bagger 3,362
It's not even his leadership or whatever. He does not use the best weapons he has. It's horrific game planning. When the jets were running loose blitzing yesterday there were no misdirections or screens, nothing other than some play action that nobody bought since they never established the run to be a threat and Tannehill just dropping back and doing the duck and chuck.

Pretty sure he was also a blocking specialist to Shockey/Witten. He looked very raw at his presser but I can't help think that maybe Parcells put had something to do with this. At the very least he's not a frail looking old dood or one of the coordinators that are clearly adding to the problems. Not saying being physically imposing is the end all be all but I feel like Suh has been able to step (lol) all over whatever coaches he wants to. He's clearly a pretty unstable individual (said he's not emotional yesterday... Campbell has served as Miami’s tight ends coach for the past five seasons. He originally joined the Dolphins prior to the 2010 season as a coaching intern/offense. Campbell joined the Dolphins after 11 years of playing experience with the New York Giants (1999-2002), Dallas Cowboys (2003-05), Detroit Lions (2006-08) and New Orleans Saints (2009). A third-round selection of the Giants in the 1999 NFL draft, the former tight end appeared in a total of 114 games with 75 starts and caught 91 passes for 934 yards and 11 touchdowns. Campbell attended Texas A&M where he was a four-year letterwinner and agricultural development major.http://www.miamidolphins.com/news/press-releases/article-1/PRESS-RELEASE-Dolphins-Name-Dan-Campbell-Interim-Head-Coach-/076586fb-9432-4702-a487-155ada80254c Edited October 5, 2015 by Bri

He's clearly a pretty unstable individual (said he's not emotional yesterday... Sure buddy, way to kick Fitzpatrick in the head not being emotional) and may respond better to someone his physical equivilant. He's certainly a Parcells disciple.Years ago Parcells had Maurice Carthon as running game coordinator and Sean Payton as passing game coordinator.IIRC he met back up with both of them later in his career but...unsure about Carthon's time in DET.He was a meh player but tough. Played FB, Hback, TE. A coach's boy for sure. Probably signed more for hustle and work ethic around others than ability.I would take a real strong guess this is I'm fed up, who is a no-nonsense guy? OK I want to chat with him. Like him, hired.I doubt he has the job in 2016.Parcells always used the phrase "too cute" and myself and others use it all the time. Best guess, Campbell will remove the Fins plays that are too cute. IDK if you guys can recall but Payton was under Fassell with the Gmen, not Parcells. He was a top OC and also a bad one....when he got too cute. Obviously he went on to figure out what plays were a bit much and which weren't.Assuming anything like Carthon, anything like Parcells, he will have no fear in pulling those that don't produce. Today the 2nd big story is that the PS CBs have been intercepting Tannehill often and got too happy about it. Tannehill got on them and...coach asked them to tone it down. I would figure Campbell says "shush" to them but keep at it and tells Tannehill 'tough, get it done.' Philbin didn't shut down drama like this. Campbell surely will.Suh will probably have a problem if he acts out. I think that incident didn't bode well for Philbin too.I really think he's a restore order guy.Interim coaches don't instill new Os and Ds and have this big elaborate change people are maybe hoping for. Bri 1,900
ESPN DAVIE, Fla. – New Miami Dolphins interim head coach Dan Campbell exuded intensity and energy Monday afternoon. These are two qualities the Dolphins (1-3) severely lacked in their first four games.“We have enough to win,” Campbell said. “We have to change the culture. I have to change the culture, and that’s what I intend to do.”Campbell intends to turn around the Dolphins by holding tougher, more intense practices and coaching more aggressively on game days. Although Campbell said he has the utmost respect for former head coach Joe Philbin, Campbell explained that he will do things much differently and there wasn’t enough competition during Miami’s preparation. The Dolphins have looked mostly listless and uninspired on the field this season. Philbin, who was 24-28 in four seasons, also lost eight of his last 12 games dating to last season. Players were increasingly growing unhappy with the results.“I think it was something that needed to be done,” Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said on the conference call with the Miami media. “I believe in our roster and I believe in this football team. ... It’s been four games. I haven’t seen a lot of improvement. I see the same old, same old.”Ross added that Campbell is “certainly” a candidate for Miami's permanent head coaching job in 2016. This will be a 12-game tryout, which is a good sample size for Campbell. The former tight end played a decade in the NFL and said his biggest strength is understanding people and getting the best out of his players.“I feel like I relate to players,” Ross said. “I feel like I’m someone who understands them." Bri 1,900
USAToday-Considering the Dolphins have a bye week followed by games against two less-talented teams – at Tennessee, then against Houston at home – there’s a decent chance they’ll get back to .500 before their next division game on a short week Oct. 29 at New England. Raiderfan32904 470
From a fantasy standpoint, I like what the new intirim HC Dan Campbell is preaching. Says that the team needs to get pushed, and insinuated that Philbin was too soft, too conservative in his practices. Was not a good sign when the practice squad was picking Tannehill's passes, and some of the regulars were joking about them "enjoying their practice squad money". But the bottom line is the Phins shelling out over $60 million guaranteed for Ndamukong Suh and getting no pressure on the QB. Campbell for his part says he wants to be more aggressive than the previous regime. So I remain hopeful that my Dolphins DST I had such high hopes for will begin to pay off after the bye week.
