Faust 5,000
Quote Impending free agent Jordan Howard "hopes" to be back with the Eagles in 2020. Howard's contract year was derailed by a mid-season shoulder injury. The 25-year-old was active for the Eagles' final two games but took a backseat to Miles Sanders and Boston Scott, never seeing the field in Sunday's Wild Card loss to Seattle after playing a single snap in Week 17. Howard has rushed for 1,000 yards in two of his four NFL seasons but has never been a standout athlete and has largely underwhelmed as a receiver since debuting as a fifth-round pick in 2016. With Sanders in tow, it's doubtful the one-dimensional Howard will be wearing an Eagles uniform in 2020. SOURCE: Philadelphia Inquirer Jan 6, 2020, 9:25 AM ET
Faust 5,000
Quote Dolphins agreed to terms with RB Jordan Howard, formerly of the Eagles, on a two-year contract. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth "north" of $10 million. Howard is the definition of a replacement-level two-down grinder, but that was something the Dolphins desperately lacked in 2019 as Ryan Fitzpatrick "led" the team in rushing. Kalen Ballage was literally historically inefficient after Kenyan Drake was shipped off to the Cardinals. Howard will average between 4.0-4.5 yards per carry, catching 8-10 passes and operate as a touchdown-dependent FLEX option for what should be an improved Dolphins offense. Like I said in the Melvin Gordon thread, you get a vet RB grinder who can block and then you draft your RB of the future for 1-2 combo. Bonus points for the 2-year deal, really smart signing by Miami and not a bad destination for Howard. Surprised how aggressive Miami is in FA now. Faust 5,000
Quote Jordan Howard (shoulder) confirmed he's 100 percent healthy. Howard missed six of the final seven games and didn't play in the Wild Card round after a mid-season shoulder injury. The Dolphins weren't scared off by his 2019, giving him a two-year deal worth over $10 million. Howard enters the offseason as the favorite to lead Miami's backfield in touches, but it wouldn't be surprising if the Dolphins add competition through the draft. Respectfully, I disagree as well. There's years of discussion in this thread that gets lost if you do that, everyone knows to go to the last page for the most recent news in threads like this. And honestly it's a little disappointing that almost three months ago you ignored a request from a respected contributor like Faust, who (for free) keeps the board updated with tons of links, quotes, and news to contribute to the content here. I realize it's not a money-maker but it's still a valuable service. It's extremely easy for someone who is already around the boards for moderation reasons to just edit a thread title when reasonably requested imo. And I get it, you're probably worried that you'll be asked to do this over and over when he keeps switching teams etc. My suggestion would be to just rename it to "The Jordan Howard Thread" or "Jordan Howard--RB" to keep it generic but not misleading. Truly you'd be smart to confer limited administrative powers for things like this (absentee thread-starters) to Faust since he already keeps threads like this up to date. I'm sure he wouldn't abuse it. Edited June 11, 2020 by ConnSKINS26

Faust 5,000
Quote The Palm Beach Post's Joe Schad expects RB Jordan Howard to be the top choice for the Dolphins' goal line work this season. Schad hints at a "thunder and lightning" approach, with Howard offering the power and Matt Breida offering the speed. Ultimately, Schad predicts a backfield split, but does suggest a short term extension of one or two years might be a smart decision in regards to Breida's future. In the end, it is all up to Chan Gailey and the offense he brings to Miami - a total unknown since he has been out of the league since 2016. We know he has previously loved three and four receiver sets, and if the goal is to get speed into the open field, Breida is the best option. This is certainly a backfield to monitor due to its low price tag in fantasy drafts. SOURCE: Palm Beach Post Jun 29, 2020, 10:35 AM ET

bostonfred 29,979
Imwas sirprised to see that they said Chan gailey has had success with the running game because he has coached for some not great Bills, jets, dolphins and cowboys teams in the last decade. But he seems to do well with mediocre rb talent. He got 1000 yards rushing from fred jackson, CJ spiller, and chris ivory, and got 1000 total yards from both the 31 year old ghost of matt forte and Bilal Powell in the same aeason. Howard and breida are as good as anyone he's worked with in over a decade. Maybe there's some rb2 value here for leagues where that matters. I wouldn't want either as a starter but between Covid and injuries I can see teams starting these guys at some point

