I knew it has to be like one of 3 states. Bulls-eye.
Yeah. It's obnoxious. Clearly summary execution is in order for these people. I don't get why they are messing around with just arrest warrants and $500 fines. My daughter just graduated last week, and they also asked the audience to hold applause and not to yell during the ceremony. Of course most people hooted and hollered, and a couple of idiots brought cowbells. I found it annoying, and some names were not heard due to the previous person's family yelling. :getoffmylawn:
Don't do the crime if you can't do the time“I can understand they can escort me out of the graduation, but to say they are going to put me in jail for it,” Miller said. “What else are they allowed to do?”
Or just make them sit through another graduation. As someone who has sat through at least 30 graduations I feel this is too lenient. Public floggings would suffice.
Might run into 8th Amendment problems as that is pretty clearly cruel and unusual.Or just make them sit through another graduation. As someone who has sat through at least 30 graduations I feel this is too lenient. Public floggings would suffice.
Asking people to hold applause is one of the stupidest things around. I completely agree.Individual celebrations have gotten out of hand. They last too long and it's rude to the next graduate. They also extend an already too long of a ceremony.
Its friggin HS! Sorry for not being PC but unless child is disabled there is no reason for the yelling I've heard. Not surprisingly this has filtered down to middle school. So you are saying that the family is so stunned that their precious snowflake has survived and been put thru that they have to celebrate like idiots? This middle school teacher's theory on graduations:Its friggin HS! The more hooting and hollering there is for a kid, the more of a pain in the ### the kid was at school.

No doubt about any of what you said, but arrest warrants for "disturbing the peace"? Beyond ludicrous. Its friggin HS! No. That's what vigilante justice is for. Not a police matterNext thing you know they will be arresting people for talking too loud in movie theatres.
What about for tuna eaters? Can we call the police on them? No. That's what vigilante justice is for. Not a police matterNext thing you know they will be arresting people for talking too loud in movie theatres.

Only thing I can think of is that their applause/cheering extended on into other kids' name announcements. That's all I've got...So.... why aren't you allowed to cheer for your kids at these things as they walk across the stage anymore?
Perhaps they should just make the announcements louder then. Speakers that go to 11.Only thing I can think of is that their applause/cheering extended on into other kids' name announcements. I am sure it did become a bit of one-upsmanship at these things. Mostly I bet it was some PC lameness about not wanting little Susie to feel bad because she had only 3 people cheering and little Jenny had 20.Sinrman said:Only thing I can think of is that their applause/cheering extended on into other kids' name announcements. But the superintendent axed them not to cheer.Cjw_55106 said:The video was much more tame than I expected. Not much to see here.
