True to a point, but K appear to me to be much less predictable than say top RB's or WR's or QB's in my opinion. All of FF is a crapshoot at predictng weekly outcomes. That’s the nature of the beast.
Made worse by the fact that predicting kickers is closer to projecting “team defense” than to individual position players. Have to consider offensive skill, red zone efficiency, coaching tendencies...
Still possible to make reasonable predictions across a full season as to which kickers will be better, which to avoid, and expect to be as accurate as predicting RBs. (Remember how every year we get stories of the 4-6 projected top RBs who drop precipiously out of the top 10 each year?)

True - I guess I'm coming at it from a streamer game by game perspective. You're probably right on an overall seasonal basis, I've been trying to stream and striking out a lot lately. Thanks for your info.Preseason predicted (current ppg ranking)

I know what you mean. I've been streaming TE and have managed to turn Burton's TE7 standing into TE15-20 by benching him the wrong weeks. If you had asked to to guess his ranking w/o looking it up, I would have said around TE14-16.True - I guess I'm coming at it from a streamer game by game perspective. I freaking stuck with Myers. He's the #1 scoring kicker in my league I told myself. You don't bench #1. I hate kickers so much. I still made the super bowl though, so now what... Myers? Crosby? Someone actually dropped the Chiefs guy. Him? HELP!Re: Jason Myers
Jason Myers the first Jets kicker to miss multiple PATs since John Hall on Dec. 12, 1999. Myers has now missed more extra points this season (3) than field goals (2). Myers is a career 87% kicker on extra points and a career 85% kicker on field goals.

I know I didn't.Sorry for the delay folks - I caught a bad chest cold and it’s been kicking my butt.
i will figure out who won the kicker contest as soon as my head stops pounding & I can look at a computer screen.
Pick one and stick with him. I got cute and subbed in Parkey for Gould who I had used most of the year last week because he was ranked higher on FBG and that 9 point difference cost me a ticket to the championship.....such a crapshoot. Seriously feels like a dartboard would be as accurate as trying to predict weekly outcomes

Anyway, thanks for running the contests, and you may still have my address from one of last year’s victories. Glad you are feeling better too. On to offseason kicker research!

Cody Parkey went 3-of-4 on field goals in Chicago's 16-15, Wild Card loss to the Eagles on Sunday, missing a 43-yard game-winning field goal at the end of the fourth quarter.
Parkey had a tumultuous first season in Chicago, hitting the uprights four times in Week 10 against the Lions, again in Week 17, and finally hit the upright andcrossbar on the same kick against Philly with the Bears trailing by one point with five seconds remaining in the contest. On the year, Parkey went 26-of-34 on field goals and 42-of-45 on extra points. That's not goo enough. Signed to a four-year deal, Parkey is very likely to be cut in the offseason after this latest blunder.

ESPN's Vaughn McClure reports the Bucs "will have interest" in free agent K Matt Bryant.
Bryant is just waiting for his formal release after announcing on Wednesday that the Falcons were cutting him. New Bucs STs coordinator Keith Armstrong was Bryant's special teams coach in Atlanta for the entirety of his 10 seasons with the Falcons. Bryant kicked for the Bucs from 2005-2008. The Bucs have long been looking for a steadying presence at kicker.

Giorgio Tavecchio is expected to be the Falcons' kicker in 2019.
The Falcons released longtime K Matt Bryant on Wednesday. Tavecchio (28) is 15 years younger than Bryant and costs a fraction of what Bryant was scheduled to make. Bryant remains one of the best when healthy, but Tavecchio was a fine replacement for three games Bryant missed this past season, making all five of his field goals and eight PATs. He'll be a top fantasy kicker.

Bucs signed K Phillip Andersen.
Danish, Andersen arrives via the German Football League's Berlin Eagles. Andersen impressed the Bucs with a workout during Senior Bowl week. He is currently the only kicker on the Bucs' 90-man roster. It's an interesting story, though one that is unlikely to end with Andersen securing 2019 kicking duties. That being said, coach Bruce Arians has always been open to outside-the-box developments. Andersen's whole story can be found at the link.

ESPN's Nick Wagoner believes Robbie Gould will be franchise tagged if he and the 49ers cannot reach a long-term deal.
Gould has converted 96 percent of his field goal attempts during his two seasons in San Francisco, and the 49ers are not going to let that kind of consistency at an inconsistent position walk out the door. If he is tagged, Gould will be scheduled to make around $5 million in 2019.

According to Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston, the Patriots have yet to approach impending free agent K Stephen Gostkowski about using the franchise tag.
Gostkowski has been one of the league's most reliable kickers throughout his 13-year run in Foxboro, though the 35-year-old wasn't quite as sharp in 2018, converting just 84.4 percent of his field goal attempts compared to 92.5 the year before. It's hard to imagine the Pats letting Stevie G hit the market, though with the franchise tag deadline set for 4 PM ET on Tuesday, it's beginning to look like a real possibility. If the Patriots choose to use it, Gostkowski would earn a $5 million salary under the tag. The last time New England used the tag was also on Gostkowski back in 2015.

