QB Lamar Jackson, BAL (4 Viewers)

Ah sorry guys. Didn't know the rule...

His coach put him back in with the game out of hand after pulling him which I didn't get. Maybe something to do with the line people were speculating.

An NFC executive says Louisville sophomore QB Lamar Jackson "has the look of a first (overall) pick."
"The thing I took away from the (Clemson-Louisville) game is that Lamar Jackson has the look of a first (overall) pick, but I don't think (Deshaun) Watson has the same look," he said. Jackson, who Clemson HC Dabo Swinney called a "right-handed Michael Vick," won't be eligible for the draft until 2018.

NFL.com draft analyst Chad Reuter writes that Louisville sophomore QB Lamar Jackson "has a cannon" and "can get the ball downfield in a hurry and stick throws into tight windows."
Jackson leads the FBS in scoring with 28 total touchdowns in five games. "Jackson shows excellent speed and agility in the open field as well as enough toughness to get that last yard," Reuter wrote. "The sophomore isn't consistent with his accuracy, but he could improve in that area with time." An NFC executive told NFL.com last week that Jackson "has the look of a first (overall) pick."

Yeah, sure he's going to be the next great athlete to revolutionize the qb position. Vick, Cunningham, RG3 and VY were so successful I'm sure it'll be easy as pie.

It takes years to learn how to be a great pocket passer and great athletes get little experience in high school or college. You just can't make cram all that learning in at the NFL level.

SI's Pete Thamel spoke with one ACC coach who believes Louisville sophomore Lamar Jackson "has no shot at playing quarterback in the NFL. None."
It is worth noting that this coach faced Jackson this season (which almost certainly means Jackson torched the team's defense). "He can’t make the throws and can’t read coverages. He’s not going to have a chance," he concluded. These comments were made when the coach was asked about Deshaun Watson's ability, but it seems Jackson was the preferred topic. Jackson just turned 20 years old.

Someday maybe every NFL team will learn to exclude running with the football when analyzing a college QB prospect. It should have little weight in determining if a college QB can make the leap to NFL QB. Scrambling, check. Running with no plan on throwing the ball before passing the LOS, scratch off draft board.

Any team basing their decision on how well a QB runs with the football needs to be prepared for when that QB lands on IR because it will eventually happen. If this guy can't make throws and can't read a D, he is useless as an NFL QB. That has been proven time and time again.

I agree with your post. For all their failings though, they have significant game to game value in FF. I remember Tebow getting me significant points at time while simultaneously looking like complete dog ####. Same with Terrelle Pryor. I'm not saying to put weight in long term development but running talent is worth having on a FF roster.

first 2018 mock draft, Sporting News' Eric Galko projected the Cardinals to select Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson with the No. 18 pick.
That is, assuming that Jackson is still around in the teens when the draft rises from its slumber once more next spring. Galko does not see that as a given, writing that the reigning Heisman Trophy winner "could rise to first overall consideration with a strong junior season" and that "[h]is athleticism and arm talent doesn’t fit what NFL teams covet in a top-10 passer, but his upside is tremendous." Jackson accounted for 51 total touchdowns between passing (30) and rushing (21) during his star-making 2016 turn.

Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson completed 14-of-26 passes for 270 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 111 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 56-10 win over Syracuse.

Per usual, Jackson performed brilliantly. Three of the four total touchdowns on his ledger came in the first half as Louisville raced out to an insurmountable 35-3 advantage before the two teams hit their respective locker rooms. The reigning Heisman winner has played every bit like a potential repeat performer this year, having now accounted for 40 scores in 11 contests. He'll try to leave award voters with one last beaut of a game when the Cardinals take on Kentucky next Saturday.

SI's Albert Breer would be surprised if Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson is selected in the first round.

Breer insinuates the NFL views Jackson as the same player now as he was going into 2016. The questions include anticipation, process a pro offense and the belief Jackson is "more thrower than passer." This topic will be discussed throughout the entire draft process. What we do know is Jackson is one of the top playmakers at his position in years.

Hope he decides to try WR, gets designated that on the site you play at, pick him up and stash him on the end of the bench. Then if QB injuries happen to the team he's on, you could be starting 2 QBs.

Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson completed just 13-of-31 passes for 171 yards, two touchdowns and four interceptions in Saturday's 31-27 loss to Mississippi State in the Taxslayer Bowl.

Jackson was up to his usual heroics on the ground, gobbling up a game-high 158 yards with a touchdown on the ground, but he was a bit off in this one as the pressure of the Bulldogs defense coaxed him into some poor decisions. He posted 3,660 passing yards with 27 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2017, while running for at least 100 yards on 10 different occasions. He is expected to be a high-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, but he is a divisive prospect among scouts. Jackson has the ability to make plays with his feet, and some team will fall in love with his playmaking ability during the draft process.

Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson said after Saturday's TaxSlayer Bowl loss to Mississippi State that he won't make a draft decision until January.

Jackson excelled on the ground in the contest -- he rushed for 158 yards and a score -- but was also picked off four times on the afternoon. Following the game, he said that he would sit down with coaches and family to discuss his future before making a draft call some time after the calendar flips to the New Year on Monday. The electric 6-foot-3, 205-pounder figures to draw an assortment of grades and evaluations this spring should he declare as expected, with his work as a passer set to fall under the microscope. He's a potential Day 1 selection.

The Sporting News' Eric Galko relays that while many NFL teams believe that Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson can stick at the position in the NFL, "not every team likes Jackson as a quarterback."

"Enough scouts have gone through the program, spoken with coaches and echoed similar concerns of offense complexity, his vocal ability as an offensive leader and his confidence when responsibilities grow," Galko writes. ESPN's Todd McShay is of the opinion that L-Jax should return to school for the 2018 season, citing mechanical issues which can lead to overthrows -- the analyst was specifically referencing what he saw during Louisville's TaxSlayer Bowl loss to Mississippi State over the weekend. Despite all of these questions, we still would not be surprised if he received real interest as a first-round prospect if he declares. His elite athleticism is just too tempting for him to fall that far.

Walter Football's Charlie Campbell hears that Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson is leaning toward a return to school for the 2018 season.

Per one of Campbell's sources, Jackson is "weighing the business odds" on a declaration/no-declaration. A high-ranking AFC executive who spoke with the insider called L-Jax "the most dynamic player in the draft." Not everybody is sold on him sticking at quarterback, though, as there are concerns in some corners about his ability to lead a complex NFL offense. Just where the 6-foot-3, 205-pounder might land should he declare is something that figures to be quite fluid during the evaluating process. We don't see him falling too far outside the first round should he remain on the board after Day 1.
