Does it? She has to get a restraining order for one of them stalking a teenager and others is how I read it.

no, she and a teenager were both being stalked.   but there's crazy in their lives.  the door is wide open.

plus, why assume the women I'm attracted to start out crazy?   I figure I just bring it out of them.

I think they just feel like it's okay to be crazy around you.  Because you're a decent fellow.  Crazy people love that.

Being a plaintiff's lawyer helps.  At least when you're doing some winning.
I'm a on the plaintiff's side 90% of the time, but my cases are all about pushing money from one set of people I don't care about to another set of people I don't care about.

Gotcha.  I'm usually representing people who, if they lose, will be homeless, seriously disabled, or suicidal.  So the wins are a pretty big high.

Losses are rough.

I've only lost once in my career, and that was getting hometowned defending a personal injury case in Nevada.  The guy I was up against had a two-digit bar number and the arbitrator was his former partner and the court said there wasn't a conflict.

I don't think I'm suited to cases where I'm emotionally involved.  I love the strategy and trial work, but it's completely draining.  I can't imagine what it would be like if I was personally invested.

Yeah, I know.  I love appellate work for that reason, but there's something about putting a settlement or judgment check in someone's hand that saves his/her whole life.  You get addicted.

How often do you turn people away that you think are professional plaintiffs or just trying to take advantage of the system by getting a quick settlement?

I inform all of my prospective clients that there's no such thing as a "quick settlement" for my firm.  If I take your case I am expecting a multi-year slog through the legal system ending in either a trial or the best settlement I can get them.  That weeds several out on their own. But I turn down people once or twice a month who I just can't represent for one reason or another.

Lead partner at my firm has a number of "repeat offenders" as he calls them who he takes their cases just because they send him other business.

You need to invest in some spring scarves, stat.

I am thinking something in linen, or maybe a classy synthetic like rayon.

Problem with working from home:  It's 1:42.  I've had a long week.  I have a few hours more work to do, but I'd also like to have a vodka soda with lime, and I have the ingredients up one flight of stairs.

So the stairs are the problem?

one of the parents from our oldest's former school (it was a tight and fun group) is having a bday party tonight.

part deux of this info is that we were informed by divorced friend that both parts of this couple (still together) are very active on one of the more scandalous dating sites looking for "action".

exhibit c- their middle-school aged daughter has been going to counseling for porn addiction.

summation: my wife doesn't want to go, but I probably should... right?

If this were us, I would be the one who didn't want to go and Wife2.0 would force us to. She loves to observe crazy and dysfunction up close. It is like going to the zoo for her.

You know that this is entirely dependent on what the wife looks like.   pics, or at least a description comparing her to her closest celebrity lookalike.
