Used to be about 140-145. Haven't played in a couple years. So, guessed 130sh, but could be less.

PW 135-145

9 145-155

8 155-165

6'5" lanky hacker. I picked 160-170, but if it's 170 I'm hitting a 7.

135-145ish, depending on the day.
What's funny is, while I like hitting this club, I think it probably has my widest range of almost 20 yards at times.

I hit my SW consistently 100 yards with a full swing.  PW is 115-120 (and less if I need).  9i is 125-130.  7i is 150 on the nose.  6i is 155-160.  5i is 165-170.  4i is 175-180.

So now that I think about it, when I'm in that range of > 130 but  < 150, I use my 8 and I can get it close to either.  If I try to overhit my 9i for something just over 130, it's usually a disaster.  And even a soft 7i is going 145 on me.

I don't know if that's more an indication of my 8 or how I hit my 7i and 9i.

8-iron is my best club. Have been able to pretty consistently hit it 145 yards for the past 20 years.

My other irons are inconsistent to say the least:

PW = anywhere from 80-130 yards
9 = 100-140
7 = 140-155
6 = 160-200
5 = 165-200
4 = 170-200
3 = 180-205

I bought two different "gap" wedges to try to reduce the inconsistency of my short game (one 51 degrees and one 54 degrees). I can't hit either one further than 90 yards?!

I simply remember hitting it about 135 once right at the pin. It made me convinced to keep golfing.

Then I quit because of my shoulder and terrible, terrible swing.

No harm, no foul.

About 155 on the dot hit pure.  I changed shafts on my irons after winning a charity closest to pin and that added a extra 7 yards or so to all of them.

How much do the clubs and ball you use add to your distance?   Does anyone do specific exercises to increase distance?

the whole golf exercise business is exploding.  It's also confusing as hell.  I am going to start doing some basic stretches for hamstrings and torso - also bought these speed stix and a mph monitor.
yeah, the golf improvement industry in general is insane whether its exercises to improve your technique or fitness.   was curious if the guys in this thread that are hitting there 8 iron 20-30 yards farther than mine just naturally hit it that far with just your average clubs or if they consciously do something to get that extra distance.

For serious.  I'm 46 and only about a half a club maybe one some days different than I was in my 20s my drives are shorter though.... you really need to work on stretching loosen them hips up
yeah, but I'm still playing with the same lynx irons and pin seeker woods that I got for graduation in 1988 (regripped many times), so I'm sure I could get a more with some technology, but I only play 10-15 times a year and shoot 74-80 most days.  Buddy at work just bought a driver and a 3 wood that he had fitted for him............$1100 total.  SMH, I still beat him by 10-15 when we play.
