Definitely...was already questioning with the pinky though. The thought of "fresh legs in the LCG" did occur to me - just makes it a lot harder to get there.
Yes.So who's the main beneficiary of Jones being out - Fournette or McCoy?
I hope they rest him...you know, for his health.any new reporting? if he was a close contact he would have been activated by now so i guess i have to assume he has covid. this week he plays on saturday so saturday would be 10 days from when he was put on the list... but hard to imagine he is going to be active.
The Tampa Bay Times reports Ronald Jones (COVID-19, finger) is expected to miss Week 16 against the Lions.
Coach Bruce Arians confirmed as much Tuesday afternoon. Jones was placed on the COVID list last Wednesday. Even if he has been symptom free, he is ineligible to practice before Saturday, when the Bucs visit the Lions. Also dealing with a broken left pinkie, it is not an impossibility that Jones gets cleared, but fantasy managers need to be making other plans. Leonard Fournette will continue to lead the Bucs' unimpressive RoJo-less committee.

Agree with this take.sho nuff said:At this point just rule him out so I can drop him
Ronald Jones (COVID) won’t play in Week 16 against the Lions.
As expected. The organization isn’t obligated to mention whether Jones actually tested positive or if he was simply a close contact, but his second consecutive absence suggests the former. Leonard Fournette, who out-snapped LeSean McCoy 45-12 and handled 87.5% of the team’s backfield carries sans Jones last week, again projects as a volume-based RB1/2 if only for the Bucs’ second-highest team total of Week 16.

Ronald Jones is on track to come off the reserve/COVID-19 list and play in Week 17 against the Falcons.
We'll have to see if Jones' broken finger will hold him out of practice in the coming days, but it appears he's nearly ready to come off the COVID-19 list. Last we saw RoJo, he rushed 18 times for 80 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the Vikings. He should slot in as a solid RB2 against Atlanta, assuming he resumes his role as Tampa's lead back.

Bucs activated RB Ronald Jones from the reserve/COVID-19 list.
The question now becomes RoJo's finger. The Bucs did not initially rule Jones out ahead of Week 15, so we would guess he has a good shot at suiting up for Sunday's regular season finale against the Falcons. At the very least, the Bucs will probably want to get Jones' feet wet heading into the postseason. If Jones does go, his uncertain health and the Bucs' likely ability to rest starters early will make Jones a low-floor DFS option.

Ronald Jones (finger) practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday.
The is the first official designation we have for Jones after being activated from the COVID-19 list. He seems on track to play in Week 17 as the entire team seems to be hitting its stride just in time for the playoffs. Leonard Fournette did nothing in Jones' absence to cut into the second-year back's workload.

Ronald Jones (quad) is questionable to return to the Bucs' Wild Card game against Washington.
Jones wasn't on the Bucs' final injury report and is active for the game, but he hasn't played a snap through the first quarter. The only explanation is that Jones suffered an injury in pre-game warmups. It's a mystery to us and all those who rostered Jones in playoff formats. The Bucs will continue to utilize Leonard Fournette in a bellcow role with Ke'Shawn Vaughn occasionally mixing in. LeSean McCoy is out.

Speaking Monday, Bucs coach Bruce Arians confirmed Ronald Jones (quad) is uncertain for the Divisional Round against New Orleans.
Jones was apparently "fine" on Thursday and Friday before feeling like he couldn't "open up" on Saturday. There is speculation that perhaps the plane ride increased his swelling. Arians said Leonard Fournette played his best game as a Buc in RoJo's absence against the Football Team. We would ultimately expect RoJo to get cleared. He has an extra day with the Bucs coming off a Saturday game and playing in New Orleans on Sunday.

Ronald Jones (quad) didn't practice Wednesday.
Jones is still dealing with swelling to his injured quad. The missed practice is a bad start to the week for Jones, but he has an extra day to get healthy with Tampa coming off a Saturday game in the Wild Card round. The Bucs will feature Leonard Fournette against the Saints if Jones doesn't get cleared.

Ronald Jones (quad) returned to practice Thursday.
It's unclear early in the session if Jones was limited or practiced in full, but Tampa Bay's official injury report will clear that up Thursday afternoon. Jones also still had a brace on his thumb while carrying the ball. If available for the team's upcoming game against the Saints, Jones would likely return to his primary role ahead of Leonard Fournette. The latter would continue handling the lion's share of touches if Jones is ruled out.

