2023 New York Jets: Bye Bye (4 Viewers)

Yeah, it COULD be Mike Glennon time for a few weeks in Jax. The Jets better not do something stupid and win a game.
This is what scares me the most......Lawrence is a no brainer reset to me....Fields or other QB...not so much....it would be very Jet like to slog through this awful season and have to settle for a #2/3pick.

I already got the Jets scenario down pat as I have had it going thru my mind for around a month. Here's the way I'm 98% positive it will play out:

Giants are 3-12 and they are done as far as any shot at #1 overall.

Jets will be 1-14 heading into final game of season vs the Patriots at Gillette, who are in midst of their worst season in 20 years as they are 7-8 with nothing to play for.

Jags will be 2-13 heading into their final game of season vs Colts who with a win, win the AFC south and get a home game in the playoffs. So they'll be very inspired to win this game vs pathetic Jaguars.

Jags hold tie breaker if by chance Jets and Jags end up with same w/l record based on SOS. So it's a pretty simple scenario Jets lose to a team they haven't beaten in Foxboro since the AFC playoffs in 2011 and all is good in the world.

Us Jet fans know better as we know good things just don't happen for us. So we all are nervous as #### that the hoodie who never in life or his NFL coaching career rests his starters until maybe mid 3rd quarter, might try and screw with us and our quest for Trevor Lawrence and the #1 overall and rest most of the starters with the "excuse" that he wants to see how his 2nd and 3rd stringers react in a full game. The real reason is obvious...Belechik doesn't want to have to deal with Lawrence two times per year for the next decade and if he can troll the Jets at same time....all the better.

Game starts and just as we thought, the hoodie starts taking his starters out this time he doesn't even wait till  the half, he starts pulling them middle of 1st quarter. And while this is happening, Gase who is dead man walking and knows he's gone at end of year, in a last gasp effort to keep his job, puts together a brilliant game plan vs Pats 2nd and 3rd stringers, Darnold throws for 400 and 3 TD's...Perine goes for 100 and a TD and Jets blow out the Pats 41-17. Jet fans all across the metro area are cursing Gase out...cursing Belechik....cursing our fate that we were brought up Jets fans.

There is still a sliver of hope left tho as you never know on "any given Sunday" goes the saying, the Jags could somehow beat the Colts and pull off a miracle. Well much to our surprise the football gods are teasing the #### out of us as the Jags defense has come to play and Mineshew pulls his porn mustache magic and has the Jags in FG position with seconds left down 19-17.

Jet Nation is crossing our fingers for the Jags kicker to make the easy simple 29 yard chip shot so that we get #1 overall.

So what happens? Pretty obvious what happens as we Jet fans all know and knew from the moment the snap was made. The kick which is right down the middle is blocked by Colts defender but ball has enough momentum anyways to be good. The ball however hits the cross bar and doinks forward as Jags lose giving them the #1 overall and Trevor Lawrence.

Oh and to make it even better for us here in Jet Nation, the Johnson's after the Patriots game, give Gase a 3-year extension till 2023 due to his brilliant offensive genius that was on display vs the Patriots.

I will be copying and pasting this to a word document and when this scenario I painted actually does happen....and it will, I'll break it out and copy and paste it for all of your enjoyment....lol...

On a related note...KC-41...Jets-3..Le'Veon 100+ and at least 1 TD....book it!.

As a Mahomes owner I’m actually a little nervous to start him this week.  I figure KC will get so far ahead they will run the ball into the ground and pull Mahomes before the second half.   I’m half tempted to start Tannehill instead.

Sports Illustrated's John Shipley expects Jake Luton to start Week 9 against the Texans.

The Jaguars have yet to rule out Gardner Minshew (thumb), but the signs point to them making a change. Minshew was already at risk of getting benched before his injury. Jacksonville likely wants to see what they have in Luton — the most efficient quarterback in the Pac-12 last year. Luton (6'6/224) has prototype size and could open up the offense more than Minshew (6.9 YPA). Jacksonville turning to Luton would potentially be a boost to D.J. Chark's value.

As a non-Mahomes owner(I'm a fortunate Kyler Murray owner in both my leagues), I can see the trepidation as I would certainly be nervous as well at starting him.

You just have to hope that even if Mahomes gets pulled middle of 3rd quarter, the game script will include enough passing so that he'll have thrown 2-3 TD's and for close too or over 300 by that time. If there is any QB in the league who can do that in 30-40 minutes of game action, it's Mahomes.

