Eli rejoins Giants

Eli Manning rejoins Giants in business operations and fan engagement role; date set for jersey retirement and Ring of Honor induction

Eli Manning, who won two Super Bowls, set numerous passing records and was one of the most popular players in Giants history, is officially back with the Giants, this time in an off the field capacity, the team announced today. Manning retired as a player following the 2019 season, ending a franchise-record 16-year career spent entirely with the Giants. His ties with the team and with the fanbase run incredibly deep, and it's those relationships that his new responsibilities will tap into, as he'll help with initiatives stretching across business development, marketing and community and corporate relations. Manning will also collaborate with the Giants on original content development and fan engagement activations, including a new lifestyle series premiering this fall.

yeah i dont get that ...I'm starting to get a little worried about Barkleys rehab with all of these RB signings. I havent heard anything bad but I havent heard anything good either.
Once training camp starts, I will be keeping a close eye on Saquon for fantasy purposes. I looks like I will have to make a choice between Kamara & Saquon in my fantasy draft. The Giants fan in me wants Saquon, but I think Kamara is the smart choice

Steelers sign Trai Turner, cut David Decastro ... Could the moves give the Giants a new free agency OL target?

Please Make this Happen ... Decastro vs Lemiuex is a Gigantic upgrade

https://www.bigblueview.com/2021/6/25/22549751/steelers-sign-trai-turner-cut-david-decastro
Decastro reportedly has a chronic ankle injury (bone spurs) & is considering retirement. at the very least he needs surgery.

Cutting him saved the team 8+ million.

“I have to get surgery on my ankle a third time,” DeCastro said Thursday. “I tried to fix it last year but the bone spurs kept coming back. It nagged me pretty bad all last year.”

pretty sure he’s not an acquisition target to help anyone in 2021.

yeah i didnt read deep enough into it ... He was still pretty good even with a bad ankle and terrible supporting cast last season

As a DJ owner, I’d looooooove to see them get another OL upgrade for sure.

I think they have a few guys coming back from injury from last year so they should be a little better.

If Gettleman was inclined to sign an OL, he could have paid Trai Turner $3 million. But he didn't. As risky as it seems to many, he keeps demonstrating that he thinks the guys they have will be very good.

I agree completely. I'm intrigued. Gettleman made his name scouting OL/DL, right?

Crap !  Tackle Matt Peart (back) center Jonotthan Harrison (hamstring) ... This is Troubling

The 32nd ranked Oline without their starting RT and only backup center ... I have very very low expectations for the Giants Offense this season.

Jones is going to get creamed and will take the fall for this when they Giants have to waste at least 2 x 1st rd picks to get another Quarterback who will have to start his career behind the Worst NFL line in the NFL

I'd rather trade the 2 picks for a OT and a G/C now and give Jones a real chance

Also unconfortable with the Barkely situation ... I havent heard any positive news and they Giants keep bringing RBs

I have my doubts about the OL as well. They need to take a major step up just to be decent.

That being said Jones needs to elevate his game too. He needs to use his athleticism a little more and take off running at least 3 to 5 times per game. If he shows a willingness to make plays with his legs it MIGHT help slow down the pass rush a little.

He was running for his life last year. Seems silly to put the OL woes on Jones.

He was surprisingly athletic on the run as well, right up until he popped his hammy. His legs gave him sneaky value some weeks last year.

But that OL needs shoring up. All the DJ runs in the world won’t slow down a pass rush through a screen door.

Speaking of screens, having Barkley back should be far more significant at slowing the pass rush. A couple dump-offs to Barkley that go to the house & they’ll chill right out.

You’re right it would be silly to put the OL woes on Jones, that’s why I didn’t do that in my post.

You said the OL was bad, the followed it with “That being said Jones needs to elevate his game too.”

Sure sounded like you're putting it on Jones. You said he needs to run more. “That being said” is an implication that would negate the OL issues and places blame on Jones for not “using his athleticism”, as though that would help with the defenders in his face in .4 seconds.

Maybe that’s not what you meant, but that’s how it reads to me.

No worries.  I was trying to talk about the two (OL & Jones) separately.

Too = also

I was trying to say that both the OL & Jones need to improve

Kadarius Toney placed on Reserve/COVID-19 list

This guy is off to a real ####ty start ... I hated the pick when it happened and I.m almost ready to write him of as another disasterous pick by Gettleman ..(i.e.Baker)

https://www.giants.com/news/kadarius-toney-reserve-covid-list-rookies-training-camp-mike-weber-jordyn-peters

Yeah it's early but the writing is already on the wall with this one
He's coming off the COVID list today

https://nypost.com/2021/07/27/kadarius-toney-to-come-off-giants-covid-19-list/

I didn't think Benjamin was going to make the team and wasn't really in favor of the signing in the first place, but Judge does come across poorly in the way he handled it.  That kind of thing should be done behind closed doors and not in public on the side of the field.

Giant Oline Watch 32nd ranked Oline now without 2 Starters and their only backup Center

  • Peart - RT (PUP) STARTER (Replaced by Solder)
  • Lemieux - LG carted off the field  - STARTER (Replaced by Wiggins)
  • Harrison - C (PUP) BACKUP - No Other experienced Center on the Roster
Kenny Wiggins stepped in at left guard, which was somewhat surprising. Wiggins has 38 career starts from his time with the Lions and Chargers. He spent some of last season on the Giants practice squad.

It’s unclear if Wiggins would be the replacement if Lemieux misses any time, but one possibility would be to move Will Hernandez back to left guard and plug in veteran Zach Fulton at right guard.

Near the end of practice, projected starting left guard Shane Lemieux was carted off the field with what the Giants are calling a knee injury.
I’m glad to hear that Lemieux injury doesn’t appear to be serious.

How bad is our OL that we are all on pins and needles because a guy who was ranked dead last at his position the last year got hurt in training camp.

Yeah I was actually thinking that Kenny Wiggins may just be an upgrade

A full-team brawl at Giants camp with QB Daniel Jones somehow at the bottom of the pile. … Joe Judge is absolutely livid. He’s got the players lined up now to run.

Hard to see exactly what happened. RB Corey Clement took a big hit at the end of a run. TE Evan Engram retaliated and then he got popped by Logan Ryan.

Then everybody — and I mean everybody — jumped in.

After doing 100 yard runs — and not hard enough for Joe Judge’s liking — players are now lined up on the foal line doing push ups.

There is dead silence except for Joe Judge’s whistle and his expletives. … So many expletives.

Giants players are running goal line to goal line again … and again … and now back to push ups.

Joe Judge is doing his best Herb Brooks imitation now.

Now Joe Judge gathered his players around him … and sent his coaches away.

He wants them all to himself

Well this sounds….odd.

It would be nice to have one piece of good news come out about this team during the preseason.

Well this isn’t the good news I was just hoping for.

”KENNY GOLLADAYWR, NEW YORK GIANTS

Giants WR Kenny Golladay left Giants' practice Tuesday with an apparent leg injury.

Video from the team's practice shows Golladay grabbing at the back of his left leg near the end of a passing play. Golladay, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal with New York this offseason, was escorted into the team facility by member of the training staff. It's a deeply concerning development for Golladay, who missed most of the 2020 season with a hip injury. His absence would leave a massive void in the Giants offense and open up targets for Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram, and Darius Slayton.”
