Scirea finds Barnes with a long diagonal ball.  Barnes tries to take Djalma Santos to the end line as Puskas and the Charvik midfield storm into the box.  But Santos holds firm and dispossesses Barnes cleanly.  Santos plays a quick pass to Xabi Alonso who finds Neeskens racing ahead.  The counter is on!  Neeskens slips it to Rummenigge in the left channel who tries to center to a storming Kempes.  But it's just out of the Argentine's reach.  So close for Sparty on the counter!

I'd like to find the YFS chant from Chelsea the other day.  Multi-purpose, that one.

Never playing d&d is hurting my understanding of what is actually happening. But I love it

A speculative ball over the top from Hierro, but Rummenigge has a step on Neal.  Neal gives a cynical tug of the German's shirt and referee Pierluigi Collina shows Neal the yellow card.

Rivera receives the ball at the top of the box.  He plays toward Kempes, but Kempes dummies the ball.  Matthaus is steaming in behind, but Neuer is also off his line quickly.  It's a close race, but Matthaus is able to nick the ball to the ball to left in an attempt to round Neuer.  Neuer momentum carries him helplessly into Matthaus' trailing leg.  It's a PK!

The ball appears to go out of touch on the right hand side.  Rummenigge is ready to take the throw.  Wait, what is Neuer doing????  Rummenigge!!!!!!!

Foul at on the right side of the penalty circle.  Rivera is lining it up.  He gets it over the wall and on target, but Neuer is equal to the task and palms it over the bar.  The ensuing corner amounts to nothing ...

Sparty keeping possession, but it's all gone a bit stale in the final third for the moment.

Xabi Alonso with a quick restart.  They find Rummenigge who quickly centers the ball.  Neeskens is steaming in on an unprepared Scirea and Neuer has no chance.

Charv 1 - 3 Sparty

NOTE:  Charv should have had a savings roll on Sparty's second goal, so I gave him two rolls here.  Neither, unfortunately, were successful.

Puskas lays it off to Falcao with a cheeky backheel.  Falcao unleashes a cannon blast!  But it's off the post!  Falcao cannot believe it? Van der Sar never moved!  So close to a lifeline for Charvik!

Kempes turns Scirea and fires hard to the right corner.  But Neuer gets down brilliantly to turn it away with a strong hand.  It will be of little consolation for the German however, as the full time whistle is blown with Neuer still ruing his error on the second Rummenigge goal.

FT Charv 1 - 3 Sparty

Just landed sorry I missed this.

Props once again to RHE - the baddest dungeon master of them all.
