The Russia Investigation: Trump Pardons Flynn (10 Viewers)

This didn’t just happen once either...

“As a result, U.S. officials said there is no detailed record, even in classified files, of Trump’s face-to-face interactions with the Russian leader at five locations over the past two years.”

He is such a crook

Rep. Eliot L. Engel (D-N.Y.), new chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told the Post that the meeting will be a target for investigators now that Democrats have taken control of the House. While in the minority, House Democrats attempted to subpoena Trump's interpreter, but were blocked by Republicans.

It’s fine...everything is fine.

none of this is new or surprising.  the guy was spouting Russian propaganda on the campaign trail and railing on NATO.  63 million people voted for him anyway.  I'd bet at least half of them will still make excuses for why its not technically illegal for the POTUS to be under the control of a foreign adversary.  being under Russian control is still better than letting the socialists take over, or whatever else Hannity/Rush/Fox can come up with

This is a good point. I am hoping some lesser known Dems, or even Repubs, are drafting legislation like the above that will be focused on after the report or after 2020 to really "reform" the government and bring back some integrity to it. These minor changes should play a huge role in the next election and the next Congress, if not the current Congress. Maybe it's time to revisit some of these "laws" that we have taken for granted, as they are not laws, but rather simple decorum that other President's have done.
My guess is that Republicans will not go along with reform initiatives post-trump. To acknowledge the need for reform would be to bring light to their egregious lack of involvement in attempting to rein him in. They will remain true to their party and themselves.

Possibly, but then the Dems need to pound and pound these issues. Through the voting process, hopefully more Representatives would be voted in with this same mindset. It won't happen right away but it could be taken care of in a couple of elections.

Typing this only because I don’t know what the truth is, but... in the M. Knight Shyamalan universe, Trump is completely innocent, and Hillary is the real criminal. Imagine if that is the truth.
Had lunch the other day with a real conservative guy and the subject of the NRA and their spending during the election came up. First, he couldn't understand what they might have hoped to achieve by spending $30M in advertising (he's in sales, btw). When Butina came up and her potentially funneling money from Russia, he paused and said... "I can't wait til they finally investigate The Clinton Foundation."

I was without speech.

Barney Frank had it right.  There’s no sense arguing with a dining room table.

POTUS accused of being a Russian spy and doesn't have a good defense.  He is evasive.

All he says is he fired those who accused him.  They asked him right now about the Putin meetings.  Said some nonsense that he meets all the leaders.  Meeting Putin is not the controversy.  Hiding the details of those conversations from his admin is.

Q:  Did you kill your wife?

Innocent answer:  Absolutely not.  In fact I was at a work function the whole night.  20 witnesses.

Trump answers are like:  How dare you ask me that.  What I can tell you is she drank a lot and hung out with losers.
Trump answer: you the thing with my wife, she was a very Bad person ("hombre")  Many pEople said so.  She should have been Killed many many years ago. So sad, low Energy. ...

Only I know whole thing is made up fake news, and so I'm going to fire Anyone lOoking into my wifes so-called Murder...

In fact, it was actually the Democrats who kill their wife's.  Why Wont someone look into that?  SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!

#MAGA

“If it isn’t illegal to hide legal stuff, why should it be illegal to hide illegal stuff? It’s all just stuff.”
Plus, both sides do it.

Also, the President needs to hide lots of stuff. And it isn’t illegal if the President hides it

And, it would be so much worse if Hillary was in there.

Besides, stuff isn’t important. What the American people care about are jobs... er, the economy..., I mean...

Pence better be squeaky clean.

Trump and Pence going down only for Pelosi to take over would be the ultimate series finale.

Declare martial law.  Sweep out all the russian sympathizers.  Roll back the last two scotus justices.

That's exactly what's going to happen.  Pence is up to his eyeballs in this ####.

"Are you now or have you ever worked for Russia, Mr. President?"

Trump doesn't directly answer: "I think it's the most insulting thing I've ever been asked. I think it's the most insulting article I've ever had written."

I guess if we want a straight answer we should ask Putin. I’m not joking. “Did you want president trump to win and did you direct any of your operatives...”

“yes....”

pretty cut ant dry there from their first meeting, so maybe we should go back to the well.

Breaking: Trump has gone to extraordinary lengths to conceal details of his conversations with Putin, including on at least one occasion taking the notes of his own interpreter and instructing the linguist not to discuss what had transpired, WaPo reports.

Because of the absence of any reliable record of Trump’s conversations with Putin, officials at times have had to rely on reports by U.S. intelligence agencies tracking the reaction in the Kremlin.

Previous presidents and senior advisers have often studied such reports to assess whether they had accomplished their objectives in meetings as well as to gain insights for future conversations.

U.S. intelligence agencies have been reluctant to call attention to such reports during Trump’s presidency because they have at times included comments by foreign officials disparaging the president or his advisers, including his son-in-law Jared Kushner, a former senior administration official said.

“There was more of a reticence in the intelligence community going after those kinds of communications and reporting them,” said a former administration official who worked in the White House. “The feedback tended not to be positive.”
This is maybe a way to understand the NYT report about the counterintelligence investigation into Trump in context. Trump's meeting with Kislyak and Lavrov in the Oval and his tone there in combination with his refusal to share information with his own government meant that the IC and even diplomats at State likely needed some understanding of what was really going on.

I've thought all along that someone on the inside has been talking to the FBI from early on.   Pence would be a solid possibility, as backstabbing Trump could net him the Presidency, while also allowing him to neatly sidestep the ####show of Trump going down.
Pence was recommended by Manafort. Christie was running the transition until Trump won and him and most of his team were fired. Pence then took over. I have to think he’s somewhat involved. Makes me wonder if Flynn told him the truth and that Pence was the one lying in the TV interviews.

I believe that and I would wager most here do as well. It appeared to be a classic fall on your sword move by Flynn.
