Ozark on Netflix (3 Viewers)

Seeing them get away with it all would be too unrealistic; I hope they don't go that route.  As smart and crafty as Wendy and Marty both are, they are both in a little over their heads in the sense that neither is as evil and diabolical as Navarro or Darlene or Frank, and there will be too many forces working against them for them to get away with it all, IMO.
A lot of parallels to The Americans IMO.  Going to be interesting how this lands.

What happens to Neslon? Dead? Works for Byrds?
Nelson worked for Navarro I thought.  He’s the one who kills Helen, so I would think he will be assigned to Marty.  Even in an earlier episode this season, Helen asked Nelson if he would give her a head ups if he was ordered to take her out, I guess he lied, lol.

I remember that.

Did I miss it? Did Nelson cap Helen?

I had to rewatch the scene and I’m 99% sure he did, if you watch it again, look at him as he leaves the vehicle, eventhough it doesn’t show him doing the hit, he has to be the one who killed her I would think, he was right next to her, just couldn’t see him in the scene.  Plus, it adds up regarding the earlier episode when Helen asked Nelson if he would let her know if she was going to be taken out.

Finished last night, good season.  Feel like this is something that needs to wrap up next season though
Yep

If I have learned anything about greatly written shows where they are driven by intense dramatic scenes of crazy storylines....

Dont go too crazy. Less is more. We will feels the rinse repeat factor even more than we already see it as.

Yup

Great point and good catch

Just rewatched the scene. Has to be him. Him leaving the scene was to give us the stun effect.  If he was in the picture and pulled out a gun , less of an effect.

A big plot point next season is gonna be that state senator with the FBI connection running for a national office, giving them big influence right? Or maybe that doesn't help them as much as his local ininfluence. Just seems like they aren't done with that guy.

Agree.  They brought him in the story for a reason...

Very good season

Ben portrayed his condition very good

I found myself especially early on getting annoyed at Ruth's constant over the top mouth

Darlene....GILF! :shudder: I hope Wyatt got hazard pay

Agree didnt need to see Ben got got

Wendy did a great job on dealing with her brother's loss/murder

Marty is a rock. Well done and well played

Is the daughter 18 yet? Asking for a friend.

Not all 3 were returning from Mexico. Assuming it was helen but yea...why waste time?

KC does seem around the corner

S4

Son starts to question mom....everything?

FBI flipping storyline

Darlene/Ruth vs Byrds war

Police on Darlene side?

KC mob on Darlene side?

Byrds have Navaro + assume new character.

What happens to Neslon? Dead? Works for Byrds?
Add in Helen's daughter.  She finds out her mom and the Byrdes are involved in the cartel, and now a day later mom is offed, never to be heard from again.  Is Navarro taking out Helen's whole family as well?  If not, will Erin cause issues for the Byrdes next season since she knows they are involved?

I assume that Charlotte is going to step into the Ruth role at the casino next season. Much more involved in day-to-day family operations.

Maybe he didn't know either.

What a great season.. Soooooooo disappointed when it ended.. The way it ended in Mexico was

The brother was amazing.. One minute I'm ready to see him gone... and the next .. I'm not crying, your crying...

Narvo has no idea how much the daughter knows, so for now I don't see him going after that family.

Darlene is crazy, but in a good way.. Not only taking out Jr. But then owning up to it with.. He deserved it, lets move onto business, in the same breath.

Very disappointed to know it will probably be another two years until season 4 :(

I think spoilers are fine

If you are checking in this thread I assume it's been watched ....
I think putting it in the quotes is a good idea still especially with this being a streaming show.

I intentionally avoided this thread while watching the season for fear of spoilers but it would have been nice to be able to post some thoughts and questions about earlier stuff.

I wanted to as well but it's not worth it...if someone does come in here while watching the show...

I hate Wendy's brother.  He is annoying as hell but a good actor.
He did a good job playing somebody with his mental health issues.

I liked the way the writers sealed his deal with him buying the phone. He couldn't help himself - as is such the case for somebody in his condition. I did find it a touch unlikely, though, that he wouldn't have been forced back on his meds by Wendy/Marty after he got out. Yes, the damage was done, but he'd have been much easier to control and may have seen that he needed to flee and not come back.

