Adam Thielen caught 3-of-5 targets for 51 yards and a touchdown in the Vikings' Week 6 loss to the Falcons.

Thielen entered the game with a higher target share than Justin Jefferson, but it was another Jefferson breakout game (9-166-2). The Vikings have two stud receivers to work with if they ever choose to stop running the ball in neutral situations. Of course, the Vikings love to establish it at all costs. Thielen and Jefferson could rotate big games if Cousins stays in the 30-attempt range. He'll be a boom-bust WR1 against the Packers after the bye.

Adam Thielen caught 3-of-4 targets for 27 yards in Minnesota's Week 8 win over the Packers.

Thielen's performance is underwhelming on the surface, but note that Kirk Cousins was only asked to dropback and attempt 14 passes since Dalvin Cook (30/163/3) had no issues running all over Minnesota's front-seven. Thielen's four targets (as many as Justin Jefferson had) are disappointing if only because Packers CB Jaire Alexander instead shadowed Jefferson Sunday. Fantasy players can confidently go back to Thielen as a high-end WR2 with more volume in Week 9 against Detroit.

Adam Thielen caught 4-of-7 targets for 43 yards and two touchdowns in the Vikings' Week 10 win over the Bears.

Thielen scored the opening touchdown of the game with an impressive, one-handed grab in the end zone while blanketed by a defensive back. He ended the night with two scores but rookie receiver Justin Jefferson (8/135) led the Vikings with 10 targets. Jefferson's early-career breakout is capping Thielen's target volume on an offense that already wants to keep the air out of the ball. Thielen remains a high-end WR2 but Jefferson may be in the process of passing him as Minnesota's lead-receiver.

Vikings placed Adam Thielen on the reserve/COVID list.

He's the sixth player for the Vikings to go on the list in the last month. Thielen played 57 snaps (89%) against the Cowboys Sunday, roasting Dallas' secondary for 8/123/2, perhaps forcing both teams to undergo close-contact tracing Monday afternoon. It's more than possible that Thielen is cleared in time for Sunday against the Panthers.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Adam Thielen tested positive and then tested negative for COVID-19.

It's possible that Thielen had a false positive, but more testing will determine if that was the case. The Vikings are working with the NFL in determining his status. Thielen currently sits on the reserve/COVID list while waiting for more information. If Thielen is out for Week 12, Justin Jefferson would be a top-15 receiver. Thielen has 10 red zone touchdowns already.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Adam Thielen (COVID) is not expected to play in Week 12 against the Panthers.

Thielen reportedly experienced a false positive before the holiday but may not get cleared from the COVID list in time for Sunday's kick-off. He's currently awaiting more information and further testing before officially being ruled out. Justin Jefferson becomes an all too obvious WR1 without Thielen Sunday while Bisi Johnson and Chad Beebe will fill in sporadically behind him. Overall, expect coach Mike Zimmer to lean on Dalvin Cook even more without his team's No. 1 wideout available inside the red zone.

DFS Slant:

Thielan missing this week's game would lock in Justin Jefferson as Minnesota's WR1 against a burnable Carolina secondary. Jefferson is sure to be a popular Week 12 option in every kind of DFS format.

3 minutes ago, Payne said:

Sure hope he plays. Can't he still test negative before Sunday?

Following a positive test, if the player is asymptomatic, he can return once:

10 days have passed since the initial positive test; OR

Five days have passed since the initial positive test and the player receives two consecutive negative PCR virus tests at least 24 hours apart within that five-day period

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer expects Adam Thielen (reserve/COVID-19) to play in Week 13 against the Jaguars.

The Vikings held out Thielen despite a false positive test last week. He'll come off the COVID list and should return after missing only one game. Olabisi Johnson had seven catches for 74 yards filling in for Thielen last week. Thielen's presence will push Johnson back into four-wide sets.

Adam Thielen caught 3-of-4 targets for 39 yards in Minnesota's Week 14 loss to Tampa Bay.

He also nearly hauled in another one-handed touchdown grab in the back corner of the end zone but the ball instead bounced off his mitt. Both Justin Jefferson (4/39) and Thielen were kept quiet as Kirk Cousins instead depended on Irv Smith (4/63/1) and Tyler Conklin (5/40) for more receiving yards underneath while constantly under duress inside the pocket. This was still merely a blip on the radar for Thielen, who had recorded eight catches and/or multiple touchdowns in each of his three games prior. He'll rank as a high-end WR2 in Week 15 against the Bears.

Adam Thielen caught 8-of-9 targets for 97 yards and one touchdown in the Vikings' Week 16 loss to the Saints.

Game script broke Thielen's way in the fantasy finals. Minnesota was trailing big for most of the game, setting up Thielen for easy grabs in catch-up mode. With CB Marshon Lattimore on Justin Jefferson, Thielen had the easiest individual matchup among the Vikings' pass catchers, too. That helped him rack up tons of yardage in the second half. With just two minutes remaining, Thielen scored from one yard out. It was his league-high 13th red zone touchdown of the year. Incredible. Thielen will be an upside WR2 to close the season out against the injured Lions.

Adam Thielen caught 4-of-5 targets for 57 yards in the Vikings' Week 17 win over the Lions.

Coming off an injury-derailed 2019 season, Thielen stayed healthy, only missing one game as a COVID-19 close contact. It was the tale of two halves for Thielen, however. Before the Vikings bye, Thielen averaged 19.5 PPR points as Minnesota’s clear-cut No. 1 receiver, but Justin Jefferson appeared to leap him down the stretch. Possibly a warning sign for 2021, most of Thielen’s fantasy production came from his career-high 14 touchdowns, all but one of them coming from the red area. If he isn’t as dominant in the red zone next year, Thielen could easily drop out of the WR2 discussion. Expect the veteran to return to Minnesota for his age-31 season even though he doesn’t have any guaranteed money left on his current contract. His play warrants another season as Jefferson’s sidekick in two-receiver sets.