Bucs coach Bruce Arians said Ronald Jones (quad) will be a game-time decision for Sunday's Divisional Round matchup with the Saints.
Jones looked better at Friday's practice, but his status for Sunday's game is still up in the air. Even if he gets cleared, Leonard Fournette will start after rushing for 93 yards and a touchdown last week. Fournette's hot hand makes him the touch-favorite if both are active.

Ronald Jones rushed 13 times for 62 yards in the Bucs' Divisional Round win over the Saints.
He failed to catch his lone target in the passing game and was out-touched 22-13 by Leonard Fournette, who piled up 107 yards and one touchdown. Jones played through a quad issue that was noticeably bothering him on a long run that was eventually called back on a penalty. He'll get another week to rest his leg ahead of the NFC title date with the Packers at Lambeau. The cold weather won't be friendly to Jones' quad. Look for Fournette to again pace the Bucs backfield in that one.

Ronald Jones (quad) was a full participant in Friday's practice.
It's an upgrade for Jones, who had been limited in every practice prior. There's a terrific chance Leonard Fournette again leads this backfield in touches after out-snapping Jones 48-21 in the Divisional Round, but the latter's presumed health is a wrench in any perceived gameplan. He remains a better DFS tournament play given the volatility of his outlook, whereas Fournette is the safer of the two in any postseason contests.

Ronald Jones rushed 10 times for 16 yards in the Bucs' NFC Championship Game win over the Packers.
Jones was not targeted in the passing game. Thanks in large part to unimaginative play-calling, the Bucs' running game was going nowhere all afternoon. Leonard Fournette made the only big play on the ground with a winding 20-yard touchdown run. Jones is typically the bigger play threat, but Fournette has emerged as "the guy" during the playoffs. Both will be involved in Super Bowl LV, but Fournette will get the first crack at establishing the "hot hand."

Ronald Jones rushed 12 times for 61 yards in the Bucs' Super Bowl win over the Chiefs.
RoJo was the clear No. 2 back behind Leonard Fournette, but still saw heavy usage in a game where the Bucs dominated on the ground. Built up as the Bucs’ starter all offseason, RoJo got a reality check when Fournette was signed 11 days before the opener. Jones won the Week 1 touch battle 19-6, but Fournette went ahead 16-9 Week 2. That set the stage for a season-long seesaw where neither back emerged fully victorious, but Jones did win the touch war 220-123. Although he was strangely unproductive as a pass catcher, Jones took another step forward as a runner, getting his YPC above 5.0 behind the Bucs’ excellent line while notching six carries of 20-plus yards. He was a middle of the road 20th in Pro Football Focus’ “elusive rating,” which measures running back production independent of blocking. Six months shy of his 24th birthday, Jones will head into the final year of his rookie deal locked into at least a 1B role in the Bucs’ backfield.

RONALD JONES RB, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
Bucs coach Bruce Arians said RBs Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones will continue to split time this year.
Arians emphasized that it will be Jones and Fournette splitting most of the work, indicating that Giovani Bernard and Ke'Shawn Vaughn will start the year on the bench. Fournette was the go-to back for Tampa Bay during their Super Bowl run. The former Jaguar rushed 64 times for 300 yards in the Bucs' four playoff games on top of playing third-downs. Jones only made three appearances in the postseason. He earned 35 carries for 139 yards in those contests. Both players will be frustrating fantasy options because of the workload split but Fournette's role as a pass-catcher makes him a far safer option. Jones is nothing more than a boom/bust RB3.

