Corey Clement Thread (1 Viewer)

Yeah, I'm assuming it's a pain management thing. I'm no expert but I don't think a fracture can heal in 2 weeks. Can it?
Yes, it can. It depends on the type of fracture of course, but I'm assuming this isn't a Batman scenario. Other players have gone through this. Iirc Cam did a few years ago.

It's a pain management issue mostly.

After ajayi injury I really thought this would be the guy.  Dropping
He’s got some talent, but it increasingly seems like hopes were raised a bit too high based on the Super Bowl.

So, time to move on in dynasty? I had such high hopes, but he's been passed over by a couple of people that don't have much pedigree either. It really doesn't seem like he was given much of a shot to  be the lead dog. But, on this team going through such pains at the moment, it's hard to see through the noise.

Clement limited today himself with a quad injury.

Smallwood looking more intriguing.
This was a month and a half ago.  Not sure how much it impacted him, but even if he's healthy it may have given other guys a chance to earn their rotation spots and he may have to keep working back into his. i'm in no rush to dump him if i can afford the roster spot.

The guy I'd be interested in buying cheap though is ajayi. He was looking very good the first few weeks and while i don't have a ton of confidence in his ability to stay healthy or even keep the job, the potential for a talented back with a good o line and a healthier d next year is worth a gamble

He certainly is a drop in redraft. In dynasty I still would want to see how this backfield shapes up over the offseason. I think we could see Adams taking over the Ajayi role and Clement taking over the pass catching role. Both may still be a significant factor

Ugh. I was sure wrong on him.  Every chance in the world to earn the starting job and he wiffed.
He looked great when the Oline was dominating.....Philly just has a terrible hang over right now....I think they draft someone for sure this year, none of the current RBs are the answer and they probably let Ajayi walk via FA

I would not hold in any formats.

In October I tried to make a speculative buy on this guy in a dynasty, devy-weakened 2nd. Guy told me the least he would take was a 1st and another lottery ticket. Um...okay I said. Glad I got shot down now, I picked up Adams and Gus Edwards in FA instead a couple weeks later.

Fantasy Football Impact: Eagles' Miles Sanders ruled OUT for Sunday's Week 1 matchup against Washington

Excerpt:

COREY CLEMENT

Clement was a Super Bowl hero back in the 2017 season, catching 4-of-5 targets for 100 yards and a score against the Patriots. 2018 wasn’t quite as productive, while 2019 resulted in zero offensive touches due to a combination of injuries and not-great performances (two fumbles on four total returns).

The training camp reports on Clement paint the picture of a back ready to rebound to some extent:

“The oft-injured running back looks healthy this summer. Clement, a Glassboro native, appears to have returned to his 2017 rookie form after spending the offseason in the weight room. He ran with the first-team offense regularly this week with Sanders (lower body) and Scott (lower body) sidelined with injuries. Clement is the team’s clear third running back.”

Double-digit touches could absolutely be in store for Clement, although his health is somewhat of a concern after he was a late addition to the injury report on Thursday with a quad injury. Clement didn’t receive an injury designation and is good to go for Sunday, but Scott is clearly the starter.

I've bumped Clement up to RB45, one spot ahead of handcuffs like Latavius Murray (RB46) and Chase Edmonds (RB47) but behind likely more established No. 2 options like Justin Jackson(RB43) and D'Andre Swift (RB44)

Maybe I’m reading this completely wrong, but I feel like assuming Boston Scott steps into the 18-20 touch role while Clement slides into Scott’s complementary role is lazy advice. When Scott emerged last year, Clement was hurt.  Scott had more than 10 carries once last season ... week 17 after Sanders left the game injured.  In the playoff game, Scott went right back to 6 carries and 3 receptions.

Duce Staley and the Eagles in general seem to love Clement, and the last fully healthy Clement we saw was dominating the Super Bowl. He was hurt in 2018 and 2019, but apparently has spent all offseason in the weight room after finally getting healthy. Maybe the reason the Eagles didn’t push for Carlos Hyde or the like was because they had a backup to Sanders already in the building. Maybe the Jason Huntley acquisition off of waivers was about having that smaller, speedier backup to Scott.

Also totally plausible that I’m crazy, but when Clement goes nuts today while everyone chases Boston Scott, I won’t be surprised.

It’s possible, but Clement had a golden opportunity a few years ago to seize the starting gig and failed. I could be wrong, but I think it wasn’t just injuries.

Scott at least proved himself over a handful of games last year.

Who knows what Pederson and Staley have in mind, but I would opt with recency bias over what could have been a few years ago.

Corey Clement had six rushes for 19 yards and two receptions of two yards in the Eagles' Week 1 loss to Washington.

Much of Clement's action came after RB Boston Scott was escorted to the locker room in the second half. Clement would be the presumed starter if Miles Sanders (hamstring) continued to sit and Scott were dinged up, but no running back for Philadelphia is going to benefit from a big workload until the Eagles' offensive line can keep defenders off of Carson Wentz and the team's backs. Clement is worth holding in deep leagues. The Eagles play the Rams in Week 2.
