I think too Trump is out to get fake news. I think he wants the American people to see that they're led into believing what the media wants them to believe. I don't think Trump is even thinking about 2020 and I'm not sure he'll even run again to be honest.

DNC continually bashing Trump is great for the alt-left that feed off it .......... but majority of American's are sick of it all IMO
I disagree that “most” Americans are sick of it.  I think most Americans see Trump for what he is: a sociopathic racist (at worst) or bigot (at best) who is totally unqualified to hold the office he does.  His sicophant base is obviously excluded; they believe anything he says, because it has given a voice to their own racist and bigoted views which have been under attack by the evolving global moral shift towards inclusion, acceptance and equality.

The suppression of racist America has been liberated by his election.  There is no question.  It is like the ring of power has made its way out of the lake and armies are aligning.

I do not mean to suggest that all Trump supporters are lining up as orcs to champion the cause of racism.   But the base is fanatical and, based on what I have seen over the last year, the racist underbelly of America has awoken.  They have a new champion.  Whether he actually identifies with them or not.

The effect of that has been a galvanization on the center and left.  Liberty and the American dream are under attack.  It seems hyperbolic, but it is not.   Regardless of where you stand on fiscal, foreign policy or other issues, there can be no doubt that the leader of the free world is abusive, immoral, a compulsive liar and, in my submission, wholly unfit to hold the office that he does.

That you suggest Trump is a champion of the cause that the media is the enemy and controls the narrative only serves to reinforce the point.   A president that deligitimizes a free press that is “anti-president” is a tyrant.   The assault on the press by Trump is novel in a 21st Century western liberal democracy.   And it is dangerous.  These are uncharted waters and the damage being done in America might not be reversed.

You say Trump is out to expose the “fake news”.   But he is, without question, the biggest purveyor of false and misleading information (fake news) we have ever seen from a North American democratic leader. This is the “leader” of the free world.

And, he is disgusting.   Both in his words (grab ‘em by the #####) and his actions (making fun of a handicapped reporter).  There are endless examples over the last two years that stand on their own, independent of any media coverage or spin.  He is a sick human being.  Truly.

I’m not American.   But I love America.  For the last 100 years America has been the beacon for all liberal democracies.  Warts and all.   The standard by which the rest of us have measured ourselves.  At least economically and culturally, if not socially and politically.

But those days are over.  The rest of the world no longer looks to America as the moral compass of this planet.   And the reason for that is simple.  It couldn’t be more simple, really:  you elected quite possibly the antithesis of what not only a leader should be, but what a decent human being should be.

As I’ve said in multiple posts over the past year, I genuinely worry that America has truly jumped the shark.

This is a great post, but reading it is like taking a long look in the mirror and being embarrassed by the guy looking back.

Trump’s BMI would be the highest of any PotUS since Taft - if he was 6’2”.

However, in his official medical exam last week, he was measured at 6’3”. That’s one inch taller than previously reported.

Which even Democrats should admit is pretty impressive for a 70 y.o. man.

Do you think Trump has integrity?  Do you think he is a moral man?  Do you think the president should be a moral man?
No. No. Yes, it'd be nice if everyone had morals.

Why do you ask?

"They say it would instead cut off a crucial financial lifeline for low-income communities".

:wall:
Yes, these types of "financial" lifelines have been proven to take advantage of low-income communities which in turn helps maintain that status for said communities. Let's do away with this Obama era attempt to help protect those low-income communities and it's residents from these "financial" lifelines these institutions provide. It's the least we could do for them.

And yet they ("R's") point their finger at Obama and liberals for the state/status quo of low income communities...

I seriously thought this was a Trump tweet when I first read it.  Then I realized that you actually said it yourself.  Brilliant.