He probably didn't know until near last minute. I got the impression that Navarro knew there was irreparable damage to the Bryds' and Helen's relationship and had to decide. It was a tough decision. But, he made it (probably almost last minute), made his peace with it, and quickly moved on from it (hence the hug).

So, how does this end?  Do Marty and Wendy stay together?  Do they both live?  Prison or do they get away with it all?  A ton of possibilities.
They've set it up well. And this season was still intense and consistently interesting (I thought season two was a bit boring at times).

But, they should end it next season or by season five at the latest. This shouldn't drag. Because, frankly, one family shouldn't be able to remain in this amount of hot water without either getting out of the pot or boiling up.

Well, he obviously knows that Ben told the daughter that her mom worked for the cartel and has killed people. I agree that he may conclude the kid isn't worth going after, but he knows that she knows something.

I really liked this season, however I thought it was overly dramatic and sad. Really well acted, but it was too somber for me. I personally enjoy the money laundering schemes and how the family plots to keep themselves alive. This season seemed to focus on the dynamics of relationships much more. They did a great job with it though. The best final scene of any of the seasons though. Great show.

The bold is why I still think season one was by far the best. I like Marty on the defensive and thinking outside the box. Don't care as much for them (especially Wendy) being on the offensive.

🤣

What I thought was interesting was how Frank and the KC mob wasn't as big a story as you would have thought after the way Season 2 ended.  Same goes for Darlene as far as her interaction with the Byrds goes. Although it seems like it is going that way for Season 4.

I honestly wasn’t a huge fan of some of these plot points this season.  Seemed to be more of a distraction.  I still liked the season for the acting and tone and whatnot, Just didn’t find a lot of the storytelling that compelling
Can you say which plot lines you didn’t think were necessary?

Yeah, speaking of Frank and the KC mob, I was surprised he didn't put up a fight after the business ended with the Byrds/casinos.  There was a lot of money lost there.

This. Hard to see a scenario where Jonah and Charlotte don't play a major role in the outcome of the series.

Well that story isn't over.  The mob, now allied with Darlene, will be clashing with the Byrdes a plenty down the road.

Absolutely, but they won't be kids anymore by the the time we see it.

They should film 2 seasons at a time and then wait one year to release the 2nd.  Waiting 2 years for a series to return is what I dislike about Netflix and other streaming shows.

Awesome season. Just when it starts to feel like the same old story, turns out it isnt. Old lady even stayed up till 1 am binging the final 3 episodes. She never does that.

I wouldn't say it was terrible, but tbh, I was not a huge fan.  I'm not a huge Wendy fan.  The brother arc was fine, but I just think it slowed down the tempo of the show way too much.  (Along with every scene with Wyatt who is getting really annoying).  Navarro just doesn't strike me as a terrifying cartel leader.  And not to nitpick here, but honestly, when Sam got busted for suspicion of money laundering, there is nfw he wouldn't have immediately turned into a witness to bring down Marty.  They just kind of let that slide off the page too conveniently.

Would I watch another season?  Probably, but I think this show has run it's course.  Not necessarily a bad thing at all.

I am not familiar with the TV production process, but even when the networks commit to more than one season, they probably don't want to invest financially in the production beyond one year in case they want out after the first.

Part of the reason many people hate Wendy is what makes Laura Linney such a good actress.
I don't get the hate for her at all.  Okay, the series started off with her shown to be cheating on Marty, but then she gets thrown into a situation no one could have possibly imagined.  I don't find neither her nor Marty to be particularly likable or unlikable.

Guess it's based on someone's personal viewpoint. Maybe some don't like that she got mean - don't know. Much like Skyler White, I guess.

I was thinking the same thing.  it is natural to root for the main character (Walter, Marty), even when they are the anti-hero, and I guess many do not like them having wives who push back on their illegal activity rather than blindly looking the other way and not stirring the pot.

In this season, however, Wendy is the one pushing the envelope
