But no one wants to pay to see them.

If you only eat at McDonald's, all you are going to want to eat is McDonald's.

Recently a poster here who shall go unnamed was complaining about Elisabeth Moss' appearance. Think about how bat#### that is.

McDonald has some good cheap food.

I barely remember the Force Awakens film, I thought the Kylo and Daisy were brother and sister. LOL. Now it makes more sense. Haha.

Next person to go see this again - I am curious about the final scene with Luke and Kylo Ren.

My recollection is that prior to the main attack, they showed a rebel/resistance soldier walking on the salt flats, and they showed a close-up of the red planet under his footsteps - obviously foreshadowing the "red" trail under the mono-skis.  But, I wonder if it was also attempting to foreshadow Luke's "trick".

I know in the Luke v. Kylo scenes they focused on the feet a couple of times - but I can't recall if they were showing that Luke was moving his feet, and no salt foot prints were left (or were they showing Kylo Ren's footwork?).  Or, was that entire area already cleared of the salt from the ongoing battle/laser blasts?

Just curious.  Thanks!

Do you guys agree they should have used an attractive Asian girl instead. You have so many girls that can act and look great. It makes Finn look stupid because he could get a Daisy Ridley.

I don't think about stuff like this at all actually.

I get the criticism about the casino but it's not that different than the cantina where they picked up Han and Chewie.

It's nothing like that. Moz's hideout in TFA was like the cantina. The casino was closer to something out of the prequels (but better I'll admit)

Why are some people so weird. Why does every character have to be attractive enough for you to want to ####? Do you become more interested in a storyline if the woman in it is more attractive to you? Regular, average looking people can't have importance in a Star Wars movie?

Such a weird (and frankly misogynistic) point of view.

Can't say for certain, because I wasn't really watching for this - but I believe the footwork is all Kylo's.

Let's go find help from a guy with an unsavory reputation, in a place of ill repute, frequented by all sorts of aliens we haven't seen before, sort of under imperial control, and escape on the ship he is flying after being chased.

But yeah, nothing like it at all.

They are trying to create a romance with flyer boy and Daisy I think.

:wall:

Maybe Finn isn't a shallow ####.

One of my friends on FB asked an important question:

I haven't seen this posted anywhere else. It it has, I apologize. I'll try to make it spoiler free. When Luke made his 'choice' at the end, what happen to his hand? Shouldn't we have heard metal on stone and have seen it fall?

?

It was transported to the Terminator 2 set.

I don't normally see movies twice in the theater, especially the first weekend of release, but due to irregular circumstances I saw it the first Saturday and then again on Sunday. Other than the Leia deathfloat, I thought the movie was great on first viewing. Kylo/Ren vs. Praetorian guards was awesome. Hyperspace through the star destroyer was stunning, very well done.

I'm not one to rank and compare vs. other films, but it was just as entertaining the second time through.

Social media is why we can't have nice things.

If u recall the area they face off is red from all the blasts.

This is true and Luke walls across a red glassy surface to face off against Kylo. But it starts to "snow" salt and a layer ends up coating the arena.  Then they show Kylo leaving red marks and very clearly Luke does not.

yikes.  Looks like the box office decline is historic (although the timing of Christmas eve likely did not help)

Well that's it than.. Time to shut it down.. it was a nice run though.

It does.  It is the difference between getting 200 percent return on their investment vs. 2000 percent.

But it won't stop them from producing more like insein said. And on top of that, I doubt they even remove the director. So they don't make as much as they expected. But they still made a ton.

Does it really matter though?

It obviously won't affect any new movies.  They are still going to come out until one of these movies loses its shirt and TLJ is going to make Disney a ton of profit (just less than expectations).

I can't say whether this would effect their choice of Johnson to helm 10-12.  We will just have to wait and see.

It is odd that they opened it the week before Christmas. They had to know that second weekend would be death.

Maybe they were banking on the jews waiting until yesterday and today. A little Chinese food before the movie.

Here is my hot take. Could be wrong. But I think I'm right

The Force Awakens was an experience that everyone wanted to be a part of  it was the start of making the prequels right. JJ was on board and nerds like us and normal people were all

The movie got rave reviews. And why wouldn't it. It was A new Hope packaged with some new characters. When the movie ended, there were two groups. Ones who questioned who rey was, what was Luke doing and who was Smoke. Then there were people who left enjoying it but not caring for anything else about it when they left their seat.

Rogue 1 gets sandwiched in between. While many loved it, people like my wife who went with us, didn't hate it but was like Ok.

So by the time this comes out, I think there was a significant amount of people who just didn't care about the continuation of the story. I'm not talking about us. We all saw it. Some saw it twice. But the ones who didn't think about it when they left the theater in 2015, didn't need to rush and see it

Add in the fact of the mixed reviews and you get a major slide in tix sales. Just my take. And I do believe it won't matter. They will milk this cow or Thala Sire for a long time. When star wars land and the accompanying hotel opens in Disneyworld, it will only add to the universe.

The critical reviews weren't mixed. The fanboy reviews who simultaneously both want and don't want a return to the original trilogy were pretty hateful.

Disney will look at both the critical reviews and the boat ton of money it made and just keep moving forward imo.

Who gave the bad reviews is irrelevant to many movie goers. Once the word gets out, it's out. The weird part is that there were some in this thread who helped spur that negativity and still went to see it again and changed their mind. Oops.

I saw this in a theater, super stoned and sat in awesome heated reclining seats and had food/beer service at your seats. Was awesome. A bit too awesome maybe cause reading this thread I apparently blacked out for like 1/2 this movie.

:kicksrock:

I need to go see it again apparently
