A. debut. He's also scored in three straight contests, finding pay dirt from two yards out in this one on a quick slant. Beckham is becoming more comfortable in coach Sean McVay's offense by the week and is showing chemistry with Matthew Stafford, especially in the red zone, scoring on a fade last week. Beckham's seven targets were well behind Cooper Kupp's 15, but OBJ still saw four more than the next closest teammate. OBJ will be a WR2 next week against Seattle.

NBC Sports Edge:

Rams placed Odell Beckham on the reserve/COVID list.

Not only did the organization close their training facility and enter intensive protocols on Tuesday, Beckham joined the list of players Los Angeles placed on their COVID list over the last 72 hours. It's unclear how many more will follow him and (likely) be sidelined for Sunday's divisional matchup against Seattle. Ben Skowronek will start for Beckham if the former survives the team's COVID cluster in the coming days.
