QB Sam Darnold, MIN (1 Viewer)

For me Darnold is still a prospect with decent potential. He isn't the multi-weapon like guys like Lamar Jackson or Deshaun Watson so he is going to have to create his fantasy value as a passer. Still can't tell if he is going to be a Drew Brees, a Matt Ryan or a Andy Dalton. I think he has enough to stick in the league but I'm not sure if he can be a QB1 in fantasy football or just a depth guy.

Sam Darnold completed 28-of-48 passes for 239 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions in the Jets' 22-6, Week 13 loss to the Bengals.

In an extraordinarily pathetic display, Darnold found himself under nonstop pressure from Carlos Dunlap and company, categorically failing to make plays as his line decided not to block a soul. For good measure, drops and penalties galore were mixed in. Darnold avoided turnovers but contributed a long pass of 20 vs. arguably the league's least-talented defense. It was a disastrous step backwards after the sophomore had taken advantage of plus matchups of late. He does have another one for Week 14 in the Dolphins, but Darnold has maxed out as a zero-floor QB2.

Sam Darnold completed 20-of-36 passes for 270 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the Jets' 22-21, Week 14 win over the Dolphins.

In an embarrassing performance, the Jets needed a last-second field goal to beat a tanking Dolphins team that strung together not one, not two, but seven field goal drives. Darnold was lucky to escape with only one interception, as he uncorked a number of wildly inaccurate passes. He was also hurt by a few drops. For score No. 1, Darnold expertly avoided pressure before finding a wide-open Robby Anderson. The second was a tough YAC number from Demaryius Thomas. Playing behind a gruesome offensive line, Darnold has been less frenetic after his awful mid-season play but has failed to take advantage of a number of golden matchups. The Ravens will be the opposite for Week 15.

Sam Darnold completed 18-of-32 passes for 218 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the Jets' 42-21, Week 15 loss to the Ravens.

Darnold also lost a fumble on an evening where the Jets got utterly annihilated. They entered the fourth quarter trailing 35-7, but a blocked punt score and an 18-yard touchdown to Jamison Crowder helped Gang Green and Darnold save a little face. As has been the case for most of the past six weeks, Darnold was not wildly bad, but he wasn't good, either. His interception was a truly atrocious red zone decision, while the fumble came in the Jets' own territory. Both touchdown strikes were solid throws, and the first came after Crowder dropped a wide-open score one play earlier. Darnold has not gone all the way off the rails like he was threatening to in late October, but his progress has been lurching at best. The Steelers are another nightmare opponent for Week 16.

New York Daily News' Charles McDonald says that Sam Darnold looks "like a franchise quarterback."

Breshad Perriman, who the team signed in free agency, was on the receiving end of a dime from Darnold in practice. He noted that “The touch he has on the ball is unreal." Jets coach Adam Gase pointed out how fast Darnold was moving and calling plays out. Darnold improved on his rookie season in 2019, completing 61.9% of his passes and throwing two extra scores with fewer interceptions. Only 23 years old, the Jets are counting on Darnold's continued progression to raise the franchise from its recent mediocrity.

Jets head coach said the team's rash of receiver injuries hasn't affect QB Sam Darnold, and in fact has been "good for his brain."

The "variety" of wideout groupings and the "adjustments" Darnold has had to make during August practices is actually good for the Jets' franchise quarterback, Gase insists. Chris Herndon IV and Jamison Crowder would continue to be prime targets for Darnold, Gase said, adding that Darnold would continue to look for those two pass catchers "when it's crunch time." Breshad Perriman remains out of practice with a knee injury and rookie WR Denzel Mims has missed two weeks of practice with a hurt hamstring. We're not sure about how the team's receiver injury woes will affect Darnold's brain health, but we do know Crowder and Herndon are in line from a boatload of early-season targets.

Fortunately for both young QBs there are more games this season to improve.
Not sure it matters for Darnold. Even if Gase gets fired in-season I'm not sure he has the the right coaching around him to level-up. He came into the league with some risks and needing development and he's never gotten that with this org. He may not have gotten right anyway, but he was setup to fail with the Jets.

Totally agree on Darnold.  That O would be a challenge for any QB.   Baker has no excuses.   The Browns are a talented team.

Sam Darnold completed 21-of-32 passes for 177 yards and one score in the Jets' Week 2 loss against the 49ers.

Darnold's performance doesn't look bad on paper but it was saved by a touchdown throw to Braxton Berrios once the game was well out of hand. He did max a nice throw on the run during the play. Darnold didn't go deep often and missed a number of tight-window throws. With no running game to speak of, Darnold will need to be more aggressive if the Jets want to put up points going forward. His struggles may continue in Week 3 as the Jets travel to Indianapolis and face another solid defense. The Colts intercepted Kirk Cousins three times in Week 2.

Adam Gase could destroy Tom Brady's career in his prime. Look at how well Tannehill is playing away from Gase. Gotta feel sorry for Darnold. He may not survive this.

It's incredible how little talent they have at the skill positions. I mean Braxton Berrios got 8 targets?! Josh Malone? My goodness.
this is what happens when you can’t draft. darnold and q williams are 3rd overall picks somehow.  can’t believe gore, berrios, hogan trio couldn’t get the job done.....lol