Faust 5,000
Quote Dolphins RB coach Eric Studesville said Jordan Howard's role "hasn't been defined yet." The Dolphins are moving to a more spread based offense under OC Chan Gailey, leaving some concern over Howard's role. He still projects to get red-zone snaps over Matt Breida, but Howard offers next to nothing in the pass game. It won't be surprising if Howard and Breida end up in a near-even timeshare. Faust 5,000
Quote ESPN's Cameron Wolf predicted Dolphins RB Jordan Howard would see 50 percent of the team's carries, with RB Matt Breida seeing 35 percent. It shouldn't come as a surprise. Wolf expects Breida to be Miami's passing down back, a potentially valuable role in an offense that could be chasing points often in 2020. Breida could line up at receiver too, per Wolf. It's a line we've heard about every pass-catching running back since the invention of the printing press. Both Miami running backs are being drafted in the seventh round right now. The blazing-fast Breida is the flashy pick, while Howard could end up with far more touches this year. The Frankman 3,281
Quote Jordan Howard returned and rushed for seven yards and a touchdown on eight carries in the Dolphins' Week 1 loss to the Patriots. The Dolphins announced Howard was questionable with a hamstring injury during the middle of the game but that apparently was a mistake. Howard played in both halves, but he lost snaps and touches to three different backs, although he did handle the Dolphins' goal-line carries. The Dolphins offense looked miserable against the Patriots in Week 1, so Howard remains a questionable RB3 even in standard-sized formats. The good news, if any, is that Matt Breida was barely involved. - Rotoworld Edited September 13, 2020 by The Frankman
The Frankman 3,281
Quote Jordan Howard handled five carries for four yards and a touchdown in Miami's Week 2 loss to Buffalo. Much like his role in Week 1, Howard came off the bench when the team was inside the five-yard line and not a second sooner. Even in scoring a touchdown, the 25-year-old plodder merely recorded 6.4 fantasy points. There is no need to keep him rostered moving forward. - Rotoworld Edited September 21, 2020 by The Frankman

Faust 5,000
Quote Jordan Howard rushed three times for one yard and a touchdown in the Dolphins' Week 3 win over the Jaguars. Lol. Howard is now "up to" 16 carries for 12 yards, somehow finding the end zone three times in three games. A nuisance for fantasy, though Myles Gaskin appeared to take control of the Dolphins' backfield tonight, out-touching Howard 27-3. Gaskin also handled the ball three times inside the Jaguars' five-yard line. Despite the scores, there is little reason to keep Howard around in 12-team leagues. The Frankman 3,281
Quote Dolphins waived RB Jordan Howard. Signed to a two-year deal with Miami this offseason, Howard's departure should still land Philadelphia a sixth-round compensatory pick under the new CBA. The 26-year-old finishes his Dolphins tenure with 28 carries for 33 yards and four rushing scores, averaging 1.17 yards per carry across five appearances. Any suitors looking to add Howard as depth would only be on the hook for $721,000 for the rest of this season. UDFA Salvon Ahmed played 44-of-58 snaps and handled 84% of the team's backfield carries without Howard on Sunday, presumably becoming the Dolphins' workhorse until Myles Gaskin (knee) returns. Expect Ahmed to headline John Daigle's Waiver Wire column on Tuesday. - Rotoworld Edited November 16, 2020 by The Frankman

Faust 5,000
Quote Eagles signed RB Jordan Howard, formerly of the Dolphins, to the practice squad. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport notes that Howard must pass all COVID-19 protocols before it's finalized.