I agree with the 1st half of this. he should have stand-alone flex or emergency RB viability as their receiving back. I don’t think either Fournette or Jones showed enough in the passing game for the Bucs to be confident using either in that role.I think Brady has influence on their decision to pursue White and then Bernard and that he will have a role in the offense. I think he could be their feature RB if they gave him the opportunity to. Not sure they will though.
Yeah Bernard is a player I really like but he just hasn't gotten the opportunity and now his career is closer to the end than its beginning.I agree with the 1st half of this. he should have stand-alone flex or emergency RB viability as their receiving back. I don’t think either Fournette or Jones showed enough in the passing game for the Bucs to be confident using either in that role.
I agree with the 2nd half, but I believe that would be very unlikely. Both Jones & LF would have to get hurt. And even then they might be more likely to go with a Vaughn/Bernard RBBC.
I agree Bernard has the ability - we saw it in Cinci in brief flashes.
I get the optimism. If I owned Gio I'd be hoping for this too.Sorry to continue the hijack, but I'm right up there on the Board of Directors of the Giovani Bernard fan club.
A huge WFTskins fan, I prayed to all that is holy when Jay Gruden took the helm of the WFT, that Gio was going to be acquired and featured. Alas, no...
...I think there is very much a path to Gio being the nominal starter and committee leader in TB if things break right. I had no idea until recently that Gio and James White were apparently HS teammates and buddies, and that White advised Brady to have the Bucs acquire him when White apparently made the decision to stay in NE. He's going to bring the warrior mentality into Training Camp and force everyone in the RB room to work their butts of and compete.I can absolutely see Brady falling in love with the guy. Sure hope it works out before age catches up to him.
100% of this - I shoulda just read your post & not posted. lolTB run/pass ratio last year was 37.1/62.9 - only PIT and JAX ran the ball less.
But they were 11th in RB receptions, 14th in rushing yards; 13th in TDs. Overall 16th in FF pts scored by RBs. It’s such an even split though - Jones was the better runner, Fournette the better receiver, Gio will eat into both - really hard to be excited about drafting any of them. It’s like New England lite down there. Patriots are always top ten in RB FF pts - top three when they don’t have a TD vulture playing QB - but good luck figuring out whose week it is.

#Bucs RB RoJo showing absolutely zero hesitation in hitting holes and turning the corner on outside runs. Looks primed for a big season in his contract year.

RoJo made a great jump cut back to the inside to break it for a long run. #Bucs
I know you are being funny, but I do think we might be sleeping on him a bit. He did look like a different RB last year compared to the year prior. And didn't he get banged up that gave Fournette the shot to come on strong at the end of the season and playoffs?I'm moving Johnson way up my board after seeing what he Bucs PR team is saying about him in non-contact drills.
I want no part of any TB RB, especially with Gio added to the mix.I know you are being funny, but I do think we might be sleeping on him a bit. He did look like a different RB last year compared to the year prior. And didn't he get banged up that gave Fournette the shot to come on strong at the end of the season and playoffs?
I can't believe we are back to "fumble and get sent to the-Shadow Realm" with Jones.Ronald Jones four times for 14 yards in the Bucs' Week 1 win over the Cowboys before being benched for a second quarter fumble and not returning.
That's going to go ahead and be a "yikes." Jones let the ball get "Peanut punched" out from the side and was never heard from again even as Leonard Fournette continued to display hands of stone, including a muff that led to a Tom Brady interception. As dismal as Fournette is, he makes fewer game-altering mistakes than Jones, who has even less margin for error this season with Giovani Bernard available for third downs. Fournette will probably give Jones openings, but it is hard to muster much FLEX excitement for Jones in fantasy's dominant format of PPR. The Falcons are on tap for Week 2.
Not sure why it's so surprising, it's been a staple of a Tom Brady offense for, like, 16 years?I can't believe we are back to "fumble and get sent to the-Shadow Realm" with Jones.
There's a reason I spent the offseason rebuilding, and RoJo as my RB2 was a big part of that.Surprised there isn't more chatter. This guy nuked my dynasty 2 RB hole with Javonte Williams sitting there on the bench. I don't think I have the luxury of ever playing this guy again as long as he's on Tampa Bay. Maybe they'll trade him to Baltimore? One can always hope.
Arians is notorious for it.Not sure why it's so surprising, it's been a staple of a Tom Brady offense for, like, 16 years?
This is the correct answer.I want no part of any TB RB, especially with Gio added to the mix.
Bucs head coach Bruce Arians said RB Ronald Jones "struggled mentally" to "get over" his lost fumble Thursday night against Dallas.
Arians offered his assessment of Jones in response to a question about benching the veteran in favor of Leonard Fournette following a first half fumble against the Cowboys. Arians has been brutal in his in-game punishment for any Tampa running back who gives up the rock, and there's no telling when or if Jones emerges from the coach's doghouse. The always-inefficient Fournette is Arians' favored back for now. Gio Bernard's near absence from the Bucs' Week 1 game plan could spell major usage for Lombardi Lenny next week against Atlanta.
