I am watching every Bond movie: please kill me (1 Viewer)

Rik Van Nutter who was Felix Leiter in Thunderball, was married at the time to Swiss actress Anita Ekberg who died yesterday. She was so sexy back in the day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3o15UTomYsc

Loved her accent
When I saw that announcement, my first thought was that Ekberg was surely a bond girl. It turns out she was considered for the Holly Ryder role which eventually went to Ursula Andress, one of the best.

If Ekberg had been cast as Holly Goodhead in Moonraker, she would have been a more age-appropriate partner for the Rodge.

Lois Chiles was 32 when she made Moonraker. That's practically ancient by Hollywood standards :)

ABC re-edited On Her Majesty's Secret Service for its initial network broadcast. The ABC cut started with the ski chase from Blofeld's laboratory and added a voiceover from a 007 who didn't sound much like George Lazenby who narrated the backstory in flashback.. More info here including a clip of the opening 10 minutes.

52 year old Moore was still old enough to be her rodgefather.

George Clooney laughs at only a 20-year age difference.

Another interesting fact about the Bond films on television is that up until "Tomorrow Never Dies" they were first on tv in the U.S before they were in the U.K.

I liked Dalton in the role. He had the physicality and presence to play it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Craig said Dalton influenced him with his portrayal. I think Craig perfected what Dalton was going for.
Actually as I recall Craig has said Connery was his main influence. And Connery really seems to love what Craig is doing with the character. Connery called Moore's Bond a parody.
Agree with Connery about that. As far as what Craig said I don't doubt Connery was an influence. He has to be for everyone who plays the role. But I think much of what Craig is doing is what Dalton was going for. I definitely could be wrong but I could see Craig possibly watching those films and seeing things Dalton did that he could possibly do better (which I think he has). It wouldn't have been very popular if Craig said when he took the role that Dalton had influenced him. :) Not like many Bond fans were crazy about Dalton.
I never got the Dalton dislike personally. And yeah I wouldn't be surprised if he looked at what Dalton was going for and took parts.

I have also read that Craig wants to get some of the humor back into the series. Not to Mooresian levels but more than what they have had so far.
I thought Skyfall was a good step back in the humor direction. Bond has always been a fun campy series to me so Craig's first two films felt off (although at least CR was a good action movie - I couldn't stand QoS on any level).

"Time for another Bond movie!!"

Oh God no...come on...tonight? I'm watching my show.

"Yea this one is supposed to be really good"

You say that about alllllll of them (ed: she's not lying here)

This all went on as she watched "Little People: LA"......I won.

They really shoulda replace Moneypenny at this point. Getting kind of gross watching her drool over Bond.

As the last was showering and Bond was standing there licking his chops, she said "how can one man be this horny."

I'm not sure if that's an indictment on me or Bond.

Not to worry. I'm sure Bond has a 5 gallon tub of lube stashed on him (probably where he keeps his suction cups and grappling hooks).

Which one had the guy with diamonds in his face? That thing was absolute dreck...could there possibly be one worse than that one?

If so...I need to queue it up just because I'm a glutton for punishment and refuse to believe there's any in this series worse than that pile of elephant excrement.

If you make it through "The Living Daylights" you are a better man than me.
I like that one but feel that way about the last 2 Moore and Brosnan films.
He has to make it through the last hour of The Man with the Golden Gun first. That's about as bad as 007 gets.

The people making the Bond films literally lost the plot after The Lazenby Affair. The three movies that followed (DAF, LALD & TMWTGG) made very little sense. The plots were just excuses to string together chase scenes and side characters popped in and out with no rhyme or reason. I guess they figured the audience would be happy as long as they were give enough action. The first two of the movies were financially successful so maybe the filmmakers were right. The Man with Golden Gun continued with this formula but for some reason (budget?, shooting schedule?), the action was really toned down. The car jump, complete with slide whistle, is the only memorable bit from the movie. Other than that, it's probably the the most static and dull of the 007 movies. The storyline is extremely flimsy (especially in the second half) and there aren't any good supporting characters except for Scaramanga.

I think they spent most of their time trying to figure out how to assemble that gun.

That's it...wow. I put it out of my memory...so very awful. I'm physically angry for having seen that movie.

Was it really that bad? I thought it was better then The World is Not Enough....

Brosnan best to worst: Goldeneye, Die Another Day, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World is Not Enough

I may have to jump into a marathon as well. I remember liking Octo##### and a View to a Kill, but I only 10 or so. Guess the nostalgia gets me.

Wait, Michael Bay directed Bond films??

Epix Movie Channel is doing a similar marathon. They have been playing 2 Bonds each nite for the last couple nite. Not sure how long it will go. They aren't in order, last nite they did YOu Only Live Twice and A View to a Kill.

Tonite they are doing Skyfall (10:00 eastern) and From Russia with Love (12:30e).

I will throw out the last hour of Moonraker as competition.
