Debbie Wasserman-Schultz is not a popular person in progressive politics these days. She has, on more than one occasion, spit in the face of President Obama and every person who has voted for him in the past 8 years.
Case number one was when she removed limits on corporate PAC money that could be used by the DNC to fund election campaigns for national level Democrats. These were limits put in place by Obama himself. Case two was where she personally assisted Republicans in attacking Elizabeth Warren and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau – crippling its ability to regulate the ultra-predatory payday lending industry.
Now she is on step 3 of becoming the Democrat most hated by her own party, by rigging all national level elections for incumbent Democrats.
DEBBIE IS DOING THIS PURELY FOR SELFISH REASONS. SHE GOT AN UNEXPECTED PRIMARY CHALLENGER FOR HER SEAT IN CONGRESS, AND NOW SHE PASSED THIS “NEW RULE” TO SABOTAGE HER CHALLENGER.
Tim Canova, Wasserman-Schultz’s primary challenger received word from the DNC, which is controlled by Schultz, that he will not be getting ANY access to the DNC voter rolls. These voter rolls are supposed to be available to every Democrat running for a national level elected office, such as congressman, senator or president. Now they are only being made available to incumbent Democrats or ones that are challenging a sitting Republican for his or her seat.
This is absolutely outrageous because it is everything that the Democratic party stands against. Not only does it protect Democrats that might not be doing a proper job representing their constituents, but it is also a form of voter suppression that keeps voters looking for a change from being able to vote for it.
The manipulation of DNC data for her own personal agenda is nothing new to Schultz. Earlier in the year, she tried to sabotage the Bernie Sanders campaign by cutting off not only his access to the DNC master rolls but Sanders’ own data as well, which was illegal.
From the extremely unpopular scheduling of a meager amount of Democratic primary debates, despite voters asking for more, to these fast and loose abuses of power by her when it comes to her position as DNC chair, Wasserman-Schultz risks causing a massive splintering of progressive voters or disenfranchisement to where they simply stay home. It’s time for Wasserman-Schultz to be held accountable by the rest of the party, because she risks ruining it in the same manner Trump is doing to Republicans – which is something this nation cannot afford.
