Otis fad diet thread — yoga, fasting, and kevzilla walking on🚶‍♂️ (6 Viewers)

And Ladies and Gentlemen, tonight we had a fi-f'n-esta around the neighborhood. We went for a Sunset ride around 7:00, rode along the river without a care, once the sun went down the BILATERAL SELF PROPULSION lights were flipped on and we had children running at us from every direction as the wheels spin around making trails 🚲  I actually had a little 7 year old blonde kid with his long surfer mop say "Those are so dope" as we rode along. 😂

And finally on the last loop back around the golf course on the way back, several adults driving around in golf carts offering us drinks and then finally a few of them all but accosted us and we stopped to share where we bought the lights for the tires and this sultry woman in scantily clad clothing just started walking down from the house, she made sure to get too close to the bike and lean over close to look at the wheels with her top blowing wide open as she leaned over, my wife actually laughed.

What a night ride, so much fun and we biked a solid 100 minutes, not sure of total miles but somewhere in the 17-18 range.

2,740, Let's GO!!!

Another beauty of a day.   Took a walk.  Rode the bike with the fam.  Played b ball with the kid.  Easy 120 minutes.   Between the good stuff, I started painting the dining room.  Two coats on the ceiling and will get the walls tomorrow.   I hate painting but since we are stuck home these days, it makes sense to get it over with.
Painting the walls is the best part.

My diet is still not good so I’m not where I need to be but I’m trying to get myself on track.   You have been smashing the health kick thing this year.   Corona has derailed many plans and it’s not surprising that any of us are not focused on our health when life is stressful and just freaking weird.   It’s time to start to get back on track.
I find if I can get breakfast down, whatever it is that works for you, I'm finding comfort in classic oatmeal and slowly eliminating wheat, it just does not digest well for me. Think about all the stuff with wheat in it including most beers. I do like my beer in moderation.

Get 1 of the 3 meals under control and something you can honestly eat without much prodding at least 4-5x a week. EZ was telling us about how he eats pretty much the same thing, I though to myself NO WAY!!! However I seem to be able to get breakfast about right and I'm finding lunch is starting to fall in place.

The eating is more important than the exercise IMO if you want to move the scales, it's hard for me to write that.

Thanks Gb. Yeah I was smashing.  Was working out and feeling great. Just a bad week, and a bad quarantine. I have a better week ahead I know it.

Try planning your next couple meals ahead of time so there's no mystery.

More folks have not done well hiding under the beds thru this, most of our friends/work associates are at least up 5-10 lbs. Over the last few weeks we have seen where many were out early and often to tonight where we saw very few others actually exercising. Over the weeks the crowds have dwindled more and more.

Day 29/100- Ditto

1072
I'm on Day 25/100, easy to track since i started on April 1st.

My wife missed a day yesterday and I think today is actually Day 1 all over again for her. Friday was a terrible work day for her, she was like a computer screen zombie,  I just couldn't bring myself to guilt her into going out for 20 Minutes.

Anyone seen @eaganwildcats lately?  Hope all is OK.
This evening I could be found on my couch crushing some chocolate animal crackers and peanut m & m’s. Work at a software company working on PPP - sleep is hard enough to come by let alone other good habits :)

That said, once Chet makes me rich with my Cydy shares I’ll have more time to bum around here and make racing bar charts.

How’s our hero @Otis?

I mentioned it rained all day yesterday so when I woke up this AM the skies were clear but with probable rain later today.  So I had a choice to make - a typical slow start to the day with my computer or netflix while I have my coffee or take a walk.  If I chose the slow start I wouldn't be able to get to 10K steps.   I really didn't want to go and went back and forth with myself several times.  I finally decided to GAF today and left my house for some exercise before the rains come and I am so glad I did it!  As of 11AM I have 11,382 steps so far today.
The rains never came yesterday so I took two additional walks to get my daily total to 22,211 - the most I have ever gotten while recording steps.  That makes me wonder how many steps we all got as kids when we would leave the house on a summer morning to play baseball/kickball/tag/whatever with friends and not come home until dinner.

I should take a moment to recognize my blessings. My employer furloughed no one, and with elective surgeries starting again tomorrow, we'll soon be at a point where they need to give me the promotion they've promised me since December. So, probably by July 1.  :lmao:

No spouse/kids certainly makes keeping a schedule easier, I should also confess.

I shouldn't have any trouble getting to 2K minutes, so some consideration for the future: I am going to try to exercise for one hour every day I can manage it. I spent the weekend customizing my morning walk to take right at one hour. I cannot continue to brutalize myself in the Texas sun, it's dawn patrol or bust until I'm comfortable in the gym again, which will be a minute.

63 minutes today, 1808 total.

Did two separate 50-minute walks today and 25 minutes of yoga, for 125 today and 2347 April total.

You might catch me.

2,790 and only a 50 Min walk tonight.

Day 30: 45 minute run followed by a 25min walk for 70 total.

On a side note, took care of 2 kids last night that tested Covid negative, but have the symptoms. Be interesting to see if I have any symptoms over the next week or so.
Good luck dude.  Anything besides Vitamin C and general handwashing/self quarantining that you can do at this point?