Seahawks agreed to terms with K Jason Myers, formerly of the Jets, on a four-year contract.
Myers spent last summer with the Seahawks before being cut in August. He latched on with the Jets and beat out Taylor Bertolet for the job. Myers went on to hit 33-of-36 field goals and 30-of-33 extra points en route to a Pro Bowl selection. His 91.7% success rate on field goals is nearly seven percentage points higher than his career average. Myers will replaces Sebastian Janikowski in Seattle and be paid as one of the league's premier kickers.

Saints re-signed K Wil Lutz to a five-year contract.
Lutz signed with the Saints in September 2016 after failing to overtake legendary Justin Tucker in Baltimore that summer as a rookie UDFA. Ever since, Lutz has been New Orleans' ultra-reliable kicker, hitting 87-of-100 field goals and 148-of-153 PATs. After a shaky first season, Lutz has missed just two kicks from 50-plus yards out the last two years. Lutz was scheduled for restricted free agency this offseason.

Jets signed K Chandler Catanzaro, formerly of the Panthers.
Catanzaro spent his first three seasons in Arizona but has bounced around with the Jets, Bucs, and Panthers the last two seasons. He's going back to New York to replace Jason Myers. Catanzaro has nailed all five of his 50-plus-yard kicks the last two years but has struggled from close range and on extra points.

Vikings re-signed K Dan Bailey to a one-year, $1 million contract.
Once one of the most accurate kickers in the league, Bailey's decline continued last season as he converted just 21-of-28 field goal attempts including only 5-of-11 from 40 yards or more in 14 games with the Vikings. It would not be a surprise if the Vikings brought in some competition.

NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports the 49ers are showing interest in free agent K Stephen Gostkowski.
The 49ers put the franchise tag on Robbie Gould, but negotiations do not seem to be going well. According to Maiocco, Gould wanted to test the open market and was interested in returning to Chicago, where he played for 11 seasons. The Patriots decided against tagging Gostkowski, and the two sides have reportedly made little progress in contract talks.

49ers K Robbie Gould was absent from the first day of the offseason program.
Gould has remained steadfast in the fact he doesn't want to sign and play on San Francisco's designated one-year franchise tender. There's also indications he isn’t interested in signing a long-term deal with the team before the July 15 deadline. The Niners have reportedly considered rescinding Gould’s franchise tag, as evidenced by bringing in Pats K Stephen Gostkowski before he re-signed with New England. As it stands, 26-year-old backup kicker Jonathan Brown will handle those duties at the team's offseason program.

Bucs selected Utah K Matt Gay with the No. 145 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
It has been only three years since the Bucs infamously used the No. 59 overall pick on Roberto Aguayo, but they have gone back to the kicker well. Gay (6’0/239) was primarily a high school soccer player before kicking two years for the Utes, making 86.2% of his career field goals with a particularly impressive 73% conversion rate on 40-plus-yard tries. Widely built a la Sebastian Janikowski, Gay also turned 71% of his kickoffs into touchbacks last season. Gay’s calling card is his sheer leg strength, and statistically his accuracy is also a strength.

Browns selected Oklahoma K Austin Seibert with the No. 170 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Seibert (5’9/212) spent all four years as the Sooners’ kicker, punter, and kickoff specialist, drilling 79.7% of his career field goal tries and 98.4% of his PATs. Seibert’s longest field goal spanned just 42 yards in 2018, however, and he never made a kick longer than 51 yards in college.

I wonder if LevBell was tempted to call Gould up, snicker a few times, and then explain to Gould that he has NO bargaining position. NONE.
Colts signed undrafted North Texas K Cole Hedlund.
Hedlund made 51-of-54 extra points and 19-of-22 field goals as a senior at North Texas. The Giants also signed DT Sterling Shippy, CB Shakial Taylor, and LB Tre Thomas after rookie tryouts. To make room, the Colts waived K Clayton Hatfield, CB Chris Rayford, and DE Anthony Winbush.

Bears acquired K Eddy Pineiro from the Raiders in exchange for a 2021 seventh-round pick.
Pineiro has to be on Chicago's active roster for five games in order for the Raiders to reap the rewards of Chicago's seventh-rounder two years from now. The former Florida Gator was notably 3-for-3 in his lone preseason game for Oakland before a groin injury sent him to injured reserve in September. The Bears now have Elliott Fry, Chris Blewitt, and Pineiro (yes, three kickers) on their roster.

The Steelers pushed back K Chris Boswell's $2 million roster bonus until after the preseason.
Boswell was initially to be paid the $2 million back in March, but the Steelers want to see him win the job this summer before handing him the paycheck. Boswell was awful last season, making just 65% of his field goals and missing five PATs. "Matthew Wright" is Boswell's current competition.