Both CNN and Fox had Trump voters on this morning - both asking how he's doing.  I had the sound off and closed captioning on but it seemed that every one of them said he's doing a good job and their reasons were jobs, economy and immigration.  What was striking to me is that one of them said Trump speaks the truth - truly mind boggling to think they would say that considering how much the man lies but I think what they meant was "he says things that are controversial that we agree with".

i think the worst thing about trump is that he brings out the worst in america he caters to racists and bigots and people who want to turn the clock back on social progress or people who dont care about anything and just want deregulation to help them personally make more money and people who just want to watch it all burn and laugh those are his strongholds but that is not what makes america great in fact that is what america in its greatness has tried to overcome and i think it is nothing to be proud of that a presidents lasting legacy is that he stood for hate take that to the bank brohans

If you were a Trump supporter from the beginning, I can's see how anything he's done would have caused you to change your support.  The economy and jobs are doing well (I know I know not that much changed from O but the numbers are the numbers now apparently) plus he has cracked down on immigration, ISIS seems to be in check for the time being, and of course that bigly tax cut.  I don't think Trump supporters care a whit about the prior standards of the office, nor how we are perceived around the world.  They've taken a hard America Only stance and that's all that matters to them.

And when the stock market inevitably corrects you can expect unabashed deflection from Trump and likely blaming O for pumping so much money into the economy.  I know it makes no sense but that's where we are.

As an "aber dabei" to the Norway discussion, according to the World Economic Forum (GD Liberals)  the Norwegians come in third in least hours worked in OECD..

The Mexicans are the hardest workers in OECD, working approximately 10 hours more per week than Americans...

Link
And a lot of the jobs they do is also hard physical work.

The types of jobs Americans no longer want to do.  Makes sense to keep them out of the country and bring in the people who work less and only cater to the high end jobs that all Americans are going after.

Nobody really thought it was about who worked harder...

[Michael Cohen]NDA's from 2016 cover interview given in 2011, right?[/Michael Cohen]

While Stormy adamantly denied that anything happened in a letter released by Trump's lawyer on Jan. 10, In Touch has an explosive first-person interview with the adult entertainer that was conducted in 2011, in which she details her affair with the then-star of NBC’s The Apprentice.

In the new issue of In Touch, on newsstands today, Stormy (given name: Stephanie Clifford) confirms in her own words that she had sex with Donald Trump in his Lake Tahoe, NV, hotel suite in 2006 — a story that was corroborated to In Touch in 2011 by her good friend Randy Spears and supported by her ex-husband Mike Moz. Stormy also took and passed a polygraph test at the time of the interview.

Apparently Jeff Flake is going to town on the floor, taking Trump to task for dismissing Russia as a hoax, for emboldening strongmen disctators while cutting against the free press ala fake news and the like.

Theres gonna be a whole #### load of sound bites for the upcoming election cycle for folks to pull from (Trumps own words will certainly be used and exploited, as I assume with some response such as this...  is if this is what Republicans are saying about the direction of the country...)

Also, I'll post this in the elections thread, but since it was mentioned above, in Wisconsin a state senate seat flipped Dem where all counties covered voted for Trump, some with as much as a 16 or advantage over Hillary in the Presidential race.

I guess it's not all that surprising but I still can't get over the fact that Trump cheating on his pregnant wife with a porn star and then paying her six figures in hush money and Fox News burying the story before the 2016 election isn't bigger news.

As has often been said, imagine if the roles were reversed and Barack cheated on Michelle with a porn star while Michelle was pregnant and had just given birth to their child, and then paid her hush money, and then CNN had the story and buried it before an election so as not to harm Obama's chances.

White porn star or black porn star?

Just put it on the incredibly lengthy list of things that in any other time in our country's history would've destroyed a President (or Presidential candidate). We're in the Upside Down people. Normal rules stopped applying to Trump a long time ago.

Just another day in the life of an alpha manly man.

It's also amazing to me that Melania STILL doesn't care and will remain with him for the money. I guess he still gives her what she was looking for when she first signed up for the deal. In fact, I doubt it bothers her at all that he bangs other women. I'm sure she has no desire to.

Gotta remember, she married Trump in the first place.

Willingly.

I doubt she ever cared.

She has her own side piece.

Both sides do it

I think the hand swatting away, and her smile turned to disgust at inauguration, shows that she cares.  Probably likes the lifestyle though (or at least liked it before he became President), and there's an ironclad pre-nup in place.