I don't see anyway anyhow you can bench him.

Luton. Jake Luton. His talent stands in the way between us and Lawrence. Get to know him well, he'll be a subplot to our year.
Fair, I just wasn't sure what Luton had to do with the Jets thread lol.

I love Luton though.  Have seen him play a ton.

He earns high remarks from his OC, too. Anybody that can get the ball to Chark is someone I support being the Jaguars quarterback.
This Chark owner is right there with you on this one. Hopefully this dude Luton is going tobe able to throw the rock downfield and heavily target Chark...we shalt see.

Meantime I'm going to head over the YT and watch some highlights of this kid Luton seeing I never ever heard of him as he was far far off my radar. I hope to like what I see...hmmmm

Just think. We drafted knee brace before Luton, and knee brace is never gonna see an NFL field.

I must be in a fog or having a brain cramp but who are you referring too with regards to "knee brace".

All I know is thank the good lord the Jags in the 6th round took Luton two picks ahead of our MVP this season as I simply want to fathom the thought in my head because I simply don't know where we'd be withought punter Braden Mann....lol....🤪

Because there was discussion about Jax trying to out-tank the Jets by benching Minshew and then...

James Morgan, 4th round selection at quarterback, Florida International, property of the NY Jets.

Ahhh...wasn't aware Morgan ad knee braces were a thing. Still scratch my head at that pick at that time in the draft by JD.

Thx tho. Hopefully for our sake, Luton is plays well....fingers crossed

Yeah, mea culpa. Should have just used his name. The fact that he's already in a knee brace leaves me further scratching my head about the pick. He's not coming off the bench to fool people with run-pass options, it would seem.

Anyway, best of luck to us against...gulp...

KC today.

I can't even watch the game out of morbid interest. If the turf monster grabs Mahomes, every fantasy thing I basically have is shot. The Jets are MIckey Mouse down to their surface, which sounds contradictory, but is literally true in this case.

Gase sure does love the WR screen - but I guess when you have a game breaking talent like Braxton Berrios you find creative ways to get him the ball.

Not to scare this thread but if the Pats lose out they almost certainly pick before the Jets.

Only 2 different games on their respective schedules (thus those 2 determine stregth of schedule tiebreaker):

Jets play/played Indianapolis and Cleveland (10-5 combined record)

Pats play/played Houston and Baltimore (6-8)

No, he can't cover, but he's a very good tackler. Good effort. Coming off an ACL injury last year.
Oh Dear Christ. I just added Robert Spillane after the Bush injury and his subsequent playing time, didn't start him today while he earned thirty-two points, and now he's last week's news, turning both of my starting LBs next week into rotational guys.

Great.

Yeah, he's a straight ahead 2 down LB. Not much more.

As always, the twitter comments prove just how many idiots are out there. Some people are actually complaining that the Jets "got nothing" for him.  More than happy with the deal, as it gives them some potential ammo to move around in the draft.

If the Jets finish ahead of the Patriots and the Pats get one of the 2 QB's, I will never watch football again. Dead serious.

The Jets are not beating the Patriots. The Patriots almost beat the Bills today, and they're much better than their record.

We're worse than ours.

Gase is going to out-coach BB? Sure. It's probably too close to the game to buy end of the world insurance.

My friend was crying about it. I said, "lol, how much do you really think he is worth?"

Thanks. Sounds like a one year rental that willl help shore up the run D. Steelers 3rd ILB Ulysees Gilbert III has a back injury that may be serious.

If he signs a decent deal n the offseason Steelers mat be able to get a 6th-7th round comp pick.

Outside of M Sanders, I can't recall anyone running on the Steelers. Man, Tuitt played a monster game. He was everywhere today. It seems like most RBs don't even get past the Pitt linemen.

Pats won’t lose out. They should have won today and there’s no chance they lose to the Jets twice.

I mean....of course mims gets literally zero targets in the 2nd half after making that great catch earlier in the game. It's just how the Jets work.

I seriously can't imagine how the handful of competent people in that organization feel going to work every day

Sometimes I think the fans get the team they deserve. The Jets group on Facebook has people pissed about what they got for Williamson and questioning why they're trading players for late picks.

I would say that Gase is in on the tank job, but we all know he's just incompetent. I just want to see how Mims looks, and he looks explosive and strong on the ball. Hopefully he's a building block for whatever happens next season. Sign a guy like JJSS to go with Mims and Crowder and that's a receiving corp. that can be dangerous once the line gets built.
