1.01 Anfernee Simons

Whoa, @AnferneeSimons with the galaxy brain take in today's Reddit AMA. #RipCitypic.twitter.com/MCukvpKD9q

— Matt (@wastro) October 3, 2018

That question has kind of been a thing. Search “is water wet” on your favorite search engine or on Youtube and you’ll be hit with thousands of links on the subject.

This was Simons’ answer: “No, water is not wet. Whatever water gets on is wet.”

While that way of thinking might seem crazy to some, Simons might have a point. Actual scientists at UC of Santa Barbara have basically agreed with his assessment. They argue that, on its own, water isn’t wet. The second answer does give scenarios where water can be considered wet, but that is dependent on how you interpret the definition of the term “wet.” Seriously.

As you may have gathered, this is a polarizing issue. On the site Debate.org, it’s split down the middle. Fifty-one percent of people on the site believe water is not wet. Debate.org is not a scientific resource, but it’s worth checking out if you’d like to see phrases like “water is ice juice” and “say you pour water on water, would u say the water is wet?”

here are my over/unders that I feel like sharing for some reason:

Golden State Warriors - 62.5 - Under / Just think they will be managing too many minutes to get to 63 wins

Boston Celtics -59.5 - Under / There are actually a lot of ways that this over hits and I will not be surprised at all if they get to 60 wins.  Just feels like they still need to integrate all the pieces and there is a slightly better chance that they are under.

Houston Rockets -56 - Over / I think that all the pieces still work and they will get into the high 50s

Toronto Raptors - 55 - Over / This is actually pretty low, I guess because of Nurse, but there is so much talent here/

Philadelphia 76ers - 54.5 - Under / Tough one but just feels like some question marks with the rotations and whether are ready to make this leap.

Utah Jazz - 49.5 - Over / Great depth and losing Hood and Johnson should let them play at the clip that they played the last 35 games with

Milwaukee Bucks - 48.5 - Over / I think Bud is able to get more out of this talent and get them up higher.

Oklahoma City Thunder - 48.5 - Under / Roberson out for a while, plus Westbrook and George coming off of surgery says that this could be a slow start.

Indiana Pacers - 48 - Under / This is another tough one and a fair chance that they go over.  Just not totally buying into them moving up in wins.

Los Angeles Lakers - 48 - Under / Hard to bet against Lebron, but this island of misfit toys is going to take a while to get in synch.

Denver Nuggets - 47.5 - Under / Could definitely go over, but I think that the defense keeps them just shy.

New Orleans Pelicans - 45.5 - Over / Solid team that seemed to figure things out toward the end of the year and the frontcourt is going to be a nightmare for other teams.

San Antonio Spurs - 45 - Over / Just trusting in Pop and the total talent, I guess.  They did lose a lot in the offseason, though.

Washington Wizards - 45 - Under / Definitely could go over, but guessing that injuries and general malcontentery keeps them just under.

Miami Heat - 42.5 - Over / Solid squad that should go over fairly easily if healthy.

Portland Trail Blazers - 42 - Over / They played a little over the heads last year, but this number just seems too low.

Minnesota Timberwolves - 40.5 - Over / Obviously there are a lot of issues here, but being a little contrarian and guessing that Butler plays because Thibs is stubborn and between that and Towns and company, they can go over this number.

Detroit Pistons - 38 - Under / Reggie Jackson injury plus Blake's aging and injury issues make it hard for me to buy into the over, though this is right on the line.

Los Angeles Clippers - 38 - Under / Nice depth but just no high-end talent and I think they fall short.

Charlotte Hornets - 35.5 - Over / Continual underachievers with enough talent to beat this number, I am guessing that they just make it over.

Dallas Mavericks - 34.5 - Over / Jordan and Doncic plus Carlisle make me think that they can do this.

Memphis Grizzlies - 33.5 - Over / Gambling that that Conley and Gasol stay healthy and they wring out just enough wins.

Brooklyn Nets - 32 - Over / Enough talent to get over this now in a still weak Eastern conference and Atkinson will look to continue their improvement.

Orlando Magic - 31 - Under / Just kind of a garbage roster, with a few intriguing very young pieces, plus they may sell off some vets.

Chicago Bulls - 30.5 - Under / Intriguing collection, but I can't see how they will be able to put it together to get out of the 20s.

Cleveland Cavaliers - 30.5 - Over / Probably weird, but this is a very low number and I think that Lue and Gilbert and the players will want to show that they have the will to win, even though they probably end up at like 35 at best.

Phoenix Suns - 29 - Under / Just too young still, but will be interesting to see how Igor does.