Friday 70 treadmill

Saturday 30 walking outside

Sunday 73 treadmill

I was really feeling tight this week so I cut back on the running milage and speed.  Before, i was comfortably doing 6.2 mph for most of my run and pushing into the 7.5 range for 5k or 8.6 for speed work.  It felt a lot better yesterday just walking to warm up,going 5 miles at a conversational pace (5.7mph) and walking some more to cool down.

I think I'm just going to settle in on that 3 to 6 mile distance for a while and not worry about speed or how many miles I am doing per week. Building up to be able to do an hour plus of running nonstop was a good achievement.  Now I'm just going to get stronger at it.

I guess it dawned on me how ridiculous it would be to hurt myself right now. I'm doing this to improve my health not risk it.

Not really. I'm really not overly concerned. Between nurses who I worked with and then were confirmed positive and patients that we've had, I can't imagine that I haven't been exposed already. Once the antibody tests are more reliable.available, I'm going to get tested.

Low this morning was 64 with relatively low to almost no humidity for Jupiter going into May, it was F-F-F-GORGEOUS

High today was like 78-80, just beautiful, reminded me of Hawaii.

60 Minute walk this morning with Mrs, 60 Min walk this Afternoon at 1:30, I gotta remember to wear a hat at all times, the sun snuck on me.

Then for the Night cap the Mrs got me out on the bike and we did about 80 Minutes and folks we have a grand total going into tonight after 200 Minutes today...

2,990...I wanted to bring it in as close to 3,000 as i could and call it a month.  😉

-Parks set to open around here on Wed including a lot of tennis courts. I don't know how I feel about that right now. My memory of a few weeks ago, I almost have PTSD about it. I was talking with my wife as we were cycling and I don't want my whole week filled up with Tennis. 2-3x a week is plenty for now and even on days I play, i want to be able to go on a walk with Mrs MOP, it's important we keep some of this bonding going.

-The month has not been as kind on the scales for my wife and I felt really bad the other day but she admitted she has not been watching what she eats like I have. It proves a couple things, even with over 2,000 minutes that she never typically does you can still either gain weight or not make the kind of progress you're hoping for. It really does come down mostly to will power but you will be aided the more you can get consistent with what you take in daily. I have been trying to stay under 1,800 even with a few beers and some pizza along the way. When I get in a pinch on calories I turn to WW and try to eat a Zero-3 Point meal, usually fish and veggies will work just fine.

For vanity reasons I want to stay away from the Courts a couple more weeks if possible just to see what some folks reaction might be.

I hope you all are enjoying whatever time you have been able to make with friends and family. I have stopped watching all morning TV including Sports. My MIAMI DOLPHINS had a very big draft and Im sure they were all weighing in on ESPN, NFLN, etc...I really didn't care. I find myself watching less and less of it, unless it's something like BCS.

Cheers Everyone, stay strong!

I'm getting more depressed and definitely not feeling any of this either.  Tried to quit WW today (but didn't because they give two months free when you do that), as I've now grown to hate tracking, while I used to enjoy the challenge of it.  If I didn't have the Tecumseh challenge going on, I would have quit on the daily minutes by now.  So, thank you to @Tecumseh for having posted about this the first time he did it, inspiring me to do it once and now twice.  Or maybe curses to Tecumseh for doing it.  :)

yea, this thread and my beast of a wife, have motivated me....just enough.  once i get out there, my instincts take over, and i usually push myself pretty hard.  so, thank you everyone.

If any of you (or anyone else) are interested in a zoom to bs after hours or play random games or go for a schticky run together or whatever floats let me know.  It's easy to feel down when your routines are disrupted, things are difficult financially or socially and you're not in control of your situation.  Let's solve our problems together with alcohol.

3 Miles Walking, 10 Miles on the Cycle, still may join Mrs if she decides to go outside today.

105 Minutes

3,095 Total with 2 more days to go.

Congrats on your 3000!  Crazy-good.

80 minutes for me today.  2529 total.
TY TY TY

Mrs got me back on the bike tonight, quite frankly I didn't think I could do it again, must limit my time in the direct sun during the day, I just get light headed. She is stuck on the laptop all day so some of the reason I am outside exercising is to save our marriage and keep my distance 😂...she doesn't need a single word of MY INPUT into what she does and that's just good advice for most married men. Listen, nod, ask obvious questions to show you are paying attention but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you chime in with any solutions.

75 whopping minutes to add to my hits list. The 3,000 Club, very Baseball like IMO.

3,170 and counting, and some of this is for you all who seem stuck or have been stuck inside not just because of the crisis but also weather has not been kind to some fo you. I doubt I would be doing all this if it were say 35 degrees outside or rainy much of the time, etc...

60 minute hike today with the family on my daughter's 4th birthday.  30 minute HIIT yesterday.  I'm at 1,250 for the month which is pretty sad compared to most in this thread.
Happy birthday to the little girl. Hope she had a fun day.

Im at 1325 which is lower than most but the important part is that we made sure to move most days and held each other accountable.   As the previous poster pointed out, some folks had better weather and some folks are not working right now.  It’s great that you spent an hour as a family.