New York Knicks - 28 - Under / Who knows when Kristaps comes back and otherwise nowhere near enough talent.

Sacramento Kings - 25.5 - Under / Will not achieve the Vladfather's hopes of 29 and is still way down the curve, though I suppose they could barely get over since they don't have their pick.

Atlanta Hawks - 24 - Under / This is close, but this team is still so young and a their nadir.

Projected record on these totals: 11-19

well you want news, have to like Anthony Davis wanting to come to the Sixers. The rumor mill will not suck me in this year, but holy heck that line-up would be a bunch of giants crushing teams. Little Brad Stevens and his oft injured miscreants would run for the hills

Sources on @TheAthleticNBA @WatchStadium: Washington Wizards center Dwight Howard visited a specialist in New York and has piriformis injury, which is a muscle in the buttocks. The injury isn't serious and Howard will continue treatment.

Hopefully Bronny didn't sign one of those codes of conduct (or whatever they are called) for his basketball team promising not to use alcohol.

Jimmer having himself a night vs the Rockets
I could hear that my daughter was watching some kind of b-ball on her phone this morning.  I asked her what it was.  she said it was House of Highlights and some guy named Jimmer Freed- um, Freedet?  I thought she was on drugs because I thought he was playing in like Iraq, but then I realized that he must have been on the Sharks.  I told her to make sure she always plays defense.

Sounds like butler returned to Wolves practice today and basically called everybody a cuck.
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/24950981/jimmy-butler-heated-practice-timberwolves

All-Star Jimmy Butler participated in the Minnesota Timberwolves' practice on Wednesday, a session that included him verbally challenging teammates, coaches and front office executives, league sources told ESPN.

Butler was vociferous and emotional at times, targeting president/coach Tom Thibodeau, general manager Scott Layden and teammates Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, league sources said. He had not practiced with the team so far this season after requesting a trade three weeks ago.
Sounds like a healthy working environment.

ETA: I'll be very disappointed if there is not a video that eventually leaks

Not that he’s necessarily wrong in that assessment (Thibs is coaching two decades too late, Wiggins is a turd, and KAT is soft), but what a ##### move.  #### you Butler!

How is there not already an internet parody of the Jimmy episode of Seinfeld?  All you have to do is change "Kramer" to "Thibs" and you're basically there.

Jimmy comes in dribbling.

Jimmy: "Oh yeah!! ... Jimmy's ready."

Kramer: "Hey Jimmy"

George: "Ha..harrr."

Jimmy: "Jimmy's got some new moves."

Kramer: "Go Jimmy"

Jimmy: 'Check Jimmy out"

Jimmy slips on Kramer's puddle and falls on his back

Jimmy: "Ooohhh!!!!! JIMMY'S DOWN."

Scene cuts then comes back with paramedics and Jimmy on a stretcher.

Paramedic (missing a few words) ......was gonna be in traction."

Jimmy: "Jimmy might have a compound fracture.. Jimmy's going into shock!!"

George: (angrily)"WHY WEREN'T YOU MORE CAREFUL WITH YOUR DROOL!"

Kramer: "HEY I'M DOING THE BEST I CAN!!!"

Jerry: "Why are you taking this so personally?"

George "BECAUSE IF HE CAN'T JUMP. THERE GOES MY SNEAKER BUSINESS!!"

Kramer: (cries out) WELL I SAID I'M SORRY."

Jimmy: ( as he gets taken out) "JIM....JIMMY WONT FORGET YOU KRAMER...

JIMMY HOLDS GRUDGES. LET JIMMY GO......"

...

Jimmy: "Well look who's here."

Kramer: "Whooo!"

Jimmy: "That's the guy who sidelined Jimmy."

Kramer: "What!"

Jimmy: "That's the guy who took the bread out of Jimmy's mouth. Jimmy's out

of work because of you..

Jimmy punches Kramer in the mouth.

Jimmy: "Jimmy wants a piece of Kramer..(fighting ensues and Jimmy gets

taken out by hotel security)

Jimmy: "JIMMY'S GONNA GET YOU KRAMER!!. HANDS OFF JIMMY!!. DON'T TOUCH

JIMMY!! LET GO OF JIMMY!!!"

He took the bench players and ran the table against Wiggins, Townes and the other starters over multiple games.
You could have said that Butler's team played with 4 guys and he guarded KAT and Wiggins at the same time while shutting them both out and I would believe it.

The Bulls first unit looked sharp on the break tonight.  Although you can already see their offense is going to be trash once the ball movement stops.  No iso game or pick and roll.

Indy looked bad everywheree.
